if you spend more on a pair you tend to look after them better and not lose them.

pasta and chicken the night before. Then a cashew nut, sultana mix on the ride. Maybe one energy bar, and then one gel just in case.

Portland Bill is worth a trip, the old army barracks and gun placements is quite a sight. In weymouth the bit around the harbour area is the best bit with the best pubs/eating places.

You could take a day trip to Guernsey (best with a bike) or Jersey.

Further west and inland from Westbay is Bridport which is nice on saturday as they have a market, antiques/food etc.

The 700 is better, if still on offer it appears decent for the cash.

My nephew has a b-twin, he loves it.

The only thing your money won’t buy you is credibility, because the btwin brand is looked down upon as being a poor mans entry level brand into the world of cycling.

In reality all bikes at this price point are manufactured in Taiwan with parts made by shimano, just come with fancier brand names.

It is a well specced bike for the money and Manitou are a brand on the up again and were around at the start of mtb suspension, and it looks good.

More rings, means more weight – two rings is plenty.

Real Ale on tap : Bathams Bitter or Slaters Haka

Ale in a bottle : Goose Island IPA (Mainly for it’s sheer harsh hoppiness) or brewdog IPA

Lager in a bottle : Staropramen

    …and

In les Arc had a great day not coming off once, came down the last trail onto the tarmac about 300 yards from the chalet – road works, with those 2 meter intermittent plastic barriers, i was one side then ducked through a gap, handlebar and finger caught the edge of the barrier sending me into a sprawling heap in the middle of the road, grazed back badly bruised fingers, no more riding!

    more shameful

    I’ve had two…

steep little climb up to a canal going about 2 miles an hour, back tyre hit a root, felt like someone just shoved me – busted hand – 3 broken bones.

    and…

marquis drive cannock – rode 2 yards from back of car, into a ditch that separated the road from the trails, wheel got stuck flipped me head over heels, the bike flew in the air and the crank landed on and punched my achilles!

    both shameful
