Well I’m currently trying to come up with ideas why I shouldn’t buy the KTM. Winters on it’s way & our roads suck! are the 2 best so far ,closly followed by your a fkn idiot on a motorcycle : ) That 1 should probably be at the top of the list.

I gave up bikes @ 35 & have not really missed them at all , kinda weird as I absolutely lived for them since I was a teenager. Been semi interested in an XR 400 for a bit but the prices people are asking for them is a joke & I don’t care how great the classic air cooled traily is I aint forking 2k + for a 20 year old bike.

However recently these have caught my eye , I think it looks the dogs & there is some bargains out there 3k for something a year old with a few hundred miles is possible.

That was another thing I really liked about Vallnord , there seemed to be quite a few ladies tearing it up.

I recommend you dont spend 5 times as much , this is availlible in quite a few different labels (mines a wolf dakota £279 3 month ago from amazon).

It’s a pretty decsent machine for hobby type use & noise is not an issue with it. Like I say at least 4 different manufacturers sell this machine. Wolf ,Burisch , Draper & cant remember the 4th : )

Owner of a Murex tradesmig 251 , Esab Rebel 215i , Draper 160T dc tig here , all good advice above but I will add get a decent respirator & filters. Dont breath that s##t in , Tigging stainless steel is great fun however breathing in Hexavalent chromium isnt. As for stick welding , nasty!

So that’s what it was! (Just googled it)

I had one of these about 1.5yrs ago driving back from a stressfull welding job. Started as a small blob just out of centre vision & grew substantialy larger over 5 mins or so , kalidescopey diamond type sparkles round the edges of the hazey blob. Luckily I was passing a hospital & pulled in as I thought I was having a stroke!

I pat my shants big time when my vision started blacking out , by the time I was seen to it had cleared & occular migrane was mentioned , but I never looked it up for fear of a terminal google diagnosis : )

Often wondered if it was a T.I.A , another mystery solved by the STW colective.

Give the back of the alt in the centre a hefty tap with a hammer , some times you can get the brushes to contact better & go for a bit longer , I’ve done this quite a lot in my line of work.

Yup with comedic timing , 2 days after I posted above the , very type I thought were not about here bit me on my ear (outer edge)! 1 swollen & extremly stupid looking ear & bloody itchy too , it was bloody hot & they were swarming around & landing on my dark coloured works van that was parked on a shore at the high tide area.

They were not like our normal clegs , more greeny coloured.

What I always knew as clegs are more like a smaller daddy long legs , they also bite & tend to bring out swelling on me like an egg. I dont think we get these horse flys on Skye , but at Coulags a few weeks ago these were prevelent , I didnt recognise them & thought they looked like sort of Hover fly.

    Thankfully no bites were recieved.

Just remeber to remove & get in behind the seals with an allen key that is a good fit, scrape round the seal reccess/seat to clear out alloy furry corrosion & crud that pushes the seal tighter on the piston.

    Really important.

On my trip to Vallnord recently I had Uberbike sintered in the front & Shimano sintered/finned in the rear. I know it’s not a totaly fair comparison but..

The Uberbikes were far more consistant in feel & power after 12km of commencal flow, now I have some very dark coloured discs :  )

Got 4 sets of Race matrix to try next but I have found their sintereds brilliant in wet & dry , thought I had the dreaded leaky caliper death squeal before useing them. Now Silencio!

I waited over 2 weeks for a tyre & emailed them to cancel it , the next day @ 3.30pm they replied to say it was to late as it had been sent out , @ 5.10pm they emailed me to say it had been dispatched.

I just kept it but thought it seemed a bit underhand perhaps , or perhaps I’m being unreasonable ?

Yup a few of the scrotes up our neck of the woods have jumped on the bandwagon, terrible.

Of course when i use to flick the kill switch off , while on overrun on my cbr6 & flick it back on the resulting gunshot was highly amusing.

I get wrist tendon issues now & again , usually after lots of mash hammer & big spanner jobs , I was shown a remedy by a nice Lady who used to treat my S I joint disfuntion. I use a lacrose ball & roll up & down the tendon/sheath on my forearms with as much pressure as I can stand (it hurts a bit) , depending where the discomfort is , there are a couple of different locations I get issues with. It works for me every time.

I’m not saying it’s going to work for you , just that I got a remedy that worked from someone who was not strictly a medical professional.

I also use these on big days , they fill your gloves up a fair bit though but I’ve used them for years on various handlebared machines.
