Screen was broken whilst in his bag at school, so probably from being dropped or kicked, screen is still flush with bezel and there are no steps in the glass across the cracks, nexus is approx 4 months old, can’t see how I can do anything other than go down the repair route.

Definitely need a cover over the changeover area. How far away is the camping from the course? It really helps riding through the campsite in the early hours and getting cheered on by people that have had too much to drink etc. 24hr disco in the woods would be good like a few years ago at Eastnor, especially if by a little tricky feature that meant a cheer from the disco crew if you cleared it, possibly a jump of doom there.

We were staying just outside Caernarfon, woke my wife but no-one else heard/felt it, people next door told us about it in the morning.

Trial and error, find a section of trail that features several different kinds of impacts such as big square edged and also lots of smaller chattery ones. If you have 10 clicks of adjustment, for example, ride trail with 0 clicks then ride again with 10 clicks, which feels better? If 10 clicks then ride trial back to back with 10 clicks and 5 clicks. If 5 feels better this time then ride back to back with 5 and 8 clicks. Keep doing this until there is no adjustment left and voila, you have set your rebound.

It appears the Mk 1 escort did not survive.

A bit of T-cut will sort that out 😀

Anyone find that if you hypo in the night you lie there thinking “I’ll go back to sleep and I’ll be alright” wake up five mins lare soaking and think “get up you pillock” eat a huge bowl of cereal with milk, then wake up the next day with a BGL of 20. Like, FFS!!

I find one of the hardest things to do is treat hypos effectively, I know I should follow the 15-15 rule but when your BS is 2.2 your body goes in to a self preservation mode and logical thought does become very difficult.

One thing that I haven’t seen touched on so far in this thread is the emotional difficulty of dealing with diabetes from your partners perspective, can be quite tough on them when you get stroppy in public if your BS goes high or low as generally you are seen as being an 4rse by everyone else and the ‘ why does she put up with him talking to her like that?’ comments and glances, I really appreciate how much help my wife gives me and the grief I cause her!

hmmmmm… I notice a trend for pump users on this thread….
How do the pumps and implants hold up to trail centres and general singletrack and DH duties? or do you not wear them when riding?

so far my pump has survived 3 crashes that have broken ribs, 1 crash that damaged ankle ligaments, 1 crash that required shoulder surgery, been dropped several times and stood on, pump is not in a protective cover of any sorts and is always in one of the pockets on my shorts, test kit is in another so I would say they are pretty tough, there are various straps and holders available to position the pump out of harms way and also to protect it but I haven’t bothered with any yet. My riding is general cross country and trail centre.

I had a staffie, best dog I or the family ever owned, when my eldest son was born the dog, whilst never left alone with my son, was as gentle as could be, even as my son grew to be a toddler the dog was ALWAYS on the side of the child, when playing with my son on the floor the dog would always let me know if he thought my playfulness was too much for my son, dog slept outside my sons bedroom door so from personal experience with one particular dog I do not believe staffies to be bad dogs, would definitely have another if circumstances would permit ownership of a dog.

m always curious to read about cyclists findings with pumps as I’d consider them invasive and a permanent reminder that I am indeed diabetic.

This is the only downside I have found with a pump is the constant reminder, however, the pros (for me) have far outweighed this.

Type 1 for 36 years here, pump user for the last 4. Have done the last 7 mountain mayhems, pump has helped no end with control both generally and with mtb’ing, helps enormously with my phenomenon of blood sugar rising dramatically immediately after exercise and staying high for several hours and then plummeting overnight, the ability to make minute adjustments to your basal and bolus levels is a god send in my opinion, changes as little as 0.05u/hr and the ability to change this rate every 1/2hr can make so much difference, does take a bit of effort to get the best from a pump but it has revolutionised my control. My normal working week involves 7 basal rate changes during the day to effectively flat line my blood sugars, also use differing temporary basal rates depending on the type of ride, proper uppy downy mtb stuff requires a lower basal setting than a more evenly paced canal/lane kind of ride. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions.

Can’t be bothered to read all the thread but has anyone suggested that if we don’t eat meat then we will all start smelling awful, as all vegans/vegetablists do*

I use 2.4 front and rear on a 5, great for everything apart from proper mud, can be sensitive to pressure though, a few psi here and there make a lot of difference, as above they roll really well even at low pressure and grip is brilliant in most conditions.

Since the lower leg service the bike has done over 70km so hopefully the oil has circulated through the damper, maybe need to change to correct weight oil and see if that makes a difference.

    Cheers PP

When I say a lot of oil, there was a lot more than in my Fox forks, forks were left on bike with bike upside down, undid the nuts and lifted lowers up and off, as I did there was quite a bit of oil leaked on to the floor, would guess at around 10mls, the RS site says to add 15mls when doing a lower leg service so I guessed the amount that came out was expected, if none should leak why would you add more when refitting lowers?

Probably the ‘high-compression’ down/up dip on the last section before you ride back to the centre..?

May well have been, when I got back to the car park the O ring was around 5mm from the brace and there were dust marks just below it so around 130-135mm of travel used on 140mm forks, pretty impressed that I achieved that without feeling like I was going to die 😀

Only great if the delivery company updates properly or actually carries out the last update (DPD particularly useless), still waiting for parcel that was due yesterday, updated the site after 7pm last night to say they couldn’t find my address (ring me then you have my mobile!!) out for delivery again today, due between 8 and 12, still waiting, they used to be very good but the last 3 parcels delivered by them have been an absolute nightmare, will not be shopping with anyone that uses them in the future, really poor service.

Aesthetics are irrelevant (ride a 5 😆 ) in my opinion, something that always works, needs a wipe down and grease once a year outweighs anything else.

Apart from the stem issue, you need to relook at your logo valve alignment, rear tyre and front tyre are not aligned, rear needs to be sorted as valve not central to logo 😳

Just got identical cover for £200 less than my M&S renewal price with Shielas Wheels of all people, also got £45 cashback going through quidco, rang M&S and they can only alter the type of cover or your excess to alter the price, they dont do price match so they couldn’t help me, I used my renewal details on the price comparison sites and got dozens of quotes from different insurers with identical cover to my existing M&S policy for a lower premium, seems that you get nothing for loyalty now.

I found them ok in most mud conditions but not proper quagmire stuff, also find them very sensitive to pressure, 16st and run 22/26 F/R on a full suss, 2.4 F & R.

I have one of the ultimateaddons ones for my galaxy s2, am a little disappointed as it seems to allow water in through the joint between the screen cover and surround which then causes the screen to not work on the phone, nice and robust other than that and has handled several crashes, like the look of the Blackburn one above, nice and simple
