I got my 705 with the street mapping stuff, which is great for the road but useless for mountain biking. I am currently using some open source stuff for offroad, only really used it around Leith/Holmbury Hill so far but it seems to be pretty good as it is based on other people's GPS data. Not only does it have bridleways etc but smaller mtb specific tracks.

I think I am using openmtbmap (somewhere on this page), I have it for the whole of the country and best of all, it's totally free.

I like it, I'll go two up. My other half does it, she makes raviolli mostly with salmon and courgettes, mmmm, which is great. Doesn't take her too long, an hour or so (perhaps its because she's italian) although it does look like its been snowing in the kitchen afterwards.

As above though, when we are at her families'in Italy it's mostly dried pasta being eaten.

problem is it is unpolicable so it would be a waste of resources. Just look at mobile phone use in cars, it's against the law but I see it all the time. I don't necessarily want cars to be forced to go 20mph everywhere either(in most built up areas with parked cars and stuff it feels pretty daft to be doing more anyway), I just want them to have a bit of awareness of things on the road other than themselves.

problem with france is you'll be in a rabbit hutch – with 6 of you this can get quite aromatic. Cross the border into Switzerland or Italy and things get bigger straight away.

However, if you leave it right to the end you can get lucky – but more than likely you'll get a small appartment in France. I'd recommend a catered chalet for a last minute deal – free food and other company, also a bit bigger too.

mtb 4x should become an olympic sport i think – after the success of boardercross. probably the only thing that might inhibit it becoming an olympic sport is that bmx and 4x are very similar so would bmx have to be dropped for 4x to come in?

what with 100m, 200m, etc running races in the olympics perhaps 4x stands a chance. Having said that the swimming and velodrome events have had a trimming havent they?

the ladies bordercross was good viewing although I was waiting for one of them to do themselves some proper damage – the course was huge and many of them seemed to struggle. Much respect to them all.

in a similar position here. My 17 year old Volvo 480 failed it's MOT today in quite a big way. Major issues brakes and emissions. If it is a few hundred quid I'd be tempted to get it done but man in garage says 480 turbos are so rare these days that sourcing parts is getting increasingly more difficult – so future problems will get more and more expensive. It's the car's rarity (anf the fact it has pop up lights) that makes me want to keep it so much though. What to do?

CutePDF writer is a good little free tool – it works as if you were to print just the one page normally but instead of printing it saves as a PDF. After this you could explain to the secretary what her job entails (mine luckily is internet research)
