never ever heard about the within 30minutes thingy. If they dont wanna go then they wunna go simple as that. I would get him on the lead and go for a little walk to get that No2 moving. Most of all dont stress cos the dog will get upset also. D

Remove the 2 screws on the front of the switch and have look at how many cables are in there. Only one and all the lights are linked together, so they will need rewiring. Educated guess will be that only one switch wire has been taken from the switch.

0.3mm seems a bit thin to me. if its 10ft x 15ft as opposed to metres then its not a great deal of shed for the money. The sheets can be bought seperately, you can also buy them preinsulated, these are super strong and no condensation, but they are expensive. I would scan ebay for some sheeting.

    +1 for ‘theotherjamie’.
chances are that your cable back to the consumer unit will be 6mm judging by your 30amp fuse. get a recommended sparky to sort you out.

@ trail rat – that cable in the pic looks like 2.5mm to me

I would suggest you got problems with air flow, it needs a good flow of air/oxygen to get it going. Is it possible to have a look up the chimuck, maybe use a torch and mirror. I use newspaper scrunched up then tied in a loose knot, then kindling, bust up pallets about as thick as your finger are the best. Then as said before some semi sized logs on top. Has this logbuner got a lid that can be taken off, can you inspect that the whole fire chamber has been vacuumed out. You must get a carbon monoxide alarm as said b4 if you intend to slow burn.
How long have your logs been seasoning? depending on hard/soft wood it really needs 12 months to dry sometimes longer.

slow burn is ok, but when the fire isnt running at high temperature the fumes are not burned completely. These have to go somewhere – they end up lining your chimney. So its really important to clean your chimney well and often. Its easier when its cold, but open up the air inlets when the fire is lit and let it roar away this cleans the chamber and helps clean the flue. Do not burn unseasoned or wet logs. If you hear a tinkling sound this can often be the steel flue expanding. If it has been swept then there will be a little loose tar making its way back down the chimney but not a great deal.

Every post on here is most helpful, heres my thoughts

Do you wanna house to move straight into without any renovations or do wanna wreck to do up, this of course will be much cheaper. You will also need some vision of what it could look like, and you will need a ruck of mates to put your dreams together. At least if it is a wreck then you can put your own style into your home.

Be careful, i think you should only get a layback if its the last resort. knee position over the pedal is important. I had a layback saddle on one of my frames because the frame was on the small side, mine worked for me. Have you thought about extending the stem?

Shropshire is a great place to start……..
    Shrewsbury – birthplace of darwin
Much Wenlock – birthplace of modern olympic games
Ironbridge – birthplace of industrial revolution
then theres always Ludlow, Church Stretton and surrounding areas with great scenery and pretty good places to ride yer bike.

V’s do not work at all in the snow. They are also very sketchy in poor conditions. Amongst my mates i was the first to go disc, i was the only one riding safely all winter, It wasnt long before all my mates had better discs than me.

a good quality steel HT. steel flexes more than ally giving the feeling that it is full susser. Cotic do good steel frames.

also on the trails you described you will enjoy it more on a HT, more responsive, snappy.

CAR. The chances of having serious injuries or worse from motorbikes is very high compared to a car esp. in winter. A bonus is that you can always bung yer mtb in the car and hit the trail centres. Go back to motorbikes when you have more money and use it in the summer.

my theory – Did you look at this property very recently? this year it has been very warm hence the ground/earth has warmed up considerably. At this point in time the air around us at times can be cool, much cooler than the ground upon which your stone sits. So the cool air falls on the stone and because this is warmer than the air itself it condensates.

To prove my point over next few weeks during autumn we will get some days when its frosty or v cold. If you have an outside tap wash your hands under the water – on days like this it will feel like the water has been thro a heater.

sometimes these sort of jobs are a process of elimination, swapping the less costly items first until the fault is cured. cannot expect him to remove the parts after he has found the problem. I think the garage guy has done a fair job at a fair price.
Pay up & give him a tip.

I think the amber coloured sap is actually sap, seen this many times in lofts. If you tap the timbers with the woodworm like holes, take notice if any powder/dust falls out. If it does then the woodworm is probably live and it will need treating with a spray. Timbers can suffer from worm but can still be structurally sound so after a spray they can be saved and timbers neednt be replaced. Wasps from my experience dont damage such large timbers, they only scrape the surface to make paper to make nests.

A good bike shop will allow you a test bike for the day for a deposit and at this time of year they may even sell you the demo model. They will feel disgruntled if you dont buy a bike from them and then you take a bike from another source for them to fix. Also you can get handlebars with brake levers on the drops and on the uppers so you can ride with piece of mind that you can grab the levers in two riding positions. I dont particularly like dropped bars but only use them when out on the open road and in relative safety. D

I was always under the impression that tandem is faster. My pal Dave used to race tandems back in the 60’s & 70’s. He said without doubt it is much faster, he said that descending at 50 – 60mph on tandem is quite possible. It helps if each rider is sort of equal then each rider can carry his own weight.

for splitting logs get a splitting axe or maul. These have a wide wedge shape to give extra weight when driven into the log, also unlike the slimmer version which is used for tree felling they do not get stuck in knotty logs.

they can be very expensive to run esp if there aint no insulation in the walls and ceilings. You also have to predict the waether 2moz all the time. They charge up overnight releasing a great deal of heat at 8am in the morn just when you leave for work. When you get back home it aint so warm but you have no opportunity to turn them on until 12 or 1am. Some have an override facility which gives a blast of warm air whenever needed. I know a guy who fiited them to his new build 5years ago, he put loads of insulation in the walls and ceilings and hes says that only half of the heaters are turned on.

use tyvek or equiv. when used with insulation. Use felt if no insulation is used.

if logs are very damp then it will tranfer onto the brickwork, try and space it out from the wall as mayc. suggests

Over 10years ago, the last time cannot remember exactly. But nearly every time involved large amounts of chunder. One time i went back to a pals house after a dozen or so pints then we cracked open the vintage port…….i made a spendid map of india, africa and some extra countries by spewing it all up including luminous bile onto his beautiful red carpet. The profesional carpet cleaner failed miserably to even get the shade of pink any nearer to red. Stopped drinking so much cos it made me soooo poorly and it doesnt go down to good when you piss your mates spare bed.

Make sure the new hob has the same loading as the old one. It will state on the unit something in the region of 5kw. Very often they are awkward to connect and make sure your connections are tight, lots of current has to flow thro these, you dont want these getting hot.
