I had a black lab when I was young, it ate a light bulb 😐 the vet had us feeding it bread for ages. Didn’t seem to have a negative effect. Im a cat person but if I was to have a dog it would be a collie 🙂

Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network settings. Then try sending one from herself to herself.

Last time I went by the channel tunnel they didn’t check passports on the way out, but getting back they were very thorough.

Orux maps works very well. You can download OS maps for a specific area very easily and then load .gpx files for route following. You can create routes on there as well although there are easier online tools if you want to do that. Its free as well.

This still seems to be going today btw. Most MTB clothing doesn’t seem to be sold directly by Amazon and so isn’t in the sale. You have to do a lot of digging.

Try disabling hardware acceleration, right click on the video > uncheck hardware acceleration.
Not sure if that is a temp fix or a permanent fix (assuming it works).

Make sure video card drivers are up to date as well.

Anyone who relies on GPS without taking a map or having sufficient orienteering skills should probably subscribe the the OFCOM GPS jamming mailing list especially if you ride near MOD training areas.

Hmmm so the Decathlon site is a bit weird. It appears that they only deliver from a store near you, or you can collect at the same store. The product I want is not available in my local store so I can’t order it, nor does there appear to be anyway to order a product in.

    Those ride tights look interesting.

Thanks for the comments. I’m not expecting too much for the price. I guess since I’m 6’1″ I should go for a large because of the length. Unfortunately I’m not able to try any since my local Decathlon doesn’t have any in stock.

What are your thoughts on the sizing out of interest, I’m tall and skinny so can’t decide on medium or large.

When I adjust the volume on anything that uses numbers as a metric for volume I can only adjust in increments that are multiples of 5 😐

Any standout bargains been spied? I after a pair of bib tights. Not all pairs seem to be in the sale though.

I don’t drive so I rely on trains. The peak district is ridiculously accessible by train from Sheffield or Manchester. The ticket guards are very bike friendly as well even helping me get my mud caked self and bike onto busy commuter trains when I have got my timings wrong.

When I did a brief spell back at my parents to get back on my feet (23) and was earning about the same I paid £200 a month which included everything and I also did pretty much all the chores except laundry.
I thought I got off very reasonably and felt a little guilty about how little I paid. It allowed me to clear my debts and overdraft and get a deposit to move into my own place fairly swiftley which was ultimately the goal.

Nice, I hope the weather holds out until Friday at least. I did a little pootle from Stockport through Marple and around Lyme Park and back yesterday. Was fantastic, my forearms got a bit burnt though. White hands from gloves and upper arms from T-Shirt, looks a bit silly in March really,

@FunkyDunc I hate the way it has no storage card support, cant be used as a mass storage device, and doesn’t support bluetooth file transfer. It had no tethering or hotspot support when I was using it although I gather this has come or is coming with an update.
I dislike WP7’s lack of customisability and although it looks slick (it does short demos well) I don’t actually like the way that menu’s are laid out. My GS2 is completely customised to the way I want. Admittedly it takes time to do that but thats what I like.
WP7’s app store is pitiful. iOS is light years ahead in terms of content and pricing and Android is not far behind. By comparison WP7 is terrible.

It’s a handset that I dislike selling because it often results in customers coming back later and expressing that they would have preferred to get an iPhone or Android device after seeing their friends devices, and I hate the way that many just turn off and don’t turn back on.

Perhaps I dislike the device and platform more than most but its because I had agreed to use one and was frustrated day in and day out when using it, knowing that I had access to much better devices.

I agree though that the screen is very nice, not the nicest I have seen but splendid nonetheless.
If you like it and are happy then fair play to you. There are lots of phones out there for different tastes, the Lumia 800 is not to mine.

I was given one by Nokia to use and promote and I hated it. I gave up after a month of forcing myself to use it and then went back to my Galaxy S2. Android or iOS are much better and more mature platforms that WP 7.5

Is watching iplayer not just watching the telly with a different name?

Yeah I suppose, for me its behaviorally different. Watching something on iPlayer means watching one program. Sitting in front of the tv usually means flicking backwards and forwards, or not turning off to do something else because I am already doing something. Even if deep down I know I don’t actually want to watch what I’m watching.

I have been without a tv for about 6 months now and I love it. I have iPlayer if I want to watch something, and I spend more time reading and listening to music as well as indulging other interests. With a tv my evenings would vanish as I sat watching stuff I didn’t really want to watch.

Couple of people mentioned Cowboy Bebop, don’t know why I didn’t mention it since I have just been watching through the series for the 5th or 6th time over the last couple of weeks. Ghost in the Shell of course is worth a shout as above if anime is a possibility.

Dont forget Stargate Universe 😉 A number of us have mentioned it and its easy to ignore because it’s more Stargate. But it is very good.

Christin Aguilera – Genie in a bottle.

Everytime I hear that song it takes me back to working in a papershop with my best mate during the summer holidays. Probably the best 6 weeks of my life.
Musically its rubbish, but it elicits an emotional response.

Could you go a little abstract and focus on something like pirate radio in London and its influence on modern electronic music, Garage, DnD, Grime and recently the part it played in leading the emergence of Dubstep which has subsequently become very popular and its styles that can be heard in everything now.

Perhaps John Carpenter then? Influential in modern music while also influencing electronic music in film?

I guess it has to be someone or something you are interested in and then you determine how influential it is, and the scale of influence is perhaps less important than being able to articulate what and why they were influential to those they were.

You could probably choose Boards of Canada if you had enough enthusiasm for them and write a good piece even if you don’t get to say “He invented the Moog! Enough said!” 😉

This was a piece on Radio 3 (I think) from a couple of years back on Daphne Oram.

Daphne Oram and Kraftwerk were the first that sprang to mind when I started reading your post. Both have already been mentioned as well.

*edit* BTW if Daphne Oram and her Oramics machine is of interest the Science Museum currently has an exhibition going. No idea if its any good though but might be interesting.

As has already been mentioned, just look for the blue bicycle symbol. I take bikes on trains all the time and never bother to book a slot. Just be polite and courteous and you will have no problems.

I was in the Scouts, loved it, never killed anyone though.
Someone from my year group was getting a lift into school with their Dad and they ended up running over and killing his best friend. Very sad story. 🙁 I think 3 or 4 kids got hit and killed on the same stretch of road that year and now it has some mental traffic calming measures.

On a lighter note. I did save someones life, literally. I was walking through Salford and a kid ran into the road without looking, I grabbed his hood without thinking and yanked him back. The van that would have hit him was only on the brakes after the point where he ran into the road.
Next thing I had his mother shouting at me to get my hands off her kid. The mind boggles.

Lol, I can assure you its a 20″ frame. Attached another photo taken from lower, might be that first photo making it seem so small.

Anyone here got much experience with an xl canyon nerve who is also around 6’5?

A post on this forum from last month has the Fury TT length at 604mm on a 20″. No idea if that is right or not. A Nerve XC 20″ has a 620mm TT and an XL 650mm.
Im 6’1″ and ride a large Nerve XC which works for me. You’re best off seeing if someone local has one that you can sit on I guess.

oooh the ltd silver run of Incunabula. Stick in a wallet and send it this way 😉

I couldn’t imagine selling my music collection. The little amount of money the albums would fetch seem to be worth nothing in the real world now, compared to the emotional attachment.
I sell a first edition pressing of Sixtoo – Duration and get £25. Pays for a curry and some beers. Just holding it brings memories flooding in of a mental night in deepest darkest london, a night bus, and winding up at a random house party as it wound down for the morning.

My last crash was a high speed lowside on flats and was sliding along the ground with my bike before I had even had a chance to move my feet.

I see flats as more of a low speed benefit, being able to dab a foot quickly without having to unclip seems more useful and frequent than the high speed stuff.

I have always found that cannabis can relax muscle and relieve tension which can as a result reduce pain. I have never found it effective as a pain killer. If that makes sense.
It can be taken in food, brownies and baked goods being the most common, but can be used in other foods. You just need to have the cannabis cooked in oil or alcohol to dissolve the THC.

I’ll keep an eye out as I’m around South Manchester. I get paranoid riding mine through some areas.
A scally sidled up to me at a traffic light a couple of weeks ago, looks at my bike and says “nice bike, if I see it anywhere without you on it I’m going to nick it” 🙁

Stargate Universe is actually very good. Much much better than the other Stargate series’.
The new Battlestar Galactica mini series and following series is very good as well.
    Firefly is great.
