I have the latest versions of both. The only difference is 11spd rather than 10 and the colour. I bought the 105 groupset separately but the tiagra came on a bike. If buying a groupset again it’d be hard to justify getting 105 just because it’s black.

Just made my donation. Not much but every little helps. Keep on giving, I don’t imagine £40k actually goes very far when rehabilitation in a situation like this is involved.

I was there on Saturday. Traveled a couple of hours to get there and the place was dead compared to usual. I guess that was because most of the trails are closed.

We did 2 red runs. Some of the diversions were quite good fun if you like teetering on the edge of disaster through slippy. I’ve not really enjoyed the red the last few times so I’d have preferred to do the black but I think there are a lot of diversions there too.

What was good was that it was incredibly windy and we were never really affected on the red run. The same wouldn’t have been true if we’d gone on the black or to Innerleithen so it still made for a good all weather option.

Thank you. Just bought a few for pressies and one for myself too of course.

Went for some sks longboards in the end and bought the part that boblo suggested. Hopefully they’ll arrive today and I can get to work firing them tonight.

I’ve just bought one from eBay which should arrive today so I’ll let you know what it’s like.

Trickyd444 I bought the same tyres for mine. Wow, what a difference, it’s like night and day. Really pleased with the Michelins. I’d been looking at high rollers but these seem just as good if not better and are a pretty decent price too. Thoroughly recommended.

Were all of the above easy to fit our did they take any kind of diy fix to work around the calipers?

Well in the end I decided I couldn’t bear to part with my titanium bike nor the thought of spending thousands on a bike to drag through salty roads.

Instead I bought this in the black Friday sales for a ridiculously good price.

Not been out on it yet but it’s sure to be fun and will open up a few other options for the commute to and from work.

I’ve been an architect for 10 years and still haven’t found a tradesman that I could recommend to be punctual and courteous. Unfortunately a lot of them will try and get away with doing as little as they can rather than a proper job but there are some good ones. Like Bigyinn says recommendations from friends are probably going to give you the most reliable contractor but generally set your expectations low and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the advice. I think I tried Ubuntu previously but can’t remember why I got rid of it. Will have to reinvestigate that one.

No Mac for me. Haven’t found anything that a Mac can do that can’t be done as well or better by something much cheaper…. yet.

Roger_mellie, I might be too late but over black Friday weekend sigma sport were doing 125 off on a 750 spend. I got the caad x tiagra some bar tape and pedals for 625. Best bargain since the cannondale trigger that I bought last month. Time to stop spending now

We’ll be travelling from near St Andrews. Lots of choice there but quite expensive. Hopefully I’d like something that’s about an hours drive away.

Have been to Mabie House before and liked it but that’s probably a bit too far.

For me the Cannondale caad x with tiagra groupset can’t be beaten at £625. I’m trying to resist!

The Bowman does look good but it doesn’t look very good value next to the caad 12. I know the Bowman may ride wonderfully and doesn’t look to bad either but given the history of the cannondale having always been a well thought of bike it still seems like the best bet so far.

How did speculating about buying a lovely new Cannondale descend into chat about sweaty backs

Hmmm. Those brakes are cheaper than ones I’ve seen elsewhere but even if I got them (£200), some wheels (£300) and say the kinesis 4s (£600) I’d be up at £1100 already. I’d also need to buy some wider tyres (£50) but I think that’s it in terms of whether I’m better off swapping frame and wheels or the whole bike.

So unless I’ve missed anything I’d probably have a frame and brakes as good as the caad 12 disc but significantly better wheels.

I think my current bike would be worth about 1k max as a whole or £650 for frame and wheels so there’s not a lot in it in terms of whether I’m better off swapping frame and wheels or the whole bike.

Do boardman do big enough sizes? I’d be needing a 60 or 63cm. I’d previously discounted them because they were too small.

That does look very nice for the price. Still like the cannondale in terms of racier geometry though.

Might have been done already but they’re now back in stock at Paul’s. Fifty quid more expensive this time but still an absolute bargain.

    nicer

Perhaps I could justify it by saying it’s worth the extra because it’s hi-viz.

I use the same one for mountain biking so it’s just habit. I’m not too fussed about my work clothes getting a little creased either. It’s also easier to carry the bike up steps etc if need be.

Was also considering swapping frames to a kinesis s4 and converting to discs at a later date but the cheapest way to get hydraulic discs seems to be as part of a full bike

Just needs to be capable of having sks race blades fitted. I prefer a rucksack to racks for my 20 mile commute.

Yes it is! The reliable Germans have it. 20 euros plus 15 euros postage stings a bit. At least I now know where I can get one though, thanks. I’ve a feeling at that price I might just make one on my dad’s lathe when I next visit him and settle with 1×10 for now.

Oh well, I’m stuck with 1×10 as cannondale UK don’t have the part so none of the UK dealers I’ve spoken to can get the part. Bit of a pain but never mind I’ll just get out and enjoy it

Should have also asked if there are any alternatives to the 4S disc that I should be considering. I wouldn’t want anything more expensive than that though.

Well so far I’ve not used either of those so that’s good. Will give aquamac a call tomorrow.

Cheers Rascal. I’ve already sold my expander cog and narrow wide ring so I’m going to improvise with an old 30t ring and my 11-36 cassette along with a chainguide until I can get my 2×10 running again.

Thanks very much guys. I’ve contacted the nearest Cannondale dealers to me too so hopefully I’ll manage to find one somewhere.

Anyone able to help at all? Can’t even find anywhere that you can buy one new. What a pain!

It’s the circular part in this picture. It goes in a hole on the back of the chainstay brace and the gear cable outer stops in it.

Aargh. I’ve just dropped the little piece or if the swing arm of my trigger that routes the front derailleur cable. It’s disappeared down the drain in the garage door! Does anyone has gone 1×10 have a spare one I could buy or know of where I could get one? Cheers

I’d be interested in this too. I also have sash and case windows that are in reasonable condition although a bit draughty. I’m in a conservation area too and the cost of replacements is eye watering so I feel your pain. :-)

I’m afraid I swapped to a second hand slx crank with 104 bcd when I did mine. Went with a fire eye narrow wide. Do hope, uberbike or superstar do one, they usually have all bases well covered?

Here’s my trigger 4 set up 1×10. Loving the bike so far. Rear suspension is amazing but need to play with the air pressure in the fork to get it feeling equally plush. Not sure about 27.5 yet, the front end just seems so heavy but I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

Have put a longer chain on and that has sorted it. Am having some trouble with the chain slipping on the expander cog but am having some success after screwing the B screw all the way in. Am going to take a few links out of the new chain too.
