My thoughts on this are if done considerately and respecting other users then not an issue, however, one question I have is – Where do pavements end and footpaths begin? Most on here would welcome Scotland’s right to roam and hence the ability to cycle responsibly along footpaths so why such an anti cycling on pavements stance? In cities I can see the problems but in smaller towns etc I can’t see any problem. I regularly use about 4 miles of pavement to get to one of my local loops, I generally ride in the evenings and the pavement runs alongside a major trunk road that is quite narrow, pavement is seperated from the road by a grass verge, much safer option in my opinion.

Rim strip is just the yellow one, valve core removed for better airflow.

Wheel was hung up as per the video instructions on the stans web site so no pressure anywhere on the tyre

Stu, thanks for the offer but don’t know when I’ll be over that way (certainly not this week as the car is in for repairs)

Will be having another crack tonight as I have more time

The tyres have been run with tubes for a couple of weeks. The flow rim strip was already fitted (Hope hoops from Wheelpro)

Can’t pump any faster and tyres have neat washing up liquid around the bead

Not seen a flat tyre button on the garage compressors

    What compressor can you recommend?

    Mr Agreeable,

I assume you are trolling there, the question that you have quoted is clearly a request for people to post pictures of how they are securing their bikes but to do it in a way that neither reveals where the person is located nor reveals what the security device is securing.

I am sure there are more than a few scumbags that browse forums like this in the belief that someone will display their bike in a way that discloses where it is kept and in which area of which town/village it is.

Seconded sending them back to hope, sent my V2’s back for a service and got brand new calipers, new pads, new braided hose for the rears all for the price of £0.00, not had a problem with them since.

Best is a combination of lowest mean with lowest variation, from the list above 3.34+/-0.67 is better than 3.00+/-1.66, better is the overall spread is tighter and closer to 0, difficult to describe properly however for example 5+/-1 is worse than 3.00+/-1.66

    votchy
    Free Member

That’s fine but I need to calculate the best combination of mean and range by variant at each measurement point, a sample set of data could be 3.34+/-0.67,4.32+/-1.59,0.02+/-0.12,3.00+/-1.66,5.35+/-2.12,0.40+/-0.51,6.22+/-2.64

How do you use Excel to calculate the 4 best mean and range combinations?

On my old NRS I found it best to run with approx 2mm of sag (on the shock), this prevented any bobbing (105kg bodyweight) and allowed the suspension to be quite plush. I have used both the Giant NRS shock and the Rockshox SID and this works equally well with both.

591 and a Five here and no issues, make sure you use some helicopter tape in the area that you clamp on if you don’t want to wear the paint away. managed to do about 10 miles with my mates Trek EX on a 591 without any wheel straps, journey consists of winding lanes and dual carriageway so have every faith in the clamp 8O

TPS and ex-directory here, in the last week I have had a couple of calls that as soon as I answer a recorded message begins, am waiting to see what comes up on my bill as I fear it may be one of those scams that charges you for answering, hung up within 2 seconds both times.

Looking forward to whatever my wife has planned for me, not sure it will be a Blur LT though. Am trying to stay young feeling but some of the music I am listening to is definitely too young for me 8O

Thanks for all the positive comments…

Don’t think anyone has actually said that the pain is too much to bear, the question was why the sting is more severe after ran than they normally are, personally I quite enjoy a good nettling but that’s another story

    Ben,

great ride yesterday, really enjoyed it, another offer if you fancy Clent some time. Interesting journey back, missed the A456 and ended up coming back over Bromyard downs, Mick and his hangover not much good as navigators

Bikes almost spot less when we got home so the rain wasn’t too bad :D

switch mine on and off on the fly, however, on the rp23 you cannot switch between the 3 pro pedal settings on the fly, the shock needs to be fully extended to do this and the pro pedal lever in the off position, also think you must change numerically ie 1-2, 2-3, 3-2, 2-1, can’t go 1-3 or 3-1.

I run 11-32 and was wondering about going to 11-34, however, to really see the benefit does anyone do an 17t chainring?

2.35 Blue Groove DTC on the front and 2.35 Nevegal DTC on the rear, both folding bead, both run ghetto, good and predictable grip in everything bar gloopy mud, found they roll well at ghetto pressures too (28 front and 35 rear), have swapped to 2.35 High rollers 60 or 62a (whatever they are available as can’t remember) wire bead single ply casings, been on for about a month now and compared to the Kendas my current experiences are they are very draggy, they grip ok but not as well as the kendas, not as good in general muddy conditions, not gone ghetto yet so not a truely fair comparison, current thoughts though are when they wear out I’m going back to the kendas (also used to like cinders but when run back to back with the kendas I found the cinders to be pap)
Forgot to say I found an improvement when I changed from the factory fitted nevegal on the front to a blue groove

My rear wheel (2007 Pro) is bang on central to the frame, the rear swingarm appears to be slightly asymetric as there is a couple of mm difference in tyre clearance, 2.35 Nevegal on the back has plenty of mud clearance, bike tracks well, corners well, climbs well and descends well so no fuss from me.

Just talking about this at work, waiting for the NOTW or something to reveal that either a) the MP does not have an account with the bank they are waving a cheque about from or b) do not have sufficient funds in said account to cash the cheque

See the MP’s are now calling for a probe in to the pub industry, why, to deflect attention from themselves?
