    Those are Mavic Cosmic Carbones. Aero but heavy cause they’re clinchers with an alloy breaking surface.

    Must just be you. All the roadies I meet are friendly and give a nod of the head/wave if they aren’t dying of exhaustion.

    The Cinelli ones are quite nice, and half the price of the official ones.

    Breakaway to try and get away on the cat 4 climb at the end only to be pulled back in with 2km to go and for Cav to win as usual.

    Its poor but there are different standards across different sports, and unfortunately within the same sport. Look at Ferdinand, 8 month ban. Rasmussen got a 2 year ban. There have been cyclists who have tested positive for clenbuterol before (when in South America where they do use it in cattle) and they got 1 year bans.

    I’d forgotten how good Kirroughtree was until I rode 10 @ kirroughtree at the weekend. Flowing, technical in parts, lots of down for your uphill efforts. The red has chicken runs, not sure about the black as its been so long since I’ve done it. None of the really hard stuff is too long so it can easily be walked if need be. Dalbeattie is good too but not as flowing and it doesnt have the cafe etc that Kirro has.

    Singletrack needs to change its name or limit the road based threads. There’s plenty of road forums, why can’t members talk roadie on those and MTB on here?
    Before anyone says it, this is not a “cycling” forum. It’s called Singletrack and it’s about MTBing.

    How about you just dont read the road threads?

    Great video mate. I even make a blurred back ground appearance at 2:58 :D

    I dont have any one favourite but attacking or hard as nails riders do it for me. Jens “shut up legs” Voigt, Tommy V, Crazy Thomas de Ghent, Johnny Hoogerland and little Amets Txurruka all get my full support. I’ve even come around to supporting Vino in the last two years :o

    I heard Miller on Radio Scotland this afternoon saying that the old ways were dying and that it was a lot more cut throat in the pelaton with less respect now. Maybe the roll of patron is consigned to the past?

    Last years ‘mechanical’ was entirely his own fault and so I dont think attacking was all that much out of order. Although the French didnt like it at the time.

    Warton is right, Spartacus is only bothered when its his own team who is on the road. Miller or Thor would be good, but as stated above if they’re not in yellow or pink they maybe dont have enough clout.

    Thought everyone slowed right up yesterday after the big pile up where Vino broke himself. The breakaway guys gained 2/3 minutes there and you could see them all sat up/discussing with the race organisers. Looked like Thor, Gilbert and Spartacus doing the organising. Usually the guy in yellow, pink etc is the guy that takes charge of things like that.

    Excellent course. Brilliant natural downhill sections with some ‘interesting’ rooty bits. And good use of the existing kirro singletrack. I’d forgotten how pedaly it can be which is good as it keeps it interesting but bad for tired legs! Hope the guy who did his back in and the fellow with the suspected broken legs are ok :s

    Running a 2.25 Advantage on the front at the moment – it comes up pretty big.

    Although I’m pretty light, I’ll happily admit that I’m not the most accurate of riders and have a habit of crashing/hitting things when going pretty fast so something on the stronger side would probably be best. I’ll have a look at Superstar – the potential for green rims/hubs/frame is tempting even though it’ll probably looks nasty!

    Its a M475 hub on Bontrager Ranger rim on the rear and the front wheel is the front wheel from a Cannondale prophet from a few years back. Formula hub dt swiss spokes, not sure what kind of rim is it :oops: The bike was built up from 2nd hand bits so its a bit of mish mash.

    Horrible day out there. Really shite weather. Philippe Gilbert or Evans for todays win.

    We are also able to run at much lower pressures (86-100 psi), which lets the wheel roll directly over variations in the road, instead of bouncing off of them (like when you have rock-hard 120 psi tires…) The end result is faster, and you can feel it immediately when you ride the system.

    Ok, so the guy is talking about tubeless, but the theory holds true for normal tyres too.

    Have a look at the Asus Transformer. Looks really nice, pretty cheap, runs Android (Honeycomb) and has a detachable keyboard so it turns into a netbook type device too.

    So long as the electrical wiring in your house is decent Id highly recommend homeplugs. Brilliant bits of kit. http://www.solwise.co.uk/net-powerline.htm

    Most software cant take advantage of 4 cores yet, so 6 is probably overkill.

    I wouldnt of thought you’d need to double wrap, unless, as mentioned, you’re planning on riding on cobbles a lot!

    Lots of good advice already, wrap to outside and finishing with electrical tape works a treat. The finishing tape that comes with them can be a bit crap. Also make sure you have about half a width overlapping the ends so you can tuck them in when you put the end caps on.

    something like

    function incX(x)
    {
    if(x == 1){
    return 1
    }
    if (x==0){
    return 0
    }
    return (1.29 * x)

    }

    That syntax is probably wrong but its been a while since I’ve done javascript.

    Minimum pressure in my Pro 3’s are 87 psi I think. Running them over 100 is pointless imo. Less comfy ride and may slow you down because they bump over small road deformities rather rather that forming round them.

    whatnobeer
    Free Member

    I’d run the tyres slightly softer than 100 psi, 90 will give a comfier ride and not slow you down any. Make sure the saddle is at the right height, as far up as it can go without your hips rocking when you pedal should do the trick. And you might need to fettle with the bars rotation so that the hoods are in a comfy position. You should be able to brake from them and spend most of your time riding on them, so make sure they’re not too far down or too far up for you. Thats probably about it.

    Maybe not a lot of help, but I’ve got a HTC trohpy 7. Great handset and WP7 is a brilliant OS. Very pleased with it. Snappy and responsive software and hardware. Not used it as a gps though.

    Been riding a Ridley Crossbow on the road for the last month or so. Feels a bit weird, a bit twitch, higher at the front and I’m not confident descending quickly on as I am my road bike. That said, it does road bike very well, very comfy and not too heavy. Its just not quite as good as my proper road bike.

    Unless they were cycling taking up both lanes, and he swerved all the way into the other lane, then maybe she didn’t give them enough room? They do sound a bit discourteous but it sounds like they were totally in their rights to do it…

    You defend their picking on a little old woman in her micra too? Because their your lycra brothers you’d be lining up to give her a dig eh?

    The little old woman is driving a car which if she’s not careful could kill a cyclist very easily indeed. Just sayin…

    Probably depends on what kind of riding he’s used to. The 7 stanes are wonderful facilities. There’s a lot of good riding in and around the highlands too. Laggan, Golspie, Dunkeld etc plus all the natural, non trail centre stuff around too.

    You should

    * never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends

    Should rather that must.

    Its also often safer to ride 2 abreast rather than single file.

    BE Broadband everytime. Maybe not the cheapest (but still cheap), and afaik they dont do line rental, but it is a very good service. Great customer care and they dont throttle or restrict your bandwidth.

    I heard that SAT didnt stand for Standard Assessment Test any more because it wasnt a standard assessment, so was just SAT now. So SAT Tests would be accurate?
