But there is no mention of the silly trousers, red nose, water squirting flower and the fire engine driven by dwarves with buckets of shredded paper associated with 29er bikes :D

Why would you want a lock out on a fork for steep techy climbs, surely the suspension helps in those situations? My 5 only fails to get up things when my legs give up, front can get light but only if you are in the wrong position on the bike, get on the nose of the saddle and it climbs really well.

Right then, many thanks to all, finally got maps sorted, loaded Ovi successfully and it recognised my phone, used maploader (as IA keeps saying ) and all is well now, also copied Sportstracker v2.06 across from my old 6220 and that seems to be working ok too.

I am now at peace with my new phone so just treated myself to a listen of The Prisoner with Clive Burr's drum intro :D

Is there a conflict if I keep PC suite on my pc and then install Ovi? Ovi was downloaded last night from the nokia site so I would think it is the latest version. When running the set-up wizard I connect the phone using the usb cable and after it searches for several minutes it says it cannot find a device connected to my pc. Will have another play tonight.

Have got the latest version of ovi maps on my phone, 3.06. This still only shows major a roads and motorways and they are only visible when I zoom out to 4km screen setting, they then disappear when I zoom in, how can I fix this as I need more than major roads for route planning.

Thanks for the link to sportstracker, will install tonight.

Can remember watching it fly over in the early 90's when I used to attend Reading festival over the August BH weekend, beautiful sight and loud enough to drown out whoever was on stage at the time, something that is sorely missed, concorde, not reading festival :D

I can't get Ovi to work on Vista

same here, PC runs vista too so maybe there is a conflict

Did you load the actual maps onto it? You need the application AND the map data.

Went to the nokia site and downloaded the map data, assumed that as the phone has the application on it I did not need to do anything else, will go and check it out

V2's on my 5 with the vented rotors, 16 stone, Fox 32's and no noticeable flex on the fork, brakes are superb, no issues with glazing pads or not getting them bedded in properly, superb brakes and glad I did the upgrade.

Dude looks like a lady by Aerosmith for calls and texts are the sound of a heavy calibre machine gun being cocked then fired. I don't give a flying f*ck what anyone else thinks about me, I'm happy :D

Did have 'Ginger's are creepy' for texts but this may offend some so changed it

My house seems to have a major problem with cat fouling, obviously not the cats fault but I have expressed my disgust at the neighbours that own cats, next step is a weekly clean up and deposit of said cat mess proportionately on the neighbours drives that own cats, see how they like it.

Steve,

have a look at getting him a very light spring first, have had the same problem with Harry on his, have changed to a lighter spring and also cut down the elastomer damper, fork is now much more useable for him although he still only gets about 70mm of the available 100mm. Give us a call if you want to know more

datsunman – you are the only other person on a pump that is on here as far as I know, control during riding is the only bit I am still struggling with after 2 years on the pump, how are you getting on with changing basal and bolus to compensate? Would like to hear what adjustments you make as my diabetes team do not have any other pump users that do anything overly exertive, can you e-mail me please, addy in profile

I have been on an insulin pump for 2 years now, initially it is a lot of testing and pump adjustments, however, it has revolutionised my life, control is the best it has ever been and only need to inject once every three days (when you change the set) rather than 5 or 6 times per day.

Good luck

Had diabetes for 33 years now and one thing you need to be clear about – it is hard work, the more effort you make, the better you will be. There are a number of websites that are useful and can help with inspiration:

runsweet
american endurance mtb'er

There are so many things to consider but just remember, apart from driving buses etc, diabetes won't stop you doing many things, you just have to think about it a lot more. Quite a few with diabetes on here, feel free to e-mail any questions, addy in profile.
Have done the last 4 Mountain Mayhems, several other enduros, Dyfi, Rough Ride and plenty of all dayers and weekends.

Tim,

yep, thats the very one at the bottom of the autobahned bridleway we used to descend with the stump in the middle of the bend. Feckenham routes are great in this weather, once it thaws over the weekend they will be out of bounds for some time. How is it down on the 'moor?
