I have the same sitting abilities Dogbert. I did manage to extract myself from in front of the computer at 3.30 I think. A quick hour’s potter on the bike really does do a world of wonders doesn’t it. I don’t know why I have to remind myself of this all of the time.

i had a look, didn’t see it down here in London. A few more days to try although it’s getting closer to the horizon which will make it trickier

He intrigues me but I have to say last night’s offerings were pointless. There was nothing new to cinema food there, just a slightly twisted version of what existed.

Still, I need to go to Bray to try his chips

I saw the London stages and then a stage the following year to the west of Lyon. Found ourselves a spot on a climb so it wasn’t over quite as fast as it could have been. But the build up was massive, excellent atmosphere amongst the spectators, and then the caravan comes, it lasted around 2 hours. The kids will love it.

Once the caravan has passed you won’t know what’s happening. Look out for the swarm of helicopters, they’ll give the game away as to when the riders are coming.

no rural poverty hasn’t always existed.

this intrigues me? Do you have any background info – not saying you are wrong (although I’ll admit to being sceptical) just very interested.

i would say no. I was a research assistant for over 4 years. I was initially on a 1 year contract but that was extended annually. But when the money ran out that was it – although I did get 4 years worth of redundancy money which was a bonus. I think most research posts are project specific – if there is money in the pot they will keep you. Nowadays, the money in the pot isn’t what it used to be.

turn the wireless router off at the wall. wait 10 seconds. turn it back on again. Restart laptop at the same time. Usually works for me.

Was in town planning, degree in geography with masters in environmental planning. Seems like both were a waste of time at present

…..this suprises me a little. Other than the public sector taking a massive hit the environmental sector will permeate into all industries so will remain relevant. There are plenty of geography/environment related consultancies around – work is a little slow but has been picking up.

I was in Les Arcs first week of feb. Beautiful weather but no snow. Stayed at Bike Village, most accommodating they were too.

OP – I went on the snow train. It’s ace. So much better than planes or buses. Two recommendations – slippers and those things you put over your eyes to block the light out and help you sleep (I can’t remember the name, not lids, could be mask). Oh, and a hip flask, quite a big one.

it’s all about data collection. Data is valuable stuff. I like the idea of logging the use of a bike component. However, I would be loathed to detail each component on my bike before or after I rode. Therefore your application should allow very easy data entry (i.e. a checklist of what you are using)…..and some sort of mechanism to relog if you make an error.

an old TSG pisspot and a buff does the trick for me. First time I needed it this year too and it certainly did the trick.

A couple of the people I was with had ski/boarding specific ones and there heads steamed each time they took them off…..they look a bit warm.

romantically I yearn for something different. What that is I don’t know. But we, that being everyone really need to shift our behaviour. Capitalism produces waste on a massive scale and that ain’t good for anyone (well except the few at the top).

I have 719s with 2.25 tyres on and I find it very squirmy at the back end. I am tempted to get wider rims….first choice is always Mavic though, I don’t think you can go wrong with Mavic.

I have a 20″ frame which seems to be roughly 135mm from top of forks to the top of the frame (so includes the bottom headset cup which is an On-One Smoothie). I have about 220mm of steerer but this includes 30mm of spacer and a Kona stem. If that helps….

….I’m not the only one. Tonight will be a struggle, thursday night is student night and I’ve retained my student habits exceedingly well for the last 10 years.

this thread is actually making a tad easier which is good. Ta for encouragement and good luck to everyone else.

I used these the other day for a trip back from boarding in the Alps (although I have bought the tickets, the money has gone from my account but no sign of a confirmation email yet! Not the best endorsement but I am sure it will all be fine. Fingers crossed)
