The key fob is the same shape as the car, bit cheesy in my view. Had one at work for benchmarking and it is not up to the usual standard of Porsche fit and finish, the valet guys will cut themselves to ribbons on the headlamps and taillamps (wide gaps and razor sharp edges, US lawsuit anyone!!), not the prettiest car but seems fairly practical.

Didn't get chance to get out, 3hrs of numpty drivers and posh cars with all the electronic gizmos on them that couldn't negotiate a bit of snow, the 3hrs was from Coventry to Redditch btw

MBoy – shame, that purple would have lasted all of 10 mins, after that you couldn't tell what colour anyones bike was, even Mick's tiger striped inbred was unrecognisable

    Wrong tyres for snow.

Not sure which Kendas they are but BG and Nev's worked great for me in snow, although, to be fair you can't really call that snow

Great fun last night, camber and caravan both contained sphincter puckering moments as did 8' drop, don't think I've pedalled downhill that much before 8O and the chicken pathia afterwards rounded off a splendid evening :D

I know there's enough up there, what went wrong was Harry was knackered when he got to the top of the YBR so he had a breather and then riding across the top he couldn't get going again so when we dropped down to Ashton he just wanted to go home, I did think about leaving him in the car and finishing off the loop but that meant riding up YBR again so didn't bother

Will keep an eye on the website for where you are riding and will let you know when I'm popping down

    998 Cooper S Head

sorry for being a pedant but Cooper S were 970, 1071 or 1275, Coopers were 998, Cooper S head was also 11 stud not 9 and if fitted to a 998 block the valves would hit the block as all Cooper S had same bore and capacity was varied by stroke length

Have just spent a couple of hours in the garage, new cable for rear, stripped them down, cleaned, regreased pivots, fitted new pads, cleaned wheel rims and … they stop my 100kgs just fine, infact I accidentally endoed on the wet tarmac, levers adjusted as close to bars as poss and moved as far inboard as poss. Quite pleased with myself. He's just got home from school and said 'thanks, but I still want discs' – ungrateful little sh1t :D

That the drop near the bottom just before the path on the long grassy autobahn? If so my first trip down there was fun but we hit it at nearer 40mph so no fear of OTB, did pucker the sphincter tho :D

Hi Tim, glad to see you're still having fun down there, just stop acting like a nob and using offensive language, need to organise a 'Clent Duffers'(TM) visit some time this year to do some proper mincing riding :D

Not unique to CK, have seen other hubs freeze, a liberal application of 'universal maintenance fluid'* always sorts them out whatever make they are

If I go down the hydraulic disc route it also means new shifters as currently he has brake and shifter units combined, also need to buy rotors on top for both shimano and avids as he has centrelock hubs, the M495 are £32 each end complete with centrelock rotors and have a pretty good write up when reviewed on Bikeradar.

The advice above re setting the V's up properly, I have them set as close to the rim as is possible while still allowing you to unclip the noodle for puncture repair, can't see any flex when I apply the brakes, levers are as close to the bars as feasible and as far inboard as poss to allow max leverage, pads hit the rim nice and square, cables nice and clean, only 6 months old, rims spotless, pivots nice and clean and lubricated, no sticking arms or anything.

    Mick, Steve,

thanks for the offer of the disks, prob is Harry's hubs are shimano centre lock so not a goer with your brakes. I have a set of Avid single digit or something V brakes that were fitted to Jue's Inbred so could try them. Another option is to swap everything off the Inbred on to Harry's although I fear 180 M4's F&R might be excessive for his 40kg's 8O

Being a fashion victim, my son is badgering me down the disc route, anyone any experience of these Shimano M495

Do NOT use optical link from tv to AV amp, this will only give a stereo sound source, optical link from sky+ and from ps3 (if it has one, not familiar with ps3) in to av amp, this will give 5.1 sound inputs to the amp that it can then process properly. Position of tv and speakers is most important part of getting the best out of the system, what hifi has a good rule of thumb guide to positioning, best to have tv in centre of one wall, not in a corner. Finally, position of the sub can help with the clarity of the bass, again the what hifi guide is quite useful. Even though your budget is quite modest (compared to what some people pay) you will notice a huge improvement in sound quality and overall viewing/gaming pleasure. Would be worth looking at the all in one systems and some bargains available on ebay, just cos they have a dvd doesn't mean you have to use it.

    Nige,

beware, some of the junctions on Malvern have several exits that your GPS will point at, can be a bit hit and miss (this happened to me first time I went). Enjoy the climb from the quarry car park to the beacon, bit harsher than Clent :D

There are parental control settings in the control panel, you can set these to be appropriate for your childs age, think there may be an option in Firefox too.

I just use my work stand but then again, I hose the bike on the drive in front of the garage and the stand is easily accessible, when finished just carry stand and bike back in to garage

Crikey, I have V2's with vented rotors and have had my retinas reattached due to their power and they come out bottom of the pile 8O
