Sorry for the tardy response, no we forgot to get the air sticker this year
This hotel was about 5 mins off the motorway on the edge of an industrial estate. Not the most glamorous of places but it served a purpose for one night

We stopped here in Dijon a fortnight ago, very basic but it served a purpose as an overnight to break the journey up, had secure card park as well. comfortable bed, small bathroom which was like a self contained unit.
Had dinner in the hotel next door, and they did a basic breakfast in the hotel for about €6 per person, cereals/toast/pastries & self serve drinks

I replaced the stock rattly Race Face lever with a Wolf Tooth light action one, cable still clamps on the lever as before.

When the guy got out the car and we looked at the bumper, I said they were minor marks – some rubbed off with a finger, I suggested I could apply some t-cut later as there was nothing more than a small paint transfer mark, so yes they agreed.

This afternoon when I was looking at the bumper again with the woman, and explained I had t-cut the marks off, which she acknowledged. I stated I’d taken before and after pictures, which show the difference, so why are insurance details required?

I understand she wants to cover herself with a company vehicle, as it’s her responsibility.

Working from home hasn’t been great for my back or neck, a proper office chair is on my list of things to buy.
It was over new year I had a crick in my neck like you’d get from sleeping awkward, that went away but about a fortnight later I had a dull pain in my right arm by my tricep and then a slight numbness along the outside of my little finger.

I saw the osteopath who clicked my back and neck out in the usual places where they are tight, but now it seems my radial nerve is pinching somewhere and my thumb and forefinger with a tingle on the same hand.

My arm and neck can ache for the first few miles of a ride, but then it stops. Last weekend I had 2 uplift days, no real problem or aches all day until we finished then it all started again. Ibuprofen doesn’t really do much at all.
I will speak with my sports massage person as he also does dry needling to see if that helps.
I was going to try the doctors as it’s nearly 3 months since this started and it’s getting annoying now.

I had a similar thing with Nationwide, there was some confusion about the property I now own regarding freehold / leasehold so they stopped the funds at the 11th hour. I would add I had the most useless trainee solicitor in the world, who was hardly on the ball for the 9 months it took her to coordinate a very simple transaction.

In order to stop the whole thing falling through (I had to move regardless to get away from my neighbours for various reasons), I delayed moving out for half a day a bit of grace from my buyer, put all my stuff in storage and moved back to my mothers for a fortnight until this simple query was resolved, with my mortgage broker earning his fee by badgering them daily.

The other thing Nationwide noted to my mortgage broker but somehow forgot to tell me at the last minute, was that they had reviewed the surveyors report again and adjusted the value of the property due to ‘damp, and remedial works required’, although this did not affect the initial mortgage.

Thanks, I have clear lenses for night riding, and polarized for summer so in reality the yellow lenses are worn the most.

The first time I was in Morzine about 10+ years ago I did a long XC route starting from Les Nauchets lift over in Les Gets. Bit of a climb to start, but heads over to La Rosta, I did it on a 110mm xc bike, and two of the guys I was with were on hardtails, from what I recall wasn’t a bad route or overly challenging for my first alpine trip.

Also from Les Lindaretes you can comedown the road to the lake, and back into Morzine again.

ODB readers are also handy if you may need to clear any intermittent warning lights on the dash before an inspection at a well known company who buy any car.

In my case I didn’t need it when my Golf went to find a new home.

Five numbers on a Wednesday lottery draw in around 1998 netted me circa £1,400, frittered it all away very quickly.

At my previous address I was with Scottish Power, my new place was an ex-rental with pre-payment meters. I inform Scottish Power who use a company called Lowri Beck to install new smart meters, after 5 cancelled appointments they finally get installed, all the time costing me a fortune on pre-payment top ups.

Scottish Power then charge my gas on a different tariff. I provide readings and photos of the new meter with the installation sticker, serial number etc. This is completely ignored and they deny a new gas meter was ever fitted. I take this up with the ombudsman, relay this saga over the phone and he gets it resolved in a day, my bill is corrected, difference reimbursed and a £50 apology made.

I transfer to someone else who then became Shell Energy, even with the supplied data on which my tariff was based and subsequent readings they said I’m paying too much so drop my DD a few quid. At the end of my contract I then owe them something like £150 to make up the shortfall. When I leave a negative google review they reply within minutes saying I should give regular readings and they can sort out a payment plan.

It also seems the smart meters Scottish Power supplied aren’t compatible with other suppliers.

Renault Clio 16v…great when it worked

Within about a month of purchasing it the cambelt went – or some random piece of debris was caught up in the cambelt. The dealer wasn’t interested initially, via the warranty company I went elsewhere for a stripdown to find the fault and a subsequent independent RAC inspection. Finally the dealer took responsibility after the mention of legals and trading standards, and took the car in. Between the two garages they both accused each other of breaking or losing parts, so I was still out of pocket and had the gearbox stripped down and rebuilt as they claimed the first garage has broken or dropped a part into the gearbox. The first garage also decided to say I owed them a storage fee as my car was taking up space and they subsequently didn’t get any work.

Not long after the rad was replaced under warranty.

Steering column started to get a lot of play in it once I started driving to work each day, that was replaced

The revs would cut out sporadically, the first time on roadworks coming back home on the A3, after a few trips to the Renault dealer it was found to be the throttle body sensor.

I had to disconnect the battery each night as something was draining it, fault was never found. I cursed myself on this as one time I was going to a friends for dinner and phoned to say I’d broken down so would be an hour late, I could hear his wife saying the food was nearly cooked so had the hump, lo and behold I was at the front door, ha bloody ha what a joker I am. Needless to say on my way home that night the battery died on a petrol station forecourt around 1am and 2 miles from home. New battery purchased the next day. Fault still persisted.

Window regulators replaced about twice on both sides

The final straw was the sills needed to be welded to get it through the MOT.

At times I did hope it would be stolen and never seen again, but I’m sure it would probably have broken down within a few miles.

You could try watches.co.uk , I ended up selling my Submariner back to them a few years later at a healthy profit.

Watchfinder wanted my watch sent to their workshop to be checked over before they’d even make me offer. I didn’t have time for that as I needed the money ASAP for another purchase.

    I had a Mk 3 2.0 16v GTI, Mk 4 1.8T GTi & Mk 5 GT.
I’d say the Mk4 was the most unreliable as the vacuum hoses seemed to always need replacing as they split with age, saying that all of Golf’s got to the point when I’d had enough repair bills and wanted shot of them to be someone else problem, and looking at the MOT history online thereafter that was the case.

My current Audi A3 2.0 quattro is a far better drive than any of my previous Golfs but still the same VAG reliability – will the coil packs play up today, let’s wait and see….

When I was in-between jobs a few years back I worked for my mates building company, mostly as a driver picking up and dropping off materials. Even though he had accounts with most of the major BM’s, a few times when arriving with my shopping list I was palmed off with the more expensive materials as I was very obviously ‘green’.
That yard then had an abrupt phonecall from my boss saying they were taking the urine and to credit the difference back to the account.

I’ve had lower back ache since around October 2019, sports massages and the osteopath improve it for a few days. Working from home at the dining room table hasn’t helped either.

Trawling YouTube for various stretches and physio advice I found this last Wednesday and its worked a treat – the stretch around the 3 min mark, https://youtu.be/UGSiqbggoY0
I’d say its stetched my lower back /glutes / hamstring, my glutes and hamstrings do get tight from running. I feel like I’ve got a new lease of life and I don’t start the day getting out of bed with the words ‘My ****ing back’

I had an inguinal done 10 years ago, I only really noticed it as I had a cough and was aware of the pain in my groin. It was 3 months from seeing the doctor to the op, mine was in the hip flexor area.
I was initially told I’d have keyhole and be signed off for a fortnight. When I woke after the op they said I was now signed off for 3 weeks, I phoned my manager the next day who wasn’t too happy (we are only a team of 2). After 2 weeks I was still in a bit of pain and couldn’t be travelling to work etc so the doctor extended my certificate another week. My manager went mad with me being off a month. We had a nice warm April in 2010 so spent my recovery time in the garden, going back to work with a light tan didn’t go down well.

It took at least 6 months to get my fitness back, and even 10 years on the ‘hernia area’ does feel a bit achy now and again

I’ve not had a cold since March, I reckon normally have 3 colds a year. My manager after many years, actually accepted it was better to work from home if you had a cold etc rather than come to the office.

I only used to work in London two or three days a week, and for many years the first thing I do is wash my hands when arriving in the office or getting home. When you watch people and their disgusting habits on the train its awful.

I’ve no interest in watching these sports on the screen down the pub whilst all the armchair pundits shout their advice from the bar. My mates say but surely you’d watch the World Cup, er no it’s the same thing, means nothing to me at all, couldn’t care less.

I’ve been asked if I’d like to come to watch a local team play as they did well in the FA Cup play offs or something a few years ago, I passed on that offer.

As I’ve seen others mention, maybe it stems from school, one of the sports teachers was horrid bullying man, if you weren’t any good at football/rugby/athletics etc then he made a point of make sure you knew it. I remember the lads he didn’t like were put on the worse condition trampolines when we did that a few times.
Ironically his son who was a pupil at the school, ended up burning down the pavilion at the bottom of the school field where a lot of the equipment was stored

I’ve got a set of wheels on there at the moment as an auction which finish over weekend, this also gives me time to find a suitable shipping agent.

Some guy with a feedback score of 1 messages me yesterday asking for a buy it now figure, I reply it’s auction only and not shipping till Monday, he then replies back within seconds ‘O dear your loss cant bid need yesterday for work’.

I’ve had enough time wasted over the past 6 weeks or so with purchases from Business users, at times I wonder why I bother

I ordered some cycling related stuff off eBay which turns out my neighbour had taken in, the postman never put a card through the door to state this, so thinking it had vanished in the post I emailed the seller who said not a problem I’ll send a replacement which duly arrived, and left feedback saying great service as a replacement items was sent.

A few days later I took in a package for the said neighbour and dropped it off when she was home, for her to say oh you live next door (I’d been here a year by then) and we had spoken a few times, she then said I’ve got a parcel for you which was the original item.

I contacted the seller to say I’d return the original item to him and received a flippant comment of ‘maybe change your feedback as well’ this got my back up, so gave the item away.
He never heard anything more on it

You may recall last year that a traveller – Henry Vincent was caught burgling a house in SE London with an accomplice. He threatened the owner of the house with a screwdriver, who in turn picked up a kitchen knife and Mr Vincent lost that argument with his life. It was ruled the pensioner had lawfully killed the burglar.
The pensioner was then rehomed somewhere else in the country, probably under a new identity due to him being a marked man

The comments on local news websites and facebook pages summed up the general feeling of if he hadn’t broken into someones house then wouldn’t be dead so no sympathy whatsoever. Of course there were comments from his ‘family and friends’ saying he’d make a wrong decision, needed money to feed his family etc, which got shot down immediately.

The Vincent family were career criminals https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_family

Strava rolled out something a few years ago at the beginning of the year maybe 2015 or 2016. Came home and uploaded my new years day park parkrun to find I was ranked X, then as every other person uploaded their runs you see yourself drop down the leaderboard then forget all about it.
It was a novelty for one day

£8.50 so pay a tenner. He works on his own in a small parade of shops, he says that the turnover he has is enough but no need for a second person.

There’s a lot of Turkish barbers opened up on the high street, one seems to be favoured by local celebs and footballers, his instagram videos all look very dramatic with over the shoulder and head massages.

I had one done 10 years ago on NHS, was told it would be keyhole and ended up as open surgery and signed off for 3 weeks which I extended to 4 weeks, my manager went spare with me off a month. We also a lovely April so coming back to work with a slight tan didn’t go down well for someone signed off sick.

It took ages to get my fitness back up, then I went through a falling off the bike phase for about 4 months which put me back even further.

Even now the general area still aches now and again but think that may be due to general poor flexibility from running – hip flexors /hamstrings / glutes etc.

Got rid of my Mk 5 Golf GT, I listed the small crack on the rear bumper so they couldn’t knock me down on that, I also had an inlet manifold fault which kept throwing the engine management light up at the most awkward time (like when I tried to px it a few weeks before). I plugged my ODB reader in to make sure all codes were clear beforehand.

The guy did a walk round the car, claimed the wheels would need sprucing up in the ‘workshop’ so adjusted the cost down and the bumper damage was noted so accepted that. Luckliy the dash didn’t light up like a Christmas tree. Overall, I got knocked down about £100 from the online quote and paid extra to have the money in my account within 2 hours. I tracked my car down on Autotrader a few weeks at a smaller dealer and it was in the same state I sold it. And that Golf is now someone elses problem as the latest MOT history shows…

Reading all these comments seems to be the same for me:

Tight hamstrings / weak glutes / weak hip flexors
If I run the day before I’m aching when I get out of bed. Although I should stretch a lot more after running than I do.
Lying on the sofa watching TV doesn’t do me any favours either

My mattress is circa 5 years old and always turned, although I’m sure the pillows should be replaced
