To be fair, the top tubes on Cannondale XC frames do seem to be around 38ft long for some reason…..

I put 180mm 07 66s on mine and it was awesome pointing the bike down, but uphill or even on the flat was a bit of a nightmare as the seat angle was far too slack. Yes you can adjust the angles / BB height with the shock shuttle but I found pedalling interfered with the shock on the steeper setting. You could of course buy an adjustable fork or at least something with ETA. I used a toe strap to lock my fork down.

Can always use an old stem as a guide if you’ve not got the correct tools.

Plenty of jobs in Vancouver Tony, even with the downturn in the economy. Even I’ve got one :-0

All this practicality means shi’ite when it comes to having to maintain them. Just changing a flat takes forever as you generally have to unhook the gears / chainguard etc, plus try and lift the bloody thing off the ground. They also cost the earth if you buy one of those daft retro ones.

Activeduty, You come across as such a twunt.

Pothead colours? That’s the colours of the Ethiopian flag you twit! Are ALL Ethiopian’s potheads? The Rastafarian movement accepts the ritual and spiritual use of cannabis, SO what? Us Brits binge drink. Does that mean that Hope’s employees would be drinking themselves into a stupor and battering the closest person to them because "they looked at me funny" or perhaps while making the Patriot headset, Chris Kings Portland (that’s in Oregon Scruff, Not California) employees are eating to excess while plotting to invade the Middle East and steal all the oil?

Don’ use stereotypes when you’ve got no clear idea what you’re saying!

Additionally, what’s wrong with a bloke having a pink headset? It’s a colour FFS! And who’s to say that all riders are male?

Clearly a number of people commenting on CK stuff have never owned any of it. I’ll agree that I don’t think the front hubs are worth the extra money over a Pro 2 and If I were buying either black or silver wheelsets (where the anodizing would match) I’d buy the Hope. However for the rear, the CK is leaps and bounds ahead of the Hope, both in reliability and performance. Hub weight isn’t much of an issue as it’s at the centre of the wheel.

LOL….Anyway, I’ve had a King headset and thought it was carp.

Thanks guys. I’ll give the bike a good thrashing and see whether I like the shock or not.

Bristolsurfer, aye the shock does feel pretty stiff even with the floodgate totally backed off, but I want the bike to ride more like a hardtail that will take big hits so I think I’ll give it a go. I also want to keep the head angle as slack as possible and I’m not sure what after market shocks are the same length (possibly loads but I’ve not looked. I’d read somewhere that many coil shocks are slightly longer so you run the bike in the 65.5 setting to match the original 67.5 setting, but I don’t want to do that. If that makes any sense at all….).

Grab a large pizza from Al Pics and wonder down to the train station to pull out a big spliff. Finish off the evening by jumping over peoples hedges.

Or seeing as it’s not 1991 any more, there’s one or two places down by the water these days near the Welsh Bridge, and no shortage of pubs. Shrewsbury had the highest pub to people ratio in the UK for a while. Just don’t get your head kicked in by the EBF if they are still alive and bored….

Oh hang on, I get edit AND add smilies now: :x 8) :P
