going to the other end of the spectrum . . . the Alpkit headtorch is pretty good for £15, just your regular disposable batteries and a rear light too . . .

it chucks out a fair bit of light for the money, it lights up where you look, what more do you want), . . so worth a go for £15, if not, . . . handy for around the campsite and evening strolls.

The Marin and Penmachno are further, but at least they are fairly accessible from the M56/A55 route . .
so you could ride both . . ?

I’d leave our as early as possible like 5.30 – 6 in the morning and get back 6 pm ish be a good test of the relationship . . lol

where i decided, somewhat unwisely, to venture last night was sheer hell, unrideable 2/3rds down, but i thought may as well keep going, legs still buzzing today and covered in thorn scratches too . . arms too . .

I’ve got the Superstar wheels as well. You need to pick your axle adaptors and they’ll come fitted. Happy with them so far.

what is the weight of these do you know?

Flow or crest for general trail riding XC hardtail?

Bit of a click but far, FAR less than Hopes (I have both). I have 3 sets of wheels from them and all ok so far http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=40&products_id=496

You know where it says about the adaptors, do i just choose what i want to run with?

I.E. i have 9mm QR front and back, so do i just set it to that, or do they come qr as standard and you choose an adapter that you may have future use for?

    Or am i being thick?

28K later and i didn’t miss the pack one bit, . i drank noticeably less though, because drinking from a bottle is just more hassle . . .

the pump went in my cavenous shorts pocket, which sits back and side of leg so tht was perfect and not noticeable at all when rinding, the tool and anything heavy went in shorts, because having them in the jersey pockets can pull the front of the jersey up and make it uncomfy . .

back was hardly wet though, which with a pack on, i always get a drenched with sweat back.

    Felt faster

    I enjoyed it

so we’ve gone from something big and bulky on your head (but at least it’s vented, and light) to something big and bulky around your neck (which will sweat me like a bitch) . . .

Doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the seaost to me, it’s very strong, easy to adjust and clamps hard. Again not the lightest.

Just more of a comfort issue really, want a carbon post, not ridden my new saddle yet though, so a carbon bar is probably first port of call.

Have the aluminium 29ers not got rack mounts?

    yes they have . . fox fork too . . .[/url]

Love my reaction 29er, i’d prefer a 2 x 10 lighter set up and lighter wheels, also the seatpost saddle combo will need swapping out, the saddle may look light and racey, but it’s heavy and uncomfortable.

I stuck a 30mm shorter stem on it too, got the 19″ at a smidge under 6ft tall, and was a little too stretched out.

    It flies . . .

to my mind if you weren’t riding a 29er or at the very least 650b on that course you were doing yourseld a disadvantage . . .

they fly, i’ve got one , ride one, maybe peeps should try one, otherwise you’ll never know.
