in for the sport on the sunday, distance and climb wise i feel its ok,
how steep, techinical have the main sections been. i tend to ride offroad rather than trail centres. so used to the rough stuff of yorkshire/ dark peak etc.

i’d consider myself more XC, will i die

yep paypal requires a tracking reference, proof of delivery and so if someone pays by paypal and then collects your item, then you have no proof it got delivered, hence take a cash payment on collection.

ebay has always been full of scammers, i sold a jacket last week, that i could have delivered on my regular bike route a few miles away, but i decided it best to post.

you can normally spot honest folk, but even then, folk with 000s of feedbacks can still play the game

Sowerby brothers in mirfield have got a fair few specialised mtb helmets, Evans in Leeds and cycelsurgery have an alright selection too..

Was in cyclesurgery last week and they have a basic selection too.
The place in saltaire usually had a good selection including 661 / giro but not been in a few years

Or as others have said measure your forehead circumference and order two sizes online crc have the ixs trail that is popular

its london so i’d get a few quotes, maybe get a northerner to come down and give him his tea

the m615 deore come in around the £100 mark,

it seems shimano prices have really gone up in the last 6 months, SLX m675 were to be had for the £80 mark (£108 on merlin per bobs link above), m615 deore £70, i got some m8000 XT for £120 now £150 everywhere.
i was pricing up the xt m8000 drivetrain mid summer, looked the other day and that all seems to have got an extra £15-20 per part. :0(

on CRB the SLX m7000 brakes are a tenner more than the XT m8000s ??
Brexit has caught up with us.

my backpack in my last week of work in sydney, with a flight onto california (backpack year)

it had all my money, bank card, passport, flight tickets (was getting photocopies at work), a new camera, and 11 months of photos on sd cards, 500 us dollars.
    and on and on..

an old mate rang me on my way home and said fancy a beer, well you know the ending, fell asleep on the last manly ferry and woke up in botany bay by a cleaner, i got up and walked.. forgetting my bag

anyway, got a call 2 days later, they had found the bag and they rang flightcentre, who got in touch with me, as i knew the girl.

    lucky..

I’m pretty sure my bigger pack is the raptor 14, *nope just checked it’s the viper13* it has pull in straps so it can hold well and a lot of pockets, too many pockets if anything, I only use it on full day rides when I’m on a train , so I can take sandwiches, spare top, jacket and more tools, spare chain etc,

10 litre would be better for a 2-3 hour ride , I use an evoc cc 6L that can fit plenty

Might be worth considering the evoc cc 6 litre down to £40 on Merlin incl 2L bladder
    https://www.merlincycles.com/evoc-cc-team-6l-hyrdration-pack-with-2l-bladder-95775.html
I just got the 3L evoc for £25, for night rides when I don’t need the water so can carry basics on top

keep your core, and feet and hands warm and you don’t need trousers,
Goretex boots and bib shorts, mt500 waterproof shorts if it’s raining to avoid those cold mud splashes up your back and it’s all good..

Endurance make zyme, hummvee and singletrack trousers which look pretty decent

Strava. A club group can be set up from more, I.m not sure you can make private segments for a group as such, but if you connect accounts then click on a segment and then click on followers, to see the quickest riders on individual hills,

Use a laptop version rather than the app as easier to setup segments etc

Yeah just had another look now and that was my first impression, happy to do road to link up good trails, but if it’s not overly entertaining then not sure it’s worth the time, as it’s a good 1.5 hour drive over,
Used to the hills and trails of hebden bridge, west yorkshire , lady bower /dark peak etc.
Just wondering if pushing far afield may open up a few new routes for me

If you are taking your bikes theirs some great riding, marsden/holmfirth/ Hebden bridge etc
Same areas are great for walking (moorland or reservoir circuits) , maybe base yourself in the Peak District, Yorkshire dales, huddersfield is 1-2 hours from so many places Manchester, Liverpool, Whitby/Yorkshire coast, saltaire, bronte country, assuming you are driving.

Drinking as slimP has said check out magic rock taphouse, I’d probably avoid the town centre these days used to be a great night out but full of dicks these days , marsden riverhead pub has good food full of dog walkers , tunnelhead canal is a good walk
Holmfirth also has some good pubs/bars / restaurants

Buy them on Amazon from Amazon that way u get the a-z guarantee for a refund, as regards blowing up and burning down your house, as with any recharging only recharge them when you are in the house never leave charging when you are out or on work tops or carpet, best to charge on the oven top I’d say

I got the spectral 7.0 ex with pike ( large 5.10 I’m very borderline) a solid build the sram wheels are far better than I expected it runs Great downhill but feels a bit sluggish and heavy uphill compared to my Nerve (size medium)

You’ll have to see what canyon are bringing out as XL sold out in that model , announcement of 2017 bikes any time, delivery will be a good few months I’d expect

For my local riding West Yorkshire, peaks, Hebden bridge with lots of climbing etc it can feel a bit overbiked, I’m happy on 120mm suspension if I’m honest

as above, but looking on CRB for m7000 vs m8000, the slx aint that much cheaper

    derailleur £45 vs £56
    cassette £50 vs £60
    shifter £27 vs £34

so £28 more. or £122 vs £150 not even a round of beers for a few mates

Definately independent is the way to go. They’ll usually offer good advice and tell you the truth, yellow gold isn’t so fashionable these days and if you have diamonds that are “old cut” again you.ll get a lower value.

Get a few quotes, as you.ll find some offer x2 on the lower end of the market

We recently had some rings made by a guy in Leeds, a really nice guy with passion for mtb’ing got chatting about Santa Cruz lol..
Anyway he valued and cleaned up some old rings for my mum, a few of the rings had the old cut diamonds and he said they command a Lower price, although an insurance repacement will value them at replacement cost at new cut.

He offers to display rings and take a commission on the sale, which could be an option, I’m sure precious metal and diamond dealers all work in similiar fashion

For me on the front the enduroguard by rrp is spot on, perfect sizing and keeps the fork seals cleanish, reduces at least 90% of the mud in n the face,
    Cheapest on ebay

Thanks Northwood, Nash, I noticed in recent months Hermes have added to t&cs tat an admin charge will be levied for incorrect measurements and over weight

Ups £10 seems the best option, I got some 650b wheels earlier in the year from uk mail , but I can’t find them unless a business

Everyone I find a company either the packet size or weight is too big so alternatives offered go well over £15,
Just tried parcel monkey and wheels are on the restricted list for parcelforce

Thanks creamegg I’ve added some dimensions on that site and they are quoting multiple companies, whereas when I have looked at myhermes direct the total length X width X height is borderline acceptable..

i’ve used them a few times too, custmer service wasnt too bad either when my rear mech snapped and my derailleur got stuck in my mavic bladed spokes and ripped a spoke straight out of the Rim, they replaced the wheel. was shocked.

i also use bike-discount.de (watch out for the fake site though, similiar name)

as others have said prices due to FX rates after brexit dont help, rock shox forks can be real cheap too, as are raceface cranks.
