Yeah chuck them in my direction and get yourself some new tread. Positively lethal those HRollers. I’ll even waive the environmental disposal fee that car tyre companies like to charge you!

Take the one you feel most comfortable with. I went out with TA last year and there was one chap in one of the other TA groups on a 29er hardtail so you will be fine on either.

    vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
Fill the bottle, add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and shake it, then add 1 tablespoon baking powder then shake it. Now drain and rinse thoroughly.
Alternatively, fill with water add baking soda and leave overnight. Then add vinegar in the morning. It does foam up though so be careful.

Jeffus – It does look like you have a handlebar basket with some flowers in it in that pic 😉
    Seriously though – nice bike.

Haven’t figured out quite how to explain it but I know if I went out for a hilly run and timed it as fast as I could and then lost 2kg and then went for another hilly run with a 2L (2kg) bottle of coke strapped to my back (theoretically, Ignore the fact this would be uncomfortable etc), I know it would be much slower and more knackering. I apply the same principles to my bike. The lighter weight I have to lug around it feels much more beneficial than loosing the same amount of weight from my body. There must be an explanation but I haven’t thought of it yet.

I once calculated how much it cost me to go windsurfing….£50 a pop

……. you should try jetskiing. Sorting out my bike is positively bargainous.

Its out to tender so may well be cognation but standard fiancial instructions and rule probably mean it has to go to open tender. Probably ensures best value is achieved as well.

its about 24 miles. Took me about 3.5 hours yesterday to do the full W2 with about 15minute break included in that time. There is a new temporary diversion on whites descent and climb at the moment which is a bit pants but a necessary given the work going on. Skyline is a long ride but a lot of fire road as said before. The W2 is more exciting.
Or you could head to Brechfa……….. similar to the W2 in length.

ok. I’ll try bleed 1st and see how they ride. Then lesson 2 is to do a complete dry refill. Then I’ll be pro and brake bleeds hopefully 😀
    I like learning new skills.

    Cheers for the advice people.

    @Herman
    – it’s been stored the right way up / no punctures etc.
Seems that the consensus is bleed but don’t drain (apart from Dales who I think is saying drain and refill?). I’ll get myself a bleed kit and give it a try, see if it fixes it.
    Cheers

I know Ben well. He is a legend. Top bloke & top rider. Skids are definately off his agenda. Not sure who the hell the dude in front is though?? His braking seems a bit all or nothing. Might as well have the rear brake wired up to a switch.
I’m sure Ben will have had a word with him as he takes trail preservation and the image of bikers in the area seriously and responsibly.

I went yesterday. The climb up on whites is ridiculous. My tyres were so clogged up with mud the wheels wouldnt move and the bike weighed a ton. It was so steep and slippy that I couldn’t walk either. I had to carry my heavy mud laden bike up a steep slippery / unwalkable slope. It took me ages and I was seriously hacked. If I’d have known I’d have stayed on the wall.
Anybody else have any serious beef with the new whites climb? I was about to throw my bike in the hedge at one point!

Is it likely to be the rear shock? If one locks out and reduces pedal losses better than the other you will be loosing a lot of uphill pedal energy into the shock? All other things being equal, I would look at this? Try riding uphill with the shock wide open (extreme example) and then locked out with pro-pedal or equivalent. Noticeably different in terms of energy efficiency. Just a thought.

Will the afan one just follow the W2 or is this some different route they have planned??

    I’ve tried email. No response.
If he comes good with the money or goods then fine but in my book to take the money and run is theft? I’m really hoping the goods turn up then I can eat my words and he will prove me wrong.

Looking back it was a bit naive but that doesn’t make it right. I didn’t know his background and was genuinely trying to help a fellow out.

Anybody know where you can buy Leffe Ruby from on a similar topic. That stuff is bloody beautiful but I can’t find it anywhere! Trip to France required me thinks.

Thanks. Mines just like that except I don’t have a velcro strap for the battery so currently no way to attach the battery to the stem / frame. Also, I’m running a 50mm stem so could be a challenge to get under there?

I seem to have found it massive. Usually small but wear XS in royal and its still baggy.

OK thanks. Unfortunately I don’t like near portishead / Nailsea but more north of the city centre.
I might look up the MBC or cheesy riders. Are they open (and friendly) to new members and how much does it cost to join?
Might have to give that a go as I don’t fancy it on my own for my 1st attempt at night riding.

Does anybody know if there is an open group type thing for riders to turn up and ride at AC/LW at night?
I wouldn’t mind giving a night ride a go but have nobody to ride with and reading this post is putting me off. If there was an organised meet time / place for people to turn up then I would give it a go.

Also, what are they like for fit? Height wise I fall exactly between sizes! Don’t know whether to upsize or downsize?
