Hainman/GiantJaunt – I've done that route although stupidly the wrong way round – we climbed up from Overtoun House then down the road to Erskine Bridge. Def need to try it the other way round.

I've done the climb from Overtoun House to the first reservior and then just headed back down the way we came up which is an ace fast dh route.

Given that Doddy can manual quite convincingly, i'd suggest it isn't incorrect.

Yep, that's what I was thinking or as SOOBailas alludes to maybe it's the definition?

Timmy – yes, same car park area.

PP – in what way are the Lyriks different, pretty sure I've got some play in the bushes of mine?

Not a linkage bike but the Intense Uzzi will do exactly as you ask.

edit: just noticed it's already been mentioned, I have Totems on mine and have no issues climbing steep stuff with it.

Probaly need new bearings in the hub, play is a classic symptom of this.

HB – possibly because can be dropped off on the way there??

As for the OP – Ae would be the best bet, it has a decent cafe and when you finish the trail you can go back and do the mini-downhill track "The Shredder" a few times.

I run a Lyrik coil U-turn on mine, much better than the pike it replaced but I rarely wind it out to 160.

I have runtastic that I use for running and it's been very good – uploads to a central server so you can view the details online also. They have brought out a companion app "Cyctastic" for biking that is basically the same thing. Simple and very easy to use.

Lets have a test of £99 FS bikes

One of the mags done this (can't remember which one, sorry) and it turned out pretty much as you'd expect…

and easier to inflate tires on.

Are you serious? You are saying that a non UST rim is better at inflating tyres than a UST rim? (not a troll, just a genuine Q)

I was (un)lucky enough to watch this when it was on, Jon Snow was well within his rights to say "shut the f*** up you c***" and move on to the next story.

How did Goldsmith earn all that money as he seems like a clueless idiot to me?

There is the Firetower trail at Lochgilphead if that's not too far away?

Also this route which starts past Inverary.

The 2.35 High Roller LUST UST is a XC tyre, it's the only UST tyre that I have managed to puncture in 3 years running UST…

I know it's a cliché but the Conti Vert Pro 2.3 in UST is robust and sub 1kg.

£70 better off for me, which I find a bit of a joke being a middle earner.

Why not just up the flat rate of tax by 1p??

Try an anti-histamine tablet before going riding? I normally do this as I get bitten a lot by midges and nothing seems to stop them but using an anti-histamine tablet definately lessens the effect of the bite.

Only issues I've ever had are with lightweight tyres, put a bit of sealant in before pumping and it usually works a treat.

I sometimes have to lightly press the tyre over the valve when pumping to give it a kick start?

Got new bike recently with normal rims – tubes are much more of a faff than tubeless….

They are planning a red route, no idea when it will be ready. There was a twitter update midweek saying that they are scopping it out soon.

If you want to see proper full on then try and dig out the footage from last year in the wet, even the winner had a proper over the bars crash on his winning run.

BB – the mechanic at my LBS was in the race, I'll ask him what it's like for us mere mortals..

    Hope Pro2 hubs

You having a laff? The bearings are crap, the freehubs get damaged and the pawl springs break! XCs are more reliable, they only snap axles.

Funnily enough my pawl springs broke last weekend and the freehub is knackered.

Things that work – SLX front mech (double) been flawless so far.

I tried the Halo Choir master UST, was good initially but it wore out very quickly although as you say for that price it's worth a try.

I'd avoid the highroller LUST – it's the only UST tyre I've managed to puncture.
