cheers for the replies, I'll phone them and see if they have the TRL in stock then decide. I have a ride planned tomorrow so don't fancy faffing about all evening trying to get it inflated.

    Blue Pig

F: 2.5 Minion DHF Supertacky UST
    R: 2.4 Mountain King UST

    Local woods and trail centres

The much maligned Mountain King is actually very good on slippery rocks and roots. The Minion is ace but you do suffer the weight penalty if that sort of thing bothers you….

    – Coire Grogain on page 12 – the steep fireroad then singetrack on the end of this route are superb!

I agree with that, one of my favourite after work rides in the summer. Although the last time I was there it looked like MXers had been on the path and totally churned it up.

yes, no issues at all using a tube and normal tyre.

LOL, why on earth would you need to drop your saddle at trail centres???

Because clearly you can only do that on "natural" trails?

Mr Faulty would certainly attack that bike with a stick…

I've ceased worrying about it, nothing meaningful will be done until hundreds of thousands are dead and millions disposessed. By then we will have to use our ingenuity and what resourses we have left to survive, in some way, the time is past for averting the disaster via technology.

    +1 for that.

Only when it starts to have a significant impact will something be done about it.

MS SQL Express does not allow the use of SQL Management studio though

    – yes it does, well the 2008 version does anyway.

It depends how strict your local council are, they might require to see calculations which can only be submitted by a Charted Structural Engineer.

My mate has an Alpine 160 – RP23 and vans up front nothing lightweight on it apart from the tyres (Big earl and mountain king). His comes in at 32.5lbs, I borrowed it for a few weeks when he was on holiday and was instantly won over. It climbs better than my meta5 and is superb going downhill, as others have said unless you are doing XC whippet racing then it really is one of the best all round bikes out there.

Keep it steady for the first 7-8km – there are usually markers every km so for your time make sure you are hitting them at 6mins each. If you are feeling good towards the end then start to up the pace. You'll get a lift from running with lots of other people. Enjoy it!

edit – just seen your new post. I'd stick with the GF and enjoy the experience and then plan for your next one.

does it not depend on the width of the bars also?

I think all cars with A/C or C/C turn the air con on whenever you whack it on the windscreen symbol

Ah – that explains why that happens with my old mundeo, I just thought it was a fault! Agree with PP, heated windscreen is ace.

Cities is Flight by James Blish is a very good read.

In fact have a look at most of the SF Masterworks series, lots of great books.

You should try an Orange Alpine before making a choice.

60mm on mine, was all I had kicking about at the time. Planning to put a 50mm on it and get wider bars (currently 700mm wide).

I had the same dilema but in the end went for the iphone. The iphone will do all of what you ask. There literally is "an app for that"…

Battery life while running GPS apps on mine is about 3 hours but you can get booster packs to double that. All smart phones suffer from poor battery life under intense use.

If the Android/HTC phones had been more established then I'd have probably went for it instead, my next phone will have Android.

Yes, I am – the profile comes up fine on 819's.

I'll second the Alpine option, I've had a good few rides on my mates one on XC and Downhill and it performed superbly. He has his air shock version just under 32lbs without any silly lightweight parts.

Yeah they are a bit overkill but I've got used to mine now, in fact I now run them on the hardtail – Blue Pig (200F & 180R).

Got one last week but only had one ride on it so far, last bike was a full sus so too early for me to give any decent view but I definately liked it (first time on a hardtail properly in 3 years). I'll second Barney_McGrew's comments – I have never seen a bike have so many "tyre kickers" when it was left outside the cafe at Glentress.

Looks similar to what I had, 10 weeks before I was allowed off road again. I still have a fairly sizable lump, in fact my own GP said he was less than impressed by the consultant.

I use it, it works very well – fast to get a lock on the signal. Only downside is that if you stop it still records so you have to remember to pause it. I've got 3 hours out of it.
