I race 24 hour solo and use a six pack on my bars, very secure set up no wobble, I use the medium setting which equates to 900 lumens and will keep going for 10 hours. THe high setting is 1800 lumens and goes for just under two hours. Good spread of light which has fantasic depth and penitration.

I’ve been riding bikes for a long time and have been racing 24 hour solo and endurance events for the past 6 years or so, I’m 39 and our first little one is due in three weeks.

Take a look at the British Cycling website and search for ‘GO Race’ events.

    Thanks for the advice.

I deleted it from the start up folder in my other halfs profile which deleted it from mine also.

I then put the short back into my start up folder and its not appeared in my other halfs, so problem solved.

I had a similar dilemma and eventually went for an Osprey Momentum 34 back which I’ve found hard to fault since I’ve been using it. I get my laptop and everything I need for a day at work without any problems whatsoever

TBH I’m not bothered about being competitive I’m just looking for a good workout throughout the winter months.

I did wonder about just trying my normal SS gearing and will use that as a starting point. Just wondered what peoples expereince was

    Got skinny tyres sorted.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Just as an update.

I’ve ordered an Osprey Momentum 34 pack as recommended by buffalobill, this seem to tick alll the boxes. My intention is to fill it up with all my kit when it arrives. If it doesnt work I’ll send it back and look at the panniers option.

Liking the look of the Osprey Pack.

Im not a fan of panniers as Im not keen on having the weight associated with them upsetting the handling of the bike.

The bike I communte on also serves as my training road bike and I’m unlikely to do any touring so dont want to be taking a rack on and off all the time.

It’s only a 8 mile commute but I often get a longer training ride in on the way home, sounds like my worst fear have been realised…..panniers

Im doing solo this year so just wanted to gauge what people have previously done. Not really interested in what the bloke who won did just what comparative people did, gives me something to aim for.

Done 10 UTB solo for the past few years but have always stayed the week in a cabin with the family.

Was planning on soloing 10 @ Kirroughtree but wont have the family to look after me, not lking the sound of them camping arrangments. Are there any cheap alternatives closeby for a few nights

Anyone know when the results will be up? I did 8 laps solo
And enjoyed ever one, I rode the last two laps with next to no brakes. Biig thanks to the marshals especially as people have already pointed out the guy towards to end just after the bridge and short hill and the lads on the final
    Section.
Well done on the 12 laps

Fasthaggis your not wrong that was a long day, I finished my last lap at 7.45 ironically I thought conditions ony last two laps were the best as the two muddy, rooty decent’s had been taken out to be replaced by rocky Singletrack. Good day out though

Mayhem isn’t a Park Feme event so your free to come and go as you wish. There’s a solo camping area but you can camp where you want, my advice would be to get a spot as close to the course as you can.

I tend to try and aim for a finish in the top 25% of my category, generally try to beat my times from last time and other people who I’ve raced against before.

Do it for the challenge as opposed to winning, never seen the podium
