Mother used to make apple dumplings in them….they were a dessert but were like a meal in themselves.

Essentially an apple in the middle of a doughey mixture wrapped up in cloth and tied in top to make a large ball. When cooked you’d open it up spinckle liberally with sugar and dive in,..i really need one right now, but not had one in about 25 years!

Similar to this, but without the browned top, which is suspect was done after cooking.

I can’t find a single part where he claims he was conceived as some sort of response to the marches. That said I’ve not READ the whole thing, just scan read it and searched for keywords.

    I’m going to call… bullshit

yeh,..you need to read it properly and take a look at the video on page two of this thread before calling me out.

    Extreme scrutiny

Obama claimed in a speech (March 4 – 2007 in Selma, Alabama) that his father and mother decided they would have him (Obama Jr) – a mixed race child, because they were inspired by the protest movement in Selma Alabama, the Marches (3 marches that took place in 1965).

He was in fact born in 1961.

take your time on the way there.

allow time for an unexpected puncture.

take a back-up light set or spare batteries where appropriate.

    wear overshoes.

keep shoes at work and spare socks.

    check the forecast.

    enjoy.

    Miami @ Pittsburgh (brrrrrrr)

We (Steelers) should beat the phins at home, they are without their starting qb and our stars bell, brown, ben are well rested. Phins will look to run it on us, as we have a weekend D’line.

    Phins 17 Steelers 27

    Raiders @ Texans

The Carr less Raiduuuurs will struggle.

    Riaders 13 Texans 24

    Lions @ Seattle

Seattle are a shadow of their team a few years back, but are eking out wins, the Lions are better than in years, this should be close with the Lions finally getting over the hump.

    Lions 21 Seattle 17

and Giants @ Green Bay (double Brrrrrr)

    the conditions win it

Is it a disposable reception desk?

its quiet a low traffic area and it has to go up a flight of stairs, I really don’t have the knowledge on materials,…as demonstrated. 8)

    cheers.

shelf is 800mm off floor…and she’s not a receptionist, so won’t be sat at it most the time. :-)

I thought the shelf just gave a bit more space and exposed more of the shelf to light.

Materials wise, not sure, but we don’t want it heavy and cumbersome, I thought the sides could be made out of 8/10mm foamex and attached to the framework or is that b*****x?

black tea one sugar,..nice work indeed.

Ha ha already have a logo…

Just out of interest and to keep this thread alive… here is the drawing, it’s 1200mm high, 900mm wide front face with 750mm return, with one shelf and a flush capping on top.

    :-)

In fact the more I look at it I.m beginning to realise how it could take a few days.

Trying to say? I though it was pretty clear.

So you mean building a custom piece of furniture from a plan? £500 does seem too much for that.

    Whathaveisaidnow

in fact i should have put….

I am clueless. But I do have ten minutes free to write a concise post, this will address the salient points and not upset anyone unjustly.

    ….

What is the hourly rate a chippy would charge for building a bespoke piece of furniture?

I have been quoted £500 for a small L-Shaped reception desk, if this is deemed reasonable by the majority here, thank you for your time and the knowledge I have gained.

If anyone would like to quote on the job, I will provide drawings for you.

    Thank you so much.

um I think I know what you are trying to say…

I had no idea, not having anything built bespoke like that before, so some kindly folk have pointed out the going rate, and I thank them for that… i have been fortunate to have found someone who can do it cheaper than quoted, which was what the thread was asking for essentially.

So i have gained some knowledge as well which is great.

    Get this concoction down you.

2 lemons – squeeze one half, slice the rest up and put in a pan or pot

1 clove of gralic – finely chopped.

a good chunk of root ginger grated

add spring water and some sugar.

Bring to the boil and simmer for about 20 mins.

Pour into a big mug, add a desert spoon of honey, and a slug of whisky.

take a couple of high strength tablets with it, repeat three times a day.

    John Peel.

    Hear me out.
He is actually there, on film, as a member of the press when LHO makes his ‘patsy’ announcement.
    True fact.

Then, not 15 years later, Peel promotes a band called The Dead Kennedys.

‘Patsy’? Obviously an anagram, hence the Binners/Peel connection, which suspiciously he has always denied.

and one of his favourite bands ‘the wedding present’ have a song entitled ‘Kennedy’ and it’s about the ex-pres…

    plot thickens…
