Large automotive OEM, all pregnant people told not to come in from today, board meeting being held today and awaiting further information that was promised throughout the day. I am classed as high risk according to the NHS due to long term medical condition so preparing for the joy of 12 weeks WFH.

I think the supermarket delivery services will be put under quite a bit of pressure if a lot of people suddenly decide or get told to head home and stay there. Whether they will be able to provide a reliable service, particularly if their pickers/drivers also head home, is an interesting question.

Interestingly we did our usual delivery order last night and usually can pick any delivery slot we like across the weekend. No delivery slots available at all Friday, saturday and Sunday and also no click and collect available Friday or Saturday. usual items ordered and out of stock was toilet roll and sugar.

I’ve had daily emails since the possible threat was recognised

Maybe just Worcestershire then as they definitely have had nothing.

This may not be the correct thread but here goes anyway: I keep hearing adverts on the radio telling me the government and NHS are well prepared to combat coronavirus, why then have public health not had any bulletins or information on how to advise clients regarding coronavirus? This doesn’t seem to back up the adverts.

My take on this is hopefully things will change for new developments etc where things are built where there is less risk of flooding etc, minimum height above water courses. Also, flood defences in my view just pass the problem further downstream, there needs to be proper flood plains to take the excess water away, not farmland but genuine flood plains.

F31 330d xDrive with remap to 290bhp averaging 42.6mpg over the 40,000 miles I have had it, never run eco mode, sport mode for general driving and sport mode and sport mode on gearbox to make progress so quite pleased with the mpg overall, also pleased that I have managed 35k on a set of tyres that still have 2mm of tread depth, will be changed this weekend.

Until someone starts taking this seriously it will unfortunately continue. Arrests, life bans, games being abandoned, clubs losing points, matches behind closed doors etc should be implemented in my view. As soon as the majority get short changed by the minority things may change, too many people ignore it but if 10s of thousands start losing their saturday afternoon entertainment because of some idiots these idiots will soon be found out and the authorities can then apply the necessary justice to them.

My boys are 22 and 20 and this year we will still have fake snow on the door step, FC’s magic key on the door handles, a carrot on the doorstep with a bite out of it, a dirty boot print in the hall and a trail of FC’s magic dust from the front door to their presents in the lounge, keeps some fun at this time of year and they both go along with it. We have never admitted anything to our boys and even now when asked we just say ‘if you don’t believe…’
Too much rubbish going on in the world to stop having some fun and Christmas is as good a time as any to do that.

If striking gets results then it’s the thing to do. I don’t understand why the British way is to grumble about injustice but not fight for it. If it weren’t inconveniencing people then it wouldn’t be an effective strike – kick up a stink, make a fuss, save your pension. Job jobbed

I agree, however the union membership where I work is a massive minority, the unions negotiate all the terms and conditions for the staff but the vast majority of staff are non union, striking to get a result would not be as effective as it would be similar to the average absenteeism that the company deals with every day.

Just my twopenneth but after he has had his acoustic kit for a while have a check with the neighbours, what may have seemed ok at the start may now have changed, we were lucky when our son was learning as we had a spare room and covered the walls in old egg trays (does make a massive difference) and he mostly practiced when the neighbours were out and never later than 7pm, everyone was still ok after 6 months and never bothered on the occasions his band used our lounge as a practice room.

Don’t worry there’s still JLR (owned by TATA this week) which will no doubt eventually end up just sticking EV kit from other companies (such as Tesla) in an overpriced Chassis…

JLR joint venture with BMW on EV powertrains

Watch this space for the JLR BEV’s coming to a dealership near you…

    @fasthaggis

yep thats the one, got stopped by one at 2am on a Monday morning whilst travelling at <cough>100mph<cough>. Whilst I know this is unacceptable, the fact that the police car had tailled me with no lights on on an unlit road seemed a bigger issue to me. As I indicated for the next exit his headlights appeared about 20m off my rear bumper and he had the pleasure of telling me that he had been doing 130 to catch me. Anyways that was 28yrs ago and I still think they look cool.

This will be a right cluster **** of an election, would be interesting to see if all the remainers from the original referendum vote lib dems and any leavers that have changed their minds also do, Libdems could muster 50% of the vote but still fail to win the election due to how our voting systems work, i honestly believe that unfortunately moptop johnson will win and the country will be screwed beyond belief when the brexit deal gets agreed, a real case of careful what you wish for…

My test strips have been reduced from 2 boxes to 1, my insulin has been reduced from 10 vials to 5, I am challenged every time I order a prescription to change my test meter and strips to an alternative that is cheaper. I am not sure it is anything to do with supply but GP’s managing stricter budgets.

At work we have rows of cubicles in a non gender specific toilet area, each cubicle has a toilet, a sanitary bin, a sink, a mirror, paper towels and hand wash. Lots of grumbling about it by some but seems to work ok.

Are winters really required in most of the UK? I run Goodyear F1 asymmetrics all year round, 280bhp x-drive and no issues as yet, coped fine getting me around in the snow we had last winter, work brilliant in the wet and after 30k miles still have 3mm on the fronts and 4mm on the rears so have worn well.

Which NHS trusts are you under as mine (Worcestershire) wont fund CGM? Cost seems to be everything to them as my GP’s keep suggesting I change meter and test strips to a cheaper variant even tho the cheaper versions do not communicate with the pump, I have been on a pump for 10yrs and wouldn’t give it up for anything but would like that additional improvement over my control that CGM would give vs finger prick testing 5-7 times per day.

More capable off road than many are giving credit, billed as most capable land rover ever. During testing in the middle east it did drive straight over the dunes that the land cruisers could not get to the top of so deserves some credit. Target customer is also probably not the same demographic as original defender.

    Shit

Never known a morale so low considering the size of the company, lost a huge amount of people earlier this year and its constantly jump higher, run faster mentality from those in power.

A camera system is far more flexible, can use different magnifications to suit different situations, be more easily angled so you can use the mirrors to see a wider field of view for parking or other situations, be tied up with other sensors to highlight objects like cyclists, that would normally be in your blind spot.

We have had one in at work, the rear vision with the cameras actually has much larger blind spots than a mirror, there is limited adjustment with them and the screen on the door inner takes a long time to adjust to its perspective, also, having used mirrors for 30+ years of driving looking somewhere different takes a while to get used to.
