I had an issue with the same retailer denying my cashback on about 3 purchases via Quidco, then Quidco had the hump when I left negative feedback about the retailer.

As a ‘goodwill gesture’ Quidco decided to pay me out their own pocket when I was able to back up all my transaction details etc.

I switched my shoes at the wrong point of training for the Berlin marathon this year and developed knee pain.

After seeing a physio he said the cause was (a) switching shoes (b) over striding (c) my weak glutes.

When doing single leg squats it was apparent how my knees didn’t track properly, so had to squat and ensure my knees didn’t rotate inwards, I had resistance band exercises and doing bridges to build up the glutes.

I was reduced to a 5k limit at a very slow pace, then down to run a mile walk a minute still within the 5k limit. Although my knees have now improved, I can now gradually increase my mileage which is frustrating as I’ve lost all my speed and gained a bit of excess weight, so things like parkrun are 2-3 minutes slower than what I was knocking out last year.

As my training was so far behind the physio said I was better off not running the Berlin marathon.

Thanet MTB duathlon in January – http://www.thanetroadrunners.org.uk/events/mountain-bike-duathlon

Done it twice, the cross country section is also one of our running clubs winter league races, includes crossing water filled dykes.

I was there 2 weeks ago for the marathon – injured so didn’t run it. Trains/tubes are cheap and all day travelcard type ticket is about €7. Tickets have to be punched/validated by a machine on the platform entrance prior to travel. Saying that if you fly into Schönefeld and get a train from there the queues for the train tickets in the station are a nightmare, only about 6 ticket machines. If your lucky some kind sole going into the airport might give you their train ticket

Cycle lanes on pavements – seem to be everywhere, keep your wits about you

Food and drink prices are reasonable even round the main tourist traps

I’ve been before but did the usual Checkpoint Charlie/Brandenburg Gate, Victory column, the Topography of terror – about 5 mins from Checkpoint Charlie is interesting a lot to take in. My mate wanted to visit the Bauhaus Archive which we did but that wasn’t much interest to me

Was with Ovo on their suggested monthly cost, then was in credit by a large whack so started to drawn down on it before the end of the contract – and it paid interest as well, their renewal wasn’t competitive so gone to First Utility.

Also cashback via Quidco uswitch or whatever it is

I’ve lived in Orpington the majority of my life, also a short spell in Bromley North and Shortlands (the no mans land bit between Bromley and Beckenham).

The slow train services to Victoria / Blackfriars seem to stop at every station known to mankind in south London, Cannon St/ Charing X is quicker. Most trains are filling up by Beckenham Junction or Grove Park with the people on the platform banging on the windows telling people to move down the carriage.

I find shopping in Bromley a complete waste of time, no flagship stores any more, just a load of tat so would rather go to Bluewater. However I treat a journey there like a military operation in and out as quick as possible.

Plenty of countryside on the outskirts – I’m sure most people don’t even know it exists.

Nearby streets where I grew up used for numerous adverts, the most recent being the big lorry with a portacabin kitchen on the back for Burger King.

A local parkrun near me has a winter & summer route. The winter route was designed with the help of the council with at least 90% of it on tarmac paths, so no real wear and tear on the park. Runners are reminded not to walk across the football pitches on their way to the start or back to the carpark etc, you don’t have exclusive right of way blah blah.

Although the said parkrun does have a good turnout all year, other local ones have now started up to take the pressure off, but it is a nice flatish pb course.

Personally by starting with parkrun I then joined a running club, fitness improved significantly (bike is now hardly used), took up racing as well and made new friends through this.

Started with a sore throat and glands up a bit, running hot and cold at times and wasn’t really a proper cold but an underlying chesty/dry/tickly cough which was with me for exactly 3 weeks. I still had the odd coughing session for a few minutes which then went away as quickly as it arrived.

Factoring in the hamstring niggle I’ve had since the beginning of the year, weight I’ve put on from not being able to train I’m way off schedule where I should be.

However, this is the first ‘cold/cough’ I’ve had since last August

There’s a lad near me who also feels the need to drive his old M3 at about 50 in 2nd gear round the side streets. I had considered the bonnet drawing myself with permanent marker with the wording ‘I drive like a ….”

yes, I used to drive like that myself at times but knew when to call it a day, and also had a few instances of that could’ve been expensive and fatal if someone had pulled out form a side road/clipped that hedge, kerb etc

For running, not bang at the front, but about a few rows back or go by the start pens/signage – many people seem oblivious to these.

I’m normally within the top 20% of finishers and more often that not know a lot of regular faces at the races so know who I want to beat or pace myself off if possible.

Still in my ‘discounted’ 12 months of an 18 month contract, even if it did take 3 months to get the bill right. I have no need for a landline, don’t even have a phone to plug into the socket, so would like this pointless cost removed from my monthly bill.

The free upgrade to my broadband speed seems to have made no difference at all.

Its not the product or the makers of these things its the assholes who just chuck stuff away. Its really bad around where I stay TV’s,household goods and tyres are always getting dumped. However our council dump is a total joke when it comes to opening times.

We had our fortnightly rubbish collection this week, someone from the flats across the road (just to add I live in a flat myself) left all manner of stuff outside, the binmen took the household waste and left the TV, ironing board, bags of non househld waste, large childrens plastic toys, other plastic stuff, what looks like a vacuum cleaner and so on. About 4 days on this tat is still on the pavement, so whether they expect the council to relent and collect it is anyones guess.

and let’s not start about bags of dog sh1t left hanging on trees

At the top of the road where I grew up was a block of garages, there were some blackberry bushes and I/we decided to throw blackberries at the garage doors, I then decided to use the said blackberries to write the word sh*t on one of the doors. After one of the other kids in the road got told off by the owner, it didn’t take long for that telling off to find it’s way back to me.

A few years later I was bouncing a bit stone on a tennis racket and gave it a bit whoomp for the big stone to land on a parked cars windscreen and crack it, I think it was a Fiat Uno or Seat Ibiza. Got away with that one….

Snapped the head off a pivot bolt on my SC Blur – probably because it didn’t need tightening

Cut a steerer tube down a touch too much and at a wonky angle

Recently purchase some new Hope brakes and made a right mess shortening the hoses, taken to LBS and admit to my tinkering and say I’ll be back next week to collect.

My employer uses a 3rd party for this, there is also some pointless online assessment thing – and like most online ‘training courses’ we have at work, we print the answers off and pass them round.

and normally each year they email you claiming they don’t have a copy of your latest MOT/insurance certificate etc – even though you’ve submitted it with an acknowledgement.

I had a SC Blur Classic and a Heckler, I used to ride the Blur a lot more but found the Heckler too big a bike, then got rid of them both, well the Blur complete, the Heckler was stripped down with the majority now on my Yeti ASR 5 which is somewhere in the middle of the two and does what I want.

    cartoons on the ipad?

our 3.5 yr old starting lumping everything, traced it back to watching Donald Duck. It’s basically 10 mins of non stop punching, hitting on the head, kicking etc.

    Posted 6 minutes ago # Report-Post

One of my friends eldest son started punching/kicking his younger brother, which they traced back to Ben 10, likewise they stopped him watching it. He now does kickboxing with his dad but still seems to think his brother/mum/dad should test out his training moves…

I’ve had about 3 pairs of Cheaneys – even found them in TK Maxx in the ‘gold label’ section.

In the past year I’m sure the price of shoes, even in the sales has shot up, Jones the Bootmakers were discounting Cheaney’s by about £25 in the winter sale

My large Heckler felt like riding a farm gate, I think if I’d had the 150 Revelations dropped to 130 (which are now on my Yeti) the bike would be been what I was after.

Its funny (not ha-ha) how many dead badgers I see out my way, sprawled almost elegantly alongside roadways.

    They always look otherwise undamaged.

    Funny that.

I was out for a ride a few years back and a tree had fallen across this lane and there was a dead badger at the side of the road, as I was manouvering my bike over the fallen tree a guy on a motorbike the opposite side was wondering how to get round/over (not really possible) then pointed to the badger and asked if it was dead – I was so tempted to reply no it’s just resting

I got some Gore Windstopper gloves about a month ago, some rides they feel too warm, other times within 2 miles I’ve stopped and put glove liners on underneath as the tips of my fingers were so cold.

I also recommended them to a friend saying they were great and she’s had to resort to liners as well.

Garden sprayer. But I’ve just seated the last three road and cross tyres with cheap 12oz CO2 cartridges. Doesn’t need a whole cartridge either.

CO2 will freeze the sealant – it was just a lump spread across the inside of the tyre

When my mother worked in a supermarket there was an old fella had a heart attack in the store so they cordoned off the area while the first aiders tried to help him until the ambulance arrived, needless to say some customers voiced their concerns that this was a major inconvenience to their shopping.

My response to such people would probably get me on a disciplinary or the sack.

Was good a few years back going to clubs but once you get older and looking at the ridiculous cost of it all for one night can’t be bothered.

Will be up early to try and get a double parkrun in at 9am & 10am.

People have already started letting off fireworks round here – fantastic
