FTSE 100 FTSE overview | London Stock Exchange

nov23 to mar24 ftse100 up from 7300 to 7900, clearly the latest policies are working

AI answer microsoft copilot on bing

The FTSE 100, London’s blue-chip share index, has experienced a remarkable increase of 600 points since November 2023. Let’s delve into the factors contributing to this surge:

    1. Energy Boom: The rise in oil and gas prices following Putin’s invasion of Ukraine about a year ago has significantly boosted the profits and share prices of the FTSE 100’s two oil giants. Notably:

      <ul style=”display: flex; flex-direction: column; gap: 4px; margin: 12px 0px 0px; padding-inline-start: 24px;”>

    2. Shell reported record net profits of nearly $42.3 billion last year, the highest in its 115-year history.
    3. BP more than doubled its earnings to $28 billion.
    4. Both companies have seen substantial share price gains, with Shell’s shares rising by almost <strong style=”pointer-events: none;”>60% and BP’s climbing by nearly two-thirds since the start of 20221.
    5. Global Economy: The FTSE 100 comprises multinational companies whose revenues and profits come from around the world. Approximately 75% of their revenues are derived from overseas markets. Factors influencing this include:

      <ul style=”display: flex; flex-direction: column; gap: 4px; margin: 12px 0px 0px; padding-inline-start: 24px;”>

    6. Hopes for Global Recovery: As wholesale energy prices have fallen back, hopes for a global economic recovery have risen. Inflation in major economies, including the US, may have peaked, suggesting central banks might ease the pace of rapid rate hikes.
    7. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that while the UK’s GDP may shrink by 0.6%, global growth is forecast to be 2.9% in 2023.
    8. Changes in the foreign exchange market, where the pound has depreciated against the euro and US dollar, also impact FTSE earnings1.

In summary, a combination of energy sector gains, global economic prospects, and currency dynamics has contributed to the FTSE 100’s impressive performance despite the challenging economic climate1. 📈🌍💼

i’ve just taken on a personal phone, having had a work phone for 16 years, lots of recent new rules and sign off on business use devices usage to contend with,

my workphone is now mail/calendar / security apps and teams et al

my personal phone just has the calendar linked, no distractions..

peaceful, although when i skip work to go to the gym or ride (when it stops raining so much)

i’ll have to take my workphone :0)

i guess only ex wiggle staff will know what orders/stock is currently finished awaiting shipment / in transit / suez canal etc. guess there must be stock due into the UK in the coming months. depends whats been paid and what has not, although timing wise, 35-60 days slow boat from china, wiggle parent stopped funding them october 2023, so in theory, no stock has been paid since then., so is any stock due ?

it wont be sold ultra cheap, as they’ll have to support warranty.

    muddy fox bike anyone..

test ride, having moved from a top spec trail bike 150/150 to a mid spec enduro 170/160

it does everything so much better, climbs, drops, jumps, flat acceleration you name it.

but, I know people who have gone big and they’ve been disappointing lumps.

    @daffy

gig tickets and the like is totally different, back in noughties my brother knew a few people working at ticketmaster,

they all used to get interest free credit cards, and effectively buy the full front row, best tickets. then flog them on ebay. turning over £000s, that was an internal issue as much as a general tout issue..

personally i’d prefer all tickets to have a name and picture on, with a fixed fee £10-20 to amend the tickets,

chain reaction, wiggle, lots of lines which can be bought elsewhere, I’ve only missed out on items were i’ve waited as wanted a lower price, keep an eye on stock levels  and buy asap.

whats the message on the evri tracking?

i find the update of progress on wiggle / crc order history is first rate and accurate, from their you can click on the evri/parcelforce link

evri are great for me decent local delivery a few warehouses are nearby, so many parcels come next day, wiggle and CRC havent shipped on time, but once they have items have been coming in a few days..

if anyone wants spare pedal pins and bolts for the neutron composite pedals these are 99p

    https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/nukeproof-horizon-comp-replacement-pins

ordered a couple of pairs and these are not per the listing name, pictures are right though..

i guess the 1 star review is correct, as they are shipping the horizon neutron pins/bolts..

@homatron, essentially, sell more than 30 items or 1800 euros in a calendar year (from 1stjan2024) and the platform will send seller information to hmrc (from 1st Jan 2025). hence this year will be the first trial year of this process ebay have stated when you approach this limit funds may be placed on hold until you provide ebay your NI number. once self assessments are setup digitally from 2028 [?] it’ll be much slicker.

tax allowance is technically £1000 income per year unless you are deemed to be trading

likely to mean more people will need to submit self assessments

just an idea, pros/cons, its certainly not foolproof

section 75, must put in  a claim within 120 days. consumer rights act 2015.

the claim is you bought the bike believing it came with warranty, [trouble is i cant find warranty info for vitus or nukeproof bikes], Section 75 card protection: 5 things you need to watch out for – Which? News

you’d have to proof the fault was known/ present at time of purchase

“You have the same rights from your finance provider as you have against the retailer under this legislation.”             Faulty product? How to get a refund, repair or replacement – Which?

Was having this discussion about nukeproof and vitus bikes earlier  , would it be possible to charge back on a section 75 if it breaks assuming you’ve bought on a credit card

I believe it means theirs a plastic stopper on the levers and hose end with caliper so you can fit them through the frame and then fit back togeather without the need to rebleed

and yes caliper will come fitted with resin only pads, I think they’ll be the standard smaller Shimano pad that come in many materials, so switch them

ps seen quite a few Shimano lever / caliper deals on CRC , when I fitted my old drop gravel bike with post mount brakes I used the lower level Shimano caliper and hose and just took of the levers, note their are two standard sizes of end olive/barbs so double check that

up your credit card limit and keep an eye on wiggle..

in seriousness, if you have a spare room, put a desk in, close it off, dont work more hours than you are paid, chill and relax.. playing banging house music or rock, listen to jeremy vine and chunter.

Some right deals but you had to work hard to find them and then buy quickly and frequently, it helps to know your requirements up front, there was a right mix of hope wheels
(6 colours, 4 size rims , multiple rim structures and widths, 4 or 5 spoke counts, CL or 6 bolt, 5 freehub types,

I managed to bag 2 rear wheels and a spare hub (just for the microspline) only one has shipped so far
If you’d tried to get a pair it was impossible

Rather than trawl through everything go for the brands you wear , or items you require .

People will always go for the big ticket items first , the sram xx1 powermetre axs drivetrain sets didn’t last long although had a few variants sat in my basket for half an hour at 3pm

@northwind you now get stats for listing On HUKD , that pink/cream five ten jacket I posted has had 170k views on screens,
5800+ clicks onto the post and then 1500+ click through to house of Fraser,
On house of Fraser I had a popup saying popular product sold 48 in the last 24 hours, and that’s a pretty standard post ..

Wiggle is likely getting far more hits as we all text our mates they text other friends then everyone’s clicking away

Report him, the expired MOT is likely favourable for you, they’ll not do alt about the incident but he may get points for mot, tax, lack of insurance et al..

Ps hope you have better look with police scotland, west Yorkshire police do nothing for a cycling going through a car windscreen caught on CCTV ,
