Frejus/St Raphael on the Cote d’azur, stunning beaches, stunning scenery, they are on the edge of the maritime alps where they run the Roc d’azur every year, holiday there most years but not yet ridden my bike there as there are so many other things to do, have taken our kids there since they were toddlers and they are mid teens now.

Is Mrs Poly on MDI’s or pump therapy? If pump therapy it is quite easy to lower basal rate to help control BS without needing lots of snacks.

Ginger Nuts, held back to back are equally awesome with both tea and also a glass of nice cold milk, so nice in fact that doing more than 12 is mandatory…

Can remember seeing him in the 80’s at the NEC, turned the PA off and could hear him singing clear as day at the back, very powerful voice

Without wishing to offend anyone who works for JLR, but i find their transcals (and engine cals) to be hit and miss at the best of times. For me, L405 (new RR) is one of their better cals, and L359 with V6diesel (disco4) one of the worse.

It only offends us at JLR when you get the code numbers wrong, L359 is Freelander, Disco is L319, could tell you the others but might get in trouble 😉

Trouble is most LBS cannot carry the stock, dont know any near me that I can go and try different makes and sizes on as it’s prohibitive, places like CRC can afford to carry that stock and people like me can order 2 different sizes if I am not sure and send the ill fitting item back free of charge and get a refund, LBS will never be able to compete with that unfortunately

Isn’t the easy solution, dr says lose weight/stop smoking/drink less or whatever that can be done reasonably by the client – client does not heed dr’s advice, client pays for treatment directly related to the non heeded advice?

Actual sleep is between 5 and 6 hours a night, am trying to address this was in bed at 10 last night, am going to try this for a couple of weeks to see if anything improves, I drive to work anyway, no gym, not riding as much as I should so exercise is less than norm but only by a couple of rides a week. When I do go to bed I generally sleep well although the early night last night was difficult to drop off. Rarely drink alcohol, maybe one bottle of beer a week, trying to read before bed now to avoid the screen issue, drink tea and coffee in the mornings but generally not after lunch. Diet is not too bad, mostly home cooked with veg in each meal. Hoping the extra hours will help each night as so far, it seems I am doing most of the suggestions.

As with many changes, takes a few mins to learn/adapt just like the changes between MS Office 2003 and 2010, uproar for 1/2 hr then people actually tried to use it and all fine since. Updating from vista to win 8 on my desktop saved it from going through the window!!

Been on a pump for around 3.5yrs too, and as fenred states I would never go back to MDI. No issues with it getting in the way for anything, goes in the pocket of my trousers at work, pocket of my shorts when riding, they are quite tough (regularly have technical dabs and comedy dismounts up to and including several broken ribs) and although not rated as waterproof mine has got soaked on several occasions without harm. The ability to make minute adjustments to basal and bolus rates combined with carb counting makes control on rides easy to manage (takes a bit of time to work things out through trial and error). Overall it is the single best thing I have done in the management of my diabetes and , although not for everyone (one downside being that you have a constant reminder of your diabetes as it is attached 24/7, something that seems to be a psychological issue to some), would recommend it to anyone considering it. Feel free to mail me if you want to know more.
Does your PCT have the ability to give you a pump to trial that contains saline rather than insulin? This could give you an idea of what wearing one feels like.

Who fits protection to their forks and shocks to keep mud off them? If not, why do dropper posts need them (gravity dropper excluded as it’s fit and forget)?

Fitted UST RQ’s straight out of the box, soapy water on bead, seated using ghetto inflator, removed valve core, insert required jizz, reseat with ghetto inflator, once seated inflate to approx 35psi (leave pump attached to ghetto inflator) slide tube off valve and put finger over valve to stop air escaping, remove finger and quickly screw valve core back in, top back up to 35psi, do the funky jizz dance then adjust pressure accordingly – happy days 😀

As above, he should’ve been arrested there and then, he will be in a lot of trouble for that (major issue if the ball boy is a minor) and deserves a lengthy if not lifetime ban from professional football, absolutely unforgivable.

The thing I am finding with it is although the temp has been below freezing virtually all week the ground is so wet it cant freeze where it is really muddy, makes riding almost impossible where you break through the frozen crust in to axle deep gloopy mud, the loose snow is very grippy and the solid ice is too (running 2.4″ Rubber Queen black chilli at 20psi), lost my sense of humour on the off road stuff last night so ended up doing an urban ride and enjoying every minute of that.

What a **** disappointment, hardly any snow at home and even less at work, hope those muppets that went panic buying yesterday are happy! Why do we trust weather reports when they say snow then dismiss them for the rest of the year????

Called in at my local Morrisons on the way home from work as we did genuinely need a few bits and bobs, it was like christmas in there, every checkout had a queue of trolleys loaded to the max, no bread, hardly any fruit and veg, loads of other empty shelves, people just go mental at the hint of snow!!

If the snow is fresh, any decent knobbly tyre works, if its been compacted a big tyre 2.2 or above run fairly low pressure gives a large footprint and plenty of grip

Wyre Forest was bloody hard work last night, all the mud had a frozen crust that you sank through then had to pedal through 4 or 5 inches of thick mud with the added difficulty of the frozen top layer, was hard work but fun, where there was no mud it was nice and fast and plenty of grip except for the obvious sheets of ice across the trail.

Full length outers for rear mech, had no issues last night in -4 and XT rear mech, front mech the mud froze solid around it so nothing that could be done there.

Bought my son one last Easter, great bike for the money (he rides same size frame as me) so have used it a couple of times, not had any issues with it so far, the suntour forks with lockout work well, the wheels are more than stiff and strong enough, transmission and brakes work well and the frame looks and feels good enough to last a good while and not inhibit future upgrades, would recommend one as a first ‘serious’ mtb

After losing my sense of humour last year at Eastnor (ridden MM every year since 2006) would like to see it somewhere else, hope there isnt any good fishing rivers nearby as the 16th is first day of the season, having thousands of mtb’ers larking about nearby is gonna upset someone 😀

From my 30 years of gigs I cannot pin it down to one band but those on the list include:

    Queen – best frontman ever
The Who – still the loudest band I’ve seen
    AC/DC – quintessential boogie rock
Iron Maiden – note perfect rock
Alice in Chains – unbelievable harmonies
Big Country – heart on their sleeve rock
Status Quo – feel good factor rock
Motorhead – they shouldnt be that good
Pearl Jam – stadium rock at its finest

Will add more as the memories return 😀
