i've wanted to since the early 90's when I saw the Rocky Mountain Ti Bolt. Finally allowed myself and replaced the Chameleon with a Ti456 and the difference is incredible – similar bikes handling wise but I can now come home from a long ride without back ache and a sore bum which the Chameleon dished out frequently.

if someone is that far ahead of the competition questions will be raised.

were questions asked of Usain Bolt? They could have been, I don't know, but he was spectacularly ahead in 10 a second race.

I hope it's a clean tour, I'm really enjoying it.

nice, very nice. Looks like mine (except it's newer) which I was thinking of departing with, however looking at that and slowriders comments perhaps I won't.

Another one for getting to the Canal off of Ferry Lane here. It's a nice ride up the Lea Valley early in the morning…

    ahhhh, Lucas reveals his identity…

Character building, hmmmm. The High Street in driving wind and rain in a pair of shorts in October is enough to make you think you'll end up with Nick Ross on 999. Made even more scary by SFB's recent High Street photos thread earlier in the month.

it's a great ride. Yeah, alot of the uphill stuff required me to walk but I am unfit and give up easily. But it's well well worth it. One of my current favourites.

Freeridenick that top photo is ace, it looks like a toytown version of a mountain biker on a mountain.

if you like beetroot borscht is good. They like their beetroot the polish, they mix it up with horse raddish too which is tasty.

I don't really know about cycling in Norfolk itself but you can make it down to chicksands in no more than two hours probably. Good for jumpy stuff and wooden stuff, the xc course isn't worth travelling down for itself. Otherwise, in the other direction Sherwood Pines. Or…get the map and go explore Norfolk 🙂

I'm just hoping it wasn't his teeth!

I thought you were joking but it really it does look like it could have been. I really hope not. Errgh 😕

it's a good program – agree that Ben is pretty inspiring really. Loving the stealthy Norwegians, very cool.

I have had to google this because removing points 6 and 7 of the joke left me very confused and feeling that I must be a racist (I neglected to read the mods comments). I have found point 6 on t'web, I have in fact found different versions of point 6 on the web (spanish and arabic). I am still slightly baffled, acknowledging that english may oneday not be the dominant language doesn't seem racist or xenophobic to me – perhaps I am wrong, but outwith a joke it seems to me that acknowledging it may be beneficial to learn Chinese to get ahead in business is wise.

Now, I havent found point 7 on the web and perhaps there is good reason, and perhaps the point 6 I found was not the same as the OPs joke. I don't wish to stir things up but is point 6 really that offensive?

I have Googlemaps on my Nokia – it's quite good for finding streets and stuff, no use really away from roads alough you do get the satellite imagery too.

i had a play with Google's Picasa Web albums yesterday. It was very easy to use. Although that's the only one I have used so can't compare to anything else.

I've got this issue, thread about it here

The wobbly ends are meant to be like that, floating spacers apparently.

According to Hope if the bearings are good in the hub then it's just one of those things. The hubs aren't really designed to be used with a Maxle type system. They were intended for bolt thru's which clamp from both ends.

I have now begrudgingly got over it. It doesn't cause any noticeable play when riding – the majority of people think I am worrying about nothing.

doomed, most definitely doomed – although it's fun to watch the self important human race attempting to lower global temperatures in a few years.

There was great quote from Sean Lock on the tele the other night about global waming "it's like turning up to an earthquake with a dust pan and brush"

I do this, I'm the same on a snowboard too. More speed is the easy way but I think technique is the better way. Not that I can do what he is doing in the photo above by any stretch of my imagination but I forget to actually pick my knees up when I jump if that makes sense. I do all the pumping before I take off and push the front down on landing but in the air I forget about my legs. When I do remember the bike goes higher, I go further and clear the lip. Then I shout yeeehah like the rad dude I am. Next time I go a jumping it will take me 15 minutes to remember not to forget my legs.

I don't really think it matters if you are undertaking or overtaking, everything goes. All the cyclist really needs to know is who is most likley to get hurt. With this in mind you can do most things in reasonable safety, obviously you can't account for every idiot out there but its definitely possible to limit the risks with a bit of sense.

I bought a head torch there about 3 or 4 years ago now. Good prices, quick delivery, all good – but that was a long time ago

i have an xl Chameleon and built it up with Revs, XT, mavic xm rims etc, generally sturdy yet not too heavy stuff. Being an xl it was never gonna be sub 24lbs, it must have been about 28 if not more but it never felt slow…

oh yes, forgot to say – running a big ring at front (11-32 at back) as it’s mostly on the road. Perhaps its the big ring that makes the chain come off – only happens when shifting.

i’ve done it to an old Kona that I use as a hack bike more than anything. I prefer it to SSing myself but I do need a something to keep the chain in place over the front ring because it falls off if you use the outer gears. It’s a 1*5 at the moment I suppose, work in progress.

i’ve got the V1 bars, stem ans saddle and they’re all ace. I have their grips too which are good also. 745mm bars seem to fit me perfectly, and this is coming from Easton EA50s which I thought were the best at the time.

And a couple of thousand of jobs are likely to go down the pan as a result

why? I thought it was still going to be redeveloped just in a more traditional style.

I agree with the pram rattle sentiment

no probs so far, I think getting the saddle in was a bit of a faff but when riding it’s been fine.

It took about 2-3 weeks to get to me from ordering which was good.

I have one of these, it’s great. I have it in a ti-frame and the difference I can feel on a long ride is amazing, normally I get sore lower back and bum, often making it uncomfortable to ride the next day. Instead of going for full-suss I thought about ti like you. It works, I don’t get any major aches at all. However, I did have a Chameleon with a Thomson post – not the most forgiving for long rides.

I normally bend posts which is why I stuck with Thomson for so long. Havent bent this yet, shall wait and see.

did she ever do anything good? I never ever saw her answer a question directly so have absolutely no idea what she stood for. Kind of reminded me of one of those nodding dogs in the backs of cars – but not the Churchill advert one because I like him.

I found this thread offered lots of useful alternatives when I was contemplating the Charge Plug Grinder

    lalternatives – lots of

I ended up converting an old British Eagle though – it’s ace, cos I kept the freewheel on it and gave it some brakes 🙂

i have a feeling nickc is talking about non-eu immigrants whereas enfht is talking about within eu immigration – the latter which many people seem to have a problem with. I live in London – without immigration this place would not run at all (good I hear you cry :-))

i smell a singletrackworld biker build off in the making.

I’m very impressed, I impress myself when I get my gears working or bleed a brake.
