You can use sockets as drifts to knock the bearings in/out but care is required due to the chamfered edge of the socket. Alternatively you can do as I have and modified the necessary sockets with a grinding wheel to create a flat surface to but up against the bearing race (sockets modified as per socket for Fox forks top cap)

Has everything settled down since diagnosis for you?

    – not sure who this was aimed at  but was diagnosed 33yrs ago and been on an insulin pump for the last 2. Have tried different things with the pump including reduced bolus, square waved etc, etc and always drops

The joys of us all being different then, must try something else for brekkie as tucking in to dextrose at 08:00 not my idea of fun.

    Steve,

At the moment my diabetes is not really stopping me doing much but i know that will change at some stage in the not too distant future

    – no it won't (unless you are joining the military, hgv driver etc), it just means you have to think about what you are doing a bit more

I'm almost constantly hungry, unless I'm riding my bike or having sex

    – what difference does that make? :D

According to the glycemic index, porridge ranges from 42 to 63 depending on the oats used so falls in to the medium GI range, a GI of 100 is the same as Glucose.

So you have to shell out £50k on top of already owning a 'proper' Aston to buy one, suppose people will, eejits!!

I believe his statement was along the lines of he saw maiden and looked at the singer (Di'anno) and thought to himself I want to be that guy. Anyway, aside from that it seems that Bruce has an enormous amount of energy, must be quite tiring piloting that plane as well as gigging, did like the road crews choruses of 'You're sh1t, and you know you are' every time one of the flight crew dropped a clanger :D

My formative music years started early 80's, first gig was Maiden at Birmingham Odeon on the NOTB tour, seen them half a dozen times but not for over 10 years, been listening to them a lot since watching this programme and just ordered several CD's of albums that have long since departed. Still have my blood red vinyl copy of NOTB though :D

The only point I would make is it's absolute boll0x about facing frames for external bearings, the torques involved will not distort the cup and hence misalign the bearings, the only factor involved is the quality of the threads, only been riding 6 years so only experience is with ISIS and external, ISIS = rubbish, external = good. Quality of bearings/sealing in external is where the problems lie.

Could also try Kenda Blue Groove DTC 2.3 front and Nevegal 2.3 DTC rear, if you like the Nevegals for everything except tarmac then just change the compound, been using the above all year round on my 5 running them tubeless, roll ok on tarmac and grip ok on all sorts of off road conditions, mud, ice, snow, roots, rocks etc

Well, after last nights Clent Duffers (TM) mince around Wyre it's pretty easy to see why components wear out. Had a great ride, out for 3.5hrs, never felt cold once but the grinding paste gloop froze solid to everything, didn't get home until midnight so have had to neglect trying to clean 25mm thick frozen mud from the bike, front mech frozen solid, rear mech frozen solid, bike frozen solid to rack on car when I got home. Best bit was watching 6' 7" tall Steve on his big wheeled jobbie go 4rse over tit in to mud soup that was well over his knees, if he'd got a normal bike it would've stopped much sooner and the mud would've only been half way up his shins :D

Top ride in component grinding conditions which has been the norm (other than a couple of snowy rides) in the midlands since well before christmas.

Done the last 3 all on an Orange 5, weighing in around 31lbs, no issues in the mud and nice and comfy in the dry, but then, I only have one bike to choose from

Also, had loads of fun even though I never did a sub 50 min lap, not sure what that post was about other than willy waving :D

Also to be fair to the OP, those spares are spread across 2 bikes and sometimes it's just coincidence that everything seems to go at once, sods law or something like that, should be fun tonight then with skipping gears and shonky changes due to poorly setting up the new parts – assuming he's not still fitting the bearings when I pick him up :D

I ride with Mic, areas we ride are either too claggy to ride from home (clay based soil just clogs everything up so not an option), limited mostly to night riding due to work and family commitments so long drives to 'better' areas isn't an option, areas that are driveable are all gritty mudfests this time of year so are hard on components.

Anyone else that knows Mick will also vouch for his cleaning and lubing (and general faffing) with his herd, you should see the state of his drive where the bikes are washed!!!!

He just needs to mtfu and get on with it though, unless of course Mrs Arms has seen the credit card statement and then he needs to worry :D

To be fair, if it's only a 10min ride then by the time you've faffed around getting the bike out, putting all your hi-viz clothing on and turned on your 72 lights I would've just driven to work, much quicker and a lot less hassle :D

Having seen the youtube footage and the original footage on MOTD and also looking at the picture at the start of this thread one thing is clear, Ramsey's leg has gone before there was any contact in the tackle, this is something that has happened to other footballers in the past (think Cisse's leg went when he was at Liverpool). There is no blame to be laid at anyone's door, feel sorry for the lad and hope he has a speedy and full recovery but also believe the red card should be recinded (spl) as the stoke player is probably suffering enough as it is even though no blame can be appointed to him, he needs to back back on the pitch playing competitively asap.

The Wyre Forest also seems to be suffering from similar, albeit they are not constructing 8' wide family friendly trails, just devastating the forest in general, will soon become the wyre series of copses with large areas of scrub land in between, seems every time we ride there a section of singletrack has been covered in felled trees.
