Mine was creaking; it turned out to be cracking

See that's why ti is special, it speaks to you 😉

mine creaks too, the pinch bolts on my left crank arm weren't quite tight enough, tightening helped enormously. Saddle bolts too, they needed tightening and that also helped. A ti post in a ti frame though, don't think I'll ever stop that creaking.

i got sold one good and proper, I say this because it was twice my budget but he made such a good case I went for it. Anyway it's a Norrona Falketind Flex and it's ace. Really stretchy and has very long sleeves with long bits over the knuckles in case you want to cycle in it. It's very good for snowboarding. The only thing it could do better is water resistance.

as per alexxx above, well all except the earning more in less time bit. And again I echo the bits about motivation and distraction, particularly while there has been world cup, wimbledon and now le tour action.

my turn to join this pointless conversation.

I thought 'mountain' biking was about just going out and exploring (both terrain and your abilities) and hopefully having some fun on the way. Each ride brings something different.

nice – looked fast enough to me. I recognised the bottom of it, I used to ride up the way many moons ago.

make sure you where headress and carry large machine guns, I think that makes it legal. A Toyota HiLux is preferable.

Lidar and radar – do they work underwater?

oh, I forgot the problems. None whilst riding at all. That was a very good experience. Putting the rack on on the other hand was one of those jobs that you think will only take 5mins or so and turned into an hour of sweating and swearing. Problem 1 – the rack I had (Blackburn) has prongs at the bottom of the supporting struts, one of these wanted to be where the brake caliper is so that needed sawing off (prong not caliper). Problem 2 – rack on, back wheel didn't spin. Discs needed aligning in the caliper again. Problem 3 – rack on, brake aligned, wheel not spinning. The bolt that holds the rack on interferes with the bottom ring of the cassette so I had to file the bolt head down to something silly (about 3mms) which made me a little uneasy however it held. Final problem and this was entirely my fault is that I tightened one of the supporting bolts into the frame too much and sheared the bolt. So, last job was to fix this with zip ties (night before so no time to get bolt removed). That held too. Happy days.

I used a rack once on a South Downs Way trip. I had everything (sleeping bag, thermarest, bivvy bag and some spare clothes) on the rack. Felt weird at first but that's because I have never used one before. It didn't take me long to get used to it though. Kind of gives you a nice planted feel although I did have to remember not to get too excited and try jumping the thing – that didn't work so well. I wound my forks in as well which helped. I also had to bungee the panniers down as well otherwise they'd flap around like dog ears but I doubt that has anything to do with the bike itself.

Here it is ready to go

aye but it wasn't just Rooney was it. It was the lot of them. There was at least the option to bring 3 different players on for at least half an hour and he could have still left Rooney on. Bringing Crouch on for 5 mins was a waste of time – he may not play the prettiest football but his England scoring record can't be sniffed at. Joe Cole I rate highly (not sure why, he's always injured), why wasn't he given a chance or is he going to be last WC's Walcott. However, from my armchair it's all very easy but I'd like to know reasons why Capello left everything (uninspired same ol' same ol' subs) so late.

why didn't Capello change it early on last night? Anyone hazard a guess as to why?

Come up to Kentish Town, loads of proper cheap greasy spoons there. However, it is going the wrong way. Round Borough Market will be good but more foody type posh breakfasts. It'll also be busy, very busy.

coffeking, I ride into central London, it's not that quiet. I have to say I do undertake vans if I consider it safe. I have also been known to bang on things – mainly bus drivers windows (not my proudest moment). Still, that van driver's behaviour was extraordinary.

I looked into them and alot of them are on their last legs

tell me about it. Mechanically mine is fine. It's the electrics. My god. It's like owning Herbie.

American muscle cars are really crap tho whippersnapper. Just crap. No redeeming features.

aesthetically they do it for me. It'd probably satisfy my boyhood Dukes of Hazard/Smokey and the Bandit/Cannonball Run/Vanishing Point dreams.

hora you should include a Volvo 480 in that list, they're fun projects 😯

with you on the Lada Niva for some strange reason.

I'd love a big old american muscle car/van. Then make it greener in some way .

I think the rider was very restrained there. In all my cycle commuting I have never seen a driver do that kind of thing. Admittedly, the final undertake was asking for trouble.

I'm with you on this Mr Krabs. I think Italy won because they were the best of a bad bunch. The standard of the matches in the last world cup seemed poor to me (not like Spain in the Euros). Enjoyed the big screen experience at Mountain Mayhem though.

Still, looking forward to this friday.

I have an iAudio x5 mp3 player. This has an FM radio and it has a record function and it lets you record the radio. I have not used either function though so can't say what it's like. I do use it in the car though.

I had my first successful surfing trip (to Llangennith) this weekend after a few attempts and am now able to get to my feet and stay on the board consistently. Normally get to my feet and fall immediately. The first time I stayed on I was actually confused, why is this happening? I soon learned to enjoy it. Got to work on the getting strong enough to get back out again. I want more.

Goldie is great. After DJing he'd often spend the rest of the night in the club chatting away with the punters.

He was pretty impressive in Meastro or whatever it was called when he learnt to be a conductor. A big step back up from Eastenders.

Do the bikes get weighed before/after a race

that's what I was thinking. Surely a 'doped bike' is easier to find than a 'doped rider'. Are the bikes not scrutinised during competition?
