I’m not alone in wanting this am I?

I just received my nexus this week. I am very happy with it indeed although still learning my way around. I’m blown away by photosphere, not unique to the nexus but still it’s brilliant.

I saw the thread title and thought ‘good luck’. Instead, blimey, well done.

I took a 29er to the alps. Switchbacks that tight were new to me anyway. It was fine. And I didn’t die. The people at the chairs sometimes struggled to get my bike on properly though.

    lots here too

I have used some of the links above for France and Italy – I just can’t remember which ones, sorry.

EDIT: I think it was Openmtbmap.org

I don’t know if The Source (bike and snowboard shop) in Canmore and Calgary still exist but if so could be worth chatting to them.

More efficient that way, and that’s a good thing. Right?

I know you’re joking but no, no it is not a good thing. It is a very very bad thing. Should be made illegal. As should cold callers who hang up on you when you are not interested…and and. I have generally given up answering the phone unless I know the number.

tested one, wanted one, couldn’t have one. I wanted an XL and they sold out pretty damn quickly, this was last year. I was impatient so ended up with a Tallboy LT. A better bike for me to be honest (it goes up very well indeed), last year’s bandit was a beast (in a good way) probably better suited for heading down the way. I think they have changed this year’s Bandit to slightly less travel. If I was still in the market for a bike it would be on the list.

Euston to Hyde Park is a bit confusing because Belgravia and Soho are a mass of small one way streets with Oxford Street in the middle. If I was doing it I would cut down to St James Park, up to Buckingham Palace and into Hyde Park (you get to see some sights that way).

Getting lost in London on a bike can be fun though. Plenty to see.

I have ah HD up front and an ardent on the back. Seems to do the job.

….having no musical talent whatsoever I could not tell you if he was a good DJ or not. I have to say he does it for me though, even if he uses the same mixes and tunes over and over. Saw him support QOTSA ages ago, it was brilliant.

    Thanks for the link OP.

That video doesn’t do it justice. Brilliant riding. Challenging track but a hell of a lot of fun.

…or almost next door to above Nazaks for some decent curry. There’s an Argentinian place opened up just up the way as well which looks interesting. Havent been though. Otherwise Parkway or Inverness Street have quite a lot to offer. For posh pub grub come up to kentish Town, Lion and Unicorn or the Oxford in particular (beer not cheap though).

Yup, sorted with the organiser. Taken his place but need to pay and register separately.

Did the person you are replacing get a refund? I have just been asked to be a replacement but was unaware that photo ID etc was needed.

In a similar position op….I have been mostly pootling this year so very unprepared.

…in two minds about it this year. I have done it the last two years and enjoyed both. Last year went so perfectly with weather, mechanicals (only one snapped chain between two of us and that was on the way back), breakfast in the pub, watching the sunrise whilst swimming, and getting to Ipswich station 5 mins before the train came that I am not sure it could be as good again. Perhaps that is defeatest.

Yeah there was definitely a bit which regained my attention pretty promptly…

can’t imagine what that bit was 🙂

    Saw it last night, enjoyed.

flange, they did this with the Tallboy LT last year. The frames were available once the initial full builds had been sold. Didn’t take too long.

I’m just curious how a bicycle can cost £9000?

I don’t the answer to this. I do know when I bought an SC last year I priced up all the kit on it and even sourcing from all over the place the savings wouldn’t have been much (mostly on forks). That is not to say I think the price is good, I would have thought there should be some saving on kit by buying a bike complete but this doesn’t seem to be the case, unless buying a Canyon or YT for example.

why do people care what other people spend their money on or what they ride and where they ride it?

Having owned an SC for over 10 years I think the ride of them and the fit of them for me is brilliant. Love them. I bought one originally because my mate had a Chameleon and it just felt perfect.

Luckily I look and ride like a cock anyway so I am not sure the bike would change much.

Donk, I share your creaking. My Spoon pretty much creaked out of the box. It is one of tonight’s jobs to try and sort it. Most of the stuff I’ve read on the web seems to involve greasing the rails and the seat clamp bolts. Fingers crossed.

I like it too. Whether it’s placebo or not it seems to do the trick. I use it on bike or boarding trips and for work when I may be feeling a little worse for ware.

yes, but the slopes I am thinking of are ripped up by big tyres braking as they corner at speed, not the type of braking mark that an XC bike would cause on such a slope.

….why is this different to you using your Turner as opposed to others using a hardtail?

    whippersnapper

I have an alu LT. It is my first full susser and I absolutely love it. My riding sounds pretty similar to yours with the odd trip to the Alps, Lakes, Scotland thrown in for good measure. The only rides I have been underwhelmed on are flat xc stuff where my hardtail is without doubt better (except when it snowed), or should I say more fun. Anything with a bit of gradient (long or short) and the LT is brilliant. Descends with confidence and climbs superbly.

Before buying I tested the non LT and I loved that too. It is without doubt the fastest bike I have ridden and is extremely capable, even leaving the ground was no problem on it, it is very stable. I just wanted something a touch more relaxed. However for one bike to do it all it has to be pretty good option.

Glad to hear that lady gresley, having done well with stopping smoking last year after the herbal stuff I have fallen back into it again. I ended up hating the honey rose. Trying Greengo now.

a selection of mine, excluding those already mentioned above

    Slayer – South of Heaven
Anthrax – Sounds of White Noise
    Skyscraper – Superstate
Ugly Kid Joe – Least Wanted (it counts as metal, my computer says so)
Skid Row – this was the first CD I ever heard so it gets a mention

Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu, Kyuss, Colour Haze, Truckfighters these days

Bought the new Ugly Kid Joe EP on a nostaglic whim last year, which has turned out to be ‘a bit of a grower’

Thanks, Least Wanted is one of favourite albums. Look forward to hearing new stuff from them.

Slayer South of Heaven is my latest rediscovery.

Out of interest what was wrong with the mythic? A friend of mine has just put down a deposit on a banshee, should he be worried?

I had a go on on the alu 66, liked it a lot, just didn’t think I’d be able to do it justice

clever that RD – took me a while to work out what was going on. You’ve either superimposed yourself, jumped the puddle and caught the shot before the splash or more likely a track stand.
