I think you are probably objecting more to the fact it’s happening against your will, rather than the principle of the event itself. It must be heartbreaking to have no control over what happens to your child, so you really have my sympathy. In this instance though, there really isn’t any harm in it. You state yourself that your ex isn’t interested in religion, so she won’t have any views to push onto your child, therefore your child will make its own mind up, and probably won’t even be aware for many, many years that the ceremony took place!

Take a deep breath, let them get on with it. You can’t influence what happens, so at least save yourself from getting an ulcer over it.

    Good luck :-)

Bob Dylan – Lay Lady Lay.

Mucky memories, still makes me smile whenever I hear it, I occasionally bump into the woman in question and it pops into my head. It’s like her theme music.

We had the Magnet cover of this for our wedding thingy, it was ace :-)

Not Europe, but Morocco is supposed to be good for this kind of thing.

I don’t understand why you boys have trouble convincing your WAGs that you need new bike stuff. Surely you just agree that whatever you spend on a bike, she can have to spend on clothes/cars/makeup/gigolos?

That bike is tiny, probably for someone 5 foot 4/5 ish?

There’s usually something to be found on Bike Radar. What sort of thing are you looking for?

Be warned – the coastal stretch between St Ives and St Just (via Zennor) has some big climbs!

Essentially if you are a higher rate taxpayer then a company car costs double what it would if you were paying basic rate.

If you haven’t been given much information yet, you should opt for the cash allowance first when you start, then it’ll be easy to go onto the company car option after a few weeks once you have made your mind up.

A bit of advice if you have never had a company car:

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL THE TAX OFFICE THAT YOU HAVE A COMPANY CAR – as soon as you get it. Same goes for fuel cards.

Don’t for one minute think you can get away with not telling them, becuase next time they receive your P11D it’ll be listed on there, and you do not want to end up paying back extra income tax the following year. Double income tax on a K code is proper pants.

Depending on what tax bracket you are in, £3.5k won’t go very far.

If you’re doing a lot of miles then it may be worth going the company car route, as you don’t have to cover the depreciation on your motor.

What’s the fuel situation? Will you get your commuting miles paid (less tax)?

What antibiotics are you on? IIRC there’s pretty much only one type that you can’t drink on – the rest is all just nonsense.

Another vote for a 52cm. I’m 5ft 8 and I need a 54cm. Depends on the manufacturer though! What is it you’re watching?

I like canine captures. It’s hard not to be cheesy in this situation. I’d go for something like Barks and Bokeh or some such pretentious nonsense, but a lot of the paying public wouldn’t know what it’s about.

I shoot dogs is the best one though.

I cycled Cardiff to Bristol for a bit. Couldn’t manage it every day but did it 2-4 times a week. That took 2-2.5 hours each way

    Blimey!!!!

I had this problem recently. Weirdly, they all came back the next day. Someone in my office suggested it was because my inbox was full (can’t understand that though).

You need to speak to your HR representative urgently. Under normal circumstances most people would talk to their boss, but understandably this isn’t an option for you – don’t forget though that your boss is still human and would probably be mortified if they knew you were feeling like this.

You have nothing to lose by speaking to someone else – they can’t get rid of you for making mistakes. Just make sure your nose is squeaky clean when it comes to things like internet/email usage etc – don’t give them an opportunity for using it as an opportunity for sacking you for “gross misconduct” (i.e. an excuse).

We had our own volcano cave, here:

Best holiday I ever had (and I’ve had some pretty good ones!). The view from our terrace was immense; we didn’t want to leave. After a week or so the owner came down and took us out for the day to make sure we saw some of the island!

Boiler Insurance! We’ve had it since we moved in about 4 years ago – our combi is a pretty clapped out old Heatline (for which NOBODY ever stocks parts). We pay about £16 a month for insurance, but by God have we rinsed it. We’ve had heat exchangers pack up, PCBs, filters, valves, the lot.

VAT is usually charged at the prevailing rate when the works were carried out. Not sure about the whole deposit thing though – did you get a receipt for your deposit?

We stayed here a couple of years ago, really nice. Not exactly 5 mins off La Rambla but you pay a lot more to be slap bang in the middle.
