I did it last year and have signed up again.
    I strava’d it too.
Hope the weather is like last year.
The time in the saddle is a bit tedious and leaving the hardest climb to the end is just demoralising.
Doing it on 1 x 10, 170mm bike this year.

This was fun for a while. Rare lichfield spec c type 25, circa 450bhp.
No scooby burble on full chat due to twin scroll turbo and equal length madifold. screamed like a banshee instead.

this was good for the bikes. 245bhp and 400ftlbs

I guess I got confused then. It’s been a couple of years since I got over there. It’s the berms and steep drop in that is quite prominent in my mind. It was a little daunting from the top but when you drop in and start to flow it was a buzz. Quite a steep track if I remember correctly.
Damn, in going to book a flight and get back over there

It seems like there’s a lot of people wearing less armour lately on dh. A few of my mates only run a lid and knees and this is even after they had to carry me chopper in Chatel after a failed launch and snapped my hip(I had full armour and hip protectors).
I hate wearing all the clumsy gear and enjoy the freedom and fluidity of less armour but generally still suit up when abroad.
On a side note, what do people think of the dh over at Morgin? First time we rode it, it was signed Blue or black so we tried the blue first. ….. holy moly. That’s not a blue! Favorite track of all.

Machen dh then cross over to draethen across the road and do garlic.
Halfwayup, the mojo lot and nine point eight cartel are riding them a lot the past couple of years to name a few.
Halfwayup are meeting at the crown pub thus night at 6 and going up from there. It’s much easier to climb from that side than the Bassaleg side. Did a quick run tonight- fast, dusty conditions.

I’m using a saint m820 with raceface 34t wide/narrow on a 160mm bike. When I got the ring I place a chain around it and thought it would not work. It didn’t seem like the wider teeth had any bearing on holding the chain.
2 rides later now and no dropped chain!
Some sort of witchcraft going on!

Dave Hinde by all accounts is the ‘Devils an*s’ and should not be touched with even the longest,sh!ttiest stick.
Really am miffed how with his reputation he manages to stay in business?

I Wouldn’t try to make it much Lighter. Seems just right to me. Too light and I find I lose stability at high speed and hitting jumps I.e cwmcarn hip jump, a light bike and a bit of wind and I get blown well of track.
Try some tyres circa 750gs. Could drop almost a pound there. It will climb better too.

A lot of people seem to hate kenda surprises but I’ve found the tubeless dual compound ones amazing. Only problem is that they’re a 1000gs each.
I changed to hans dampf and I’m not impressed. Can’t find a pressure i’m happy with them. Too high and they’re skittish, too low and they’re folding over on me (plus they’re now torn to pieces). Good weight though, hence the week side walls.
Tyres seen to have the same issues add everything else in biking. … it’s a compromise.

A digital print on conformable vinyl(wrap) should have a layer of transparent conformable overlay film applied before application. Without this it won’t last two seconds. You’d be able to scratch the print off with your finger nails.

I take it whilst you’re at Afan that you’re riding all the trails including glyncorrwg?
If you’re heading back towards England then cwmcarn is the most obvious sanctioned track(covered in snow today). A good call tbh.

i used to own a traffic sign company, we had just fitted a new vms sign which shows the speed that road users are travelling at.
i decided to try it out by being towed uphill on a demo 8 by one of my staff in his fiesta.
    clocked a reasonable 62mph.

all of them in the place have selective, stinking attitude. anyone i spoke to could not’deal’ with my refund. James, the guy i dealt with stopped answering the phone and was always unavailable. no one returned my calls as promised. i paid on credit card, so i got my money back that way finally this week. i placed the order on the 14th of december! dhr told me the money would be refunded in 3-5 days. yeah right.
    bunch of ****.

    i can understand Tom.
    chainset is 85 all in.
doubt I’d want to split it just yet.
i think it’s more appealing to most in this combo.

cheers schrickvr6, i think. i was busy saturday crashing and breaking my phone at cwmcarn and risca dh, which, you were meant to join in on.
i blame it on the beer you were forcing me to drink the night before.

joking aside, i certainly hope that no one is insinuating that i have done anything untoward. i am not a shop, neither do sell for personal profit, infact i have sold my own items at a great loss to myself and everything I’ve sold has been a bargain for the buyer.
i am a keen mountain biker, ride almost every day and enjoy trying different products as most here probably do.
it’s a great forum and has been brilliant place for all things biking, but i can’t help but feel a little persecuted because of this topic and believe it’s been started a little hastily.

hi guys. ollie here (waldo1). crisis over. my phone has gone to mobile heaven after a “off” at cwmcarn on the weekend which has left me un-contactable by telecommunication device since. available by email though.
everything has been sent by royal mail, with receipts and should be with you at any time now.
if you like send me an email and ill give you my home and work phone number.
M1llhouse, where did you find that picture of me in my university days?

I’ve told my bank and raised the dispute. They’ve sent me forms to fill in a return to them.
I had a quick squizz around on the net before ordering, heard a few stories, just thought I’d give it a whirl. It seems the quality of his wheels is good, just can’t run a business for shit.
I live in south Wales so making a visit isn’t viable, otherwise that would have been my first port of call

I knew people would say pedals, for me stem and bar combo is the biggest personal preference on a bike but you wouldn’t ever buy one without.
i guess the “no pedals, no regs” point is a biggie. I take it then if a bike comes with pedals then it must also have reflectors to be fully road legal?

I’ve run lyrics, all sorts of 36s, bos deville 170 and I am now running 55rc3 evo ti.
The bos are amazing and about 400gs lighter than the 55 but if you want the best performing fork then the 55 gets it.
Love em. They do look a little nasty though and the high/low speed compression are both adjusted by one dial which is an air loaded cartridge and creates quite a bit of stiction. I’ve emptied mine completely and they’re smoooooth.
