My two penneth – really wish we could access the data that was lost when the hackers knacked up the server, would be interesting to see how many of the current nay sayers were praising LA when he won his last and record breaking TdF? ‘I can see a band wagon and must jump on it’ mentallity…

My claim to fame with the murder in the original post is I once viewed that cottage when I was living in Bromsgrove but didn’t buy as the back garden was too small and the A38 out front was too busy, house will be cheap as chips in a few months

Second murder in the Bromsgrove area since chrimble

Endura eVent jacket – 100% waterproof
    Endura eVent 3/4’s – 100% waterproof
Shimano MW80 and normal socks – 100% waterproof

eVent gear washed at 30 degrees without anything just to remove mud, 12 months on and working fine

Missed a good one over Clent last night mate, Cheeky Trail was about 8 inches deep!!! BTW my recommendation for tyres based on the last 2 rides in the snow is big fat ones at low pressure, running the Nevegal/ Blue Groove 2.3’s at 25psi, griptastic, have a spare pair if you want to borrow them for the trip home ;-)

Not got my pics off the phone yet but was good fun up at Clent with Mick and Nige (bonesetter) above, had a first there as well as we overtook a guy on his skis on the way down to the car park, think this happened as we melted his retinas with 3 trillion lumens of LED light ;-)

What about the new diesel Jag XF, around 6 seconds to 60, 50-70 in 3.2, electronically ltd to 155mph and still returns 42mpg, £36,900

Gore Ride-on fitted to my 5 last year, silky smooth shifting now, even had some outer left over, front mech doesn’t require full outer so more than enough in the box to do the rear. To be fair, fitting the gore cable was just a whim as I’ve never suffered a mis shift on my 5 from new, even during 2007’s mudfest at Mayhem it shifted sweet as a nut

Focus TDCi, 2 Thule 591’s and 2 Thule 531’s on the roof, average 48mpg back and forth to work and general driving, as above with 4 bikes (2 adult, 2 child and camping gear for a weekend, average 48mpg, go figure that one (mpg calculated by dividing mileage done by fuel added, not using the onboard computer)

Right, at the weekend I dropped the glowplugs out and shorted them across the battery, glowing red after 5 seconds. Also tested battery voltage, 12.3V across terminals, voltage at glow plugs 11.9V, voltage at battery with everything on at tickover 14.3V so alternator seems to be charging ok, is 12.3V a bit low and would it be wise to replace battery? also, following the warning about the starter motor, if the engine was cranked before the glow plugs got hot the power to the plugs would dissappear. Anyway, current situation is turn ignition on, wait 5 seconds then crank and engine starts on second or third turn.

    Thanks for all the advice

Use the same torque as Shimano quote, Park Tools website has instructions on fitting and how to torque the BB up using the unique spanner that fits the cups

Not sure how old the battery is but it spins the engine easily, last night took about 10-12 seconds of cranking without any noticeable drop in cranking speed before finally spluttering to life
