Really disappointing race following LH’s lap of the season qualifier. As a racing fan I want to see cars and drivers on the limit from lights out to chequered flag, the tyre managing strategy for the first 15 or so laps was an insult to the spectators that have paid to watch the pinnacle of motorsport. The most exciting bit of the race was whether max would get out the pits in front of vettel, once he did vettel gave up and settled for 3rd, really was very disappointing.

Dont think you’ll get anything as good as F1’s at £120 a corner (where is that by the way, I shelled out 165 ea for mine?)

Would a child with Type 1 Diabetes get a medical exemption certificate to allow them to purchase Lucozade if required to treat a hypo? I know there are other ways to treat them but sugary drinks are one of the best ways (Type 1 diabetes for 42 years that uses Lucozade as 1st stop to treat hypos)

If you are unsure walk away, plenty of VRS’s out there, would not drop to the Leon as I drove one back to back with a VRS and the Leon is much more plasticky inside and tinny, the VRS felt more up market and sounded nicer when pushed hard too.

Loads of great new music out there and a lot of it is or has been influenced by the stuff that ‘we’ listened to when we were younger, look at the number of teens that listen to Nirvana, RHCP, Oasis etc and are now forming bands. Great new bands like DMA’s are playing to crowds of all ages, Cardiff has a huge music scene (as probably most major cities do) with loads of young bands playing 3/400 capacity gigs. as said earlier, the proliferation of music and how easily accessible it is now just means there is more competition and less likelihood of becoming a huge touring/recording artist that spans several decades…..all IMHO of course

We met a couple whilst on honeymoon in Kenya in 1994, we met the same couple in 2004 staying in the same hotel as us in Gran Canaria, and like us they now had 2 young sons…..mind blown :D

If it was me being overtaken I may have thought ‘idiot’ but then just carried on and not bothered about it, no-one got hurt, no-one got inconvenienced etc so why worry about it?

I am too old to care now, if someone is in a hurry let them go, rather someone travelling/wanting to travel faster than me be in front than behind

F31 330d XDrive M Sport here, ditched the run flats after a 1000miles and grip has improved no end, ride is not as ‘crashy’ as it was on the runflats but still evident (a consequence of the xdrive suspension setup), ACS springs are on order to correct that issue and the understeer that the xdrives suffer from, will then be able to enjoy the true potential of that awesome straight 6 on my commute :D

Whatever way you look at it we were the better team over 90 minutes and won 2-1, I really don’t care how we play, at this level a win is a win and 3 points is 3 points, we made plenty of chances and restricted them to 1 and that was the penalty.

    Not for interiors they don’t

Yes they do, all the switches are the same base part with sometimes different switch caps, gives them enormous quantities of scale that allows them to do higher quality parts on the lower cost variants. There are a myriad of ‘hidden’ interior components, some are used from SEAT Mii all the way through the VAG range to Audi A8.

Admittedly a lot of the carryover items are within the body construction/chassis/powertrain and the mechanical fixings – nuts/bolts/clips

Our experience at work benchmarking competitor vehicles has revealed much of the switchgear, controls etc are used across the entire VAG group so you get a perceived higher quality user interface in the cheaper models (SEAT, Skoda), the differences are then the quality of materials, levels of sound deadening, quality of inter layers, quality of plastics etc and the money being spent in areas that ‘most’ customers value (armrest cofort/enhanced surface finishes etc). Wrapped console sides are more premium than plastic but the VW plastics are a higher grade and a different grain so although still plastic, they are more premium than SEAT or Skoda.

When I have hired a car abroad on holiday I have always taken out my own excess cover policy through companies such as insurance 4 car hire. The cost was quite reasonable to cover the hire firms excess charge of 1500 to 1800 euros, was significantly cheaper than taking the hire firms ‘comprehensive’ policy.

The costs could be controlled if the government were prepared to do something about diet and obesity by tackling the food industry. About 10% of the NHS budget is for treating diabetes largely caused by obesity and apparently 1 in 6 NHS beds are occupied by diabetes sufferers.

Please be careful how you word things…this refers to Type 2 diabetes, not us poor buggers that have Type 1 which is not self induced.

As for tackling the food industry, how about being draconian and making people responsible for their own health, obesity has **** all to do with genetics, just self control.

Another Road ID user here, have it on a red wriststrap fastened to the front of my camelbak strap so easily visible. the important information on it for me is I have Type 1 diabetes and this may be the reason I am unconscious if found on my own. For the few quid it cost it’s a little piece of mind when riding solo.

Sometimes going a bit left field can pay dividends insurance wise, popular cars statistically have more accidents (due to the quantity on the road) and therefore have higher insurance premiums, my 2 sons when they passed did this, son 1 has C2 Code which is a C2 VTS with limited edition trim, only 3500 registered in UK, insurance cheaper than 1l Vauxhall Corsa and an absolute blast to drive, same performance as VTS and 1500 quid cheaper to insure!! Son 2 went for Alfa Mito, low performance but cool looks, good spec and cheaper than similar age Fiestas, Corsa’s etc.

I was under the impression that ALL new drivers had to have black box insurance?

I have used it and find it brilliant, I set it at 70 on a dual carriageway and it kept me safe distance from car in front and brought me down to a standstill at the trafficlight controlled roundabout, then accelerated smoothly back to 70. The only thing that confused it was the signs on a smaller roundabout!!

As above, I listen to some and skip others, have discovered some great music and also heard some absolute drivel but then music is a very subjective thing so no-one can ever be categorically right or wrong :D

I wonder if this is due to multi cultural Britain. We have a wonderfully diverse population from many different backgrounds and cultures where the ‘English politeness and manners’ is different to their native cultures. This then spreads to those they come into contact with (the opposite also happens) and we end up with some people are polite and have manners through to others that display none of either. It’s the modern world, treat others how you would like to be treated and dont worry about others as you wont change them.

Was at the stuffies and neds in brum last sunday, fantastic night out. The O2 Institute in brum is a great venue as is Wolverhampton Civic Hall, also fond memories of the Odeon on New Street back in the day and the hummingbird too.

What has happened with motor shows? There used to be attention to detail with cars being prepped and well presented, that clip has shown that manufacturers now dont even line the wheels up on the stand, the oil filler on the ferrari on the squiff, odd wheels on the jag and range rover (LH and RH not sym opp so they roll in different directions!), the bonnet and nose cone on the volvo misaligned…propper shoddy in my view.

Top 4 lap times are all under 1:21:00, last year first day finished with only 2 cars under 1:22:00 so looks like they are quicker straight out the box assuming last year was comparable conditions
