Look up ‘Taxi David’ in Samoens. I seem to remember someone mentioning that he does trips back over to Les Gets/Morzine from Samoens for people + bikes. I’m sure he’d do both ways if you got in touch.
Mountain Spirit in Samoens also do an uplift from Samoens to the top of the Col de Joux Plan, and so you could ride back to Morzine from there. Only sorts one direction though…

I went for a nosey up to the gondola and around the pits area today. As soon as I opened the car door a large swarm of midges flooded in. Be prepared! It also chucked it down the whole time I was there!

What’s HB ridge like in the wet? I was planning on heading up there this weekend, but the forecast doesn’t look too pleasant. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it….

One just down the road from me. All the books were nicked a few weeks ago, but it was re-stocked in 48hrs.

@jambalaya & John thanks for the info. I’m staying just outside Verchaix and was planning on getting a lift around to Flaine and then getting the gondola up from there. Just need to persuade my girlfriend to drive me there! Would have liked to link it into a big loop but the closed lifts don’t really allow me to do that without a lot of climbing.

I don’t suppose anyone has ever dropped into the Giffre Valley from the Tour du Plateau de Loex route from Les Gets. From the IGN maps it looks like there are a few trails that route south into the valley but no idea if they’d be ridable.

The top lift in Samoens, the Chariande Express, isn’t running this year as they are building new ski pistes. There is a plan on here which shows where isn’t accessible this summer.

I’m heading out there myself in a few weeks and was planning on doing the ride from Les Grande Platières at the top of Flaine down to Sixt via the Refuge Des Sales. Has anyone every done that ride or have any knowledge of it?

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but I’m heading out to Samoens in August for a week, and I’ve seen some plans online that show quite a few trails are closed from the top of the Samoens 1600 lift and above this summer? Anyone have any idea what extent is closed and whether the Chariande Express lift is running this summer for bikes?

I was planning on trying a loop from Samoens using the lifts over to Flaine and then from the top of the Grandes Platieres down into Sixt. Anyone done a similar route at all?
    Cheers

I’m planning on heading up to Feshie next weekend and so might venture up that way to have a look. I’ll try and remember to report back here once I’ve been.

From what I can see on Geograph the path was pretty overgrown in 2010! It may not be there any more now!

Thanks for the update. I hadn’t seen that the Cairngorm Loop kicked off this weekend. I’ll try and keep and look out for updates on conditions then, but I may just attempt the route through Glen Tilt again as I know the score there.

Hijacking the thread slightly, but I’m looking for the same thing but in the Edinburgh or Tweed valley kind of area? I usually tend to be a medium but best to have a try of these things before to make sure.

Thanks, I’ve already been onto Soul Cycles to get them to keep an eye open, and its listed on several stolen bike register places. Findthatbike is also getting refreshed every 15 mins!
