Just to revive this thread a little bit. What makes and models do people recommend for sealer and actual paint?

Tool jealousy! Yes agree with the memory thing, original plan was just to draw round theagnetoc board in pencil as I currently have a fairly basic and/ or poor quality setup so wanted the flexibility to allow for different tools rather than making new fittings. Think a combo of the magnetic strips and ply with hooks is the way to go. Any more good pics of tool Walls out there?

Haha, yes fair point about the flush surface, magnet strips it is then

Not really that handy so would rather buy one so long as they aren’t stupid expensive

Does anyone know what the (real world) difference is between the xt’s and slx varieties apart from the pad retention system?

Thanks for the heads up on the sunline, good value, SOLD!

Really interesting thanks. So this boils back down to part of the original question, are short lightweight stems e.g. on one and superstar going to hold up to the test of DH use?

    wenanwhere

So zephyr more or less the same as the on-one, both look quite nice to be honest. Would be interested to know what testing goes in to stems in general, do they get tested to breaking point as such?

yep saw them but no 50mm in stock

Controltech FX Stem and pro frs second hand might be the best options? Any other suggestions

    wenanwhere

    which one?

    wenanwhere

Yes was after opinions on whether if would or not, the zenith says AM use whatever that means. Has anyone had a stem snap? Would being 50mm make it stronger than a longer stem?

    wenanwhere

245g for the funn, 124g for the SS Zenith AM Stem fair old difference

Was after something lightweight really, think the Truvativ stuff is perhaps a little on the portly side?

Fair point re dimensions, just thought I’d check in case anyone wanted to make the case for them. Think I might get some second hand mg 1’s then do the ti axel upgrade which hopefully won’t come in any more than 40-50squids

Think they are 400g + though? As you might have guessed I am a bit of a weight weenie!

    wenanwhere

Probably, ti nanos would work out probably twice the price though?

Just bought one of these for my newly ressurected vp free,

Said on xc racer that there will be a race at chopwell, excellent as its local to me. Would be interested to hear if there will be any trailbuilding to get involved with leading up to the event as just about to move a couple of miles away so would be happy to lend a hand.

Looks good at initial glance, is there/will there be an export function to garmins? Slow to load at the moment so can’t really have a proper look

Thanks for the info guys, really helpful, to be honest sounds like the natural stuff might be a no go particularly given the weather forecast :(

I’m after a used shimano rear brake if anyone has something cheap knocking about? Maybe even just a rear caliper would do the job? (sorry thread hijack)

I made a few to fundraise and sold to mates, £1.50 for an art folder from wilko and away you go, I just copied round the outline of a mucky nutz one then made it a bit longer with bit at the front as well, works a treat

Someone else said aztec sintered are the way to go, thats what I used and still have half a pad left on full inspection at each end today.

Back at work today feeling not too bad, not sure I’ll be doing that race in a hurry again though!

    Hello all,

Well I did it, as thebudge says 18hours 15 mins in total for Killer Kielder. Finished just before 1am.

Can’t say thanks enough to all your guys I spoke to on the day, really helped push me along.

If you think its worth a few quid for a brilliant charity, my just giving link is http://www.justgiving.com/killerkielderchallenge when you see the pics of me at the finish line you’ll get a sense of how hard it was!

Was expecting the ride to be one of the easiest bits but hardest ride I’ve ever done, respect to all the finishers. That finishers t-shirt will be a collectors item!

Sat down now having my 2nd beer in 6 months (first at 1am last night) the bbq is about to be fired up, good times…

Only showers on site are at kielder campsite but I was in the overflow camping last year and just went along and got one there anyway. This year I’ll be staying in a lovely chalet at the Calvert Trust with pre and post spa action :)

    Not long now…

‘1 torq gel every 20mins’ talking of the weather there will be serious wind kicking on that strategy! :)

Ah yes the ‘its just at the top of this hill’ ladies pain and misery were brought to many when they realised they had several miles still to go! Seriously though thanks for marshalling.
