Dear lord I seem to have either lived or worked in most of the northern towns or welsh ones,

in no order places where I have been concerned for my well being,
ashfield flats rochdale….in general rochdale really
    stoops estate Burnley
several of the welsh pit towns and places like Llandovery, Lampeter, St Dogmals in some very anti English establishments
    Keighley…….oh lord
Lancashire Hill Stockport…. more so than Brinnington

Hebden Bridge when I suggested that it was not as good as people thought!

have a look at some of the gym jones endurance exercises, cross fit exercises and if possible look at the spinning classes and boxing, done correctly boxing is a incredible exercise.
I would strongly stay away from the exercise bike and look at the nordic skier and rowing machines, the rower is the best exercise machine there is, done correctly with good form, even the stair climber can be of benefit.
Squats when done properly are an excellent exercise but most people do them incorrectly and have too much weight on the bar with bad form, as with all weights slow and controlled movements through the full range is what you are looking for. Use dumbells as well for good all round strength, get the instructors to guide you, as BWD says think about what you want, tailor the exercises according but i would suggets a basic set of routines then develop. Aviod protien shakes and eat a good balanced diet, genetics play a huge part in muscle growth and shape. I would suggest you need to look at lean effective muscle, see Marvin Hagler from the boxing world 1984 period rather than bulk, remember enjoy, and be patient. :D

sorry jimmer co not agree some 4 inch bikes are far better as do it all than some 6 inch travel freeride bikes, quality of travel is more important than anything else. IMHO the change in more relaxed angles are one of the biggest improvements in the mountain bike world.

I went the same way from long travel bikes buillts/turners/intense/ to very xc yeti asr sl, hated it with a passion as stated above too twitchy skittish, got used to it but never happy. I would strongly recommend you look at the current crop of 125 to 140 mm bikes, i went for a blur lt but was tempted by chumbas, knolly endo, santa cruz, ventana, turner and the killer deals on Mavericks having ridden aML7.5 for a week in scotland at the trail centres a stunning uk bike but i fell between sizes. Most of these bikes can be built 27 to 30 lbs and will do the all dayers in the lakes to enduro racing and xc if you do not want to win.

Muddbunnies Riding Club is a not for profit society, that helps to promote women in the sport of mountain biking. Our goal is to see more women safely enjoying this wonderfully addictive sport. The club is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who thrive on the helping each other meet and exceed their own expectations on and off the bike.

Got Louise FR, Louise Bats and Martas…….simply the best and I have used hope hayes shimano formula of various flavours, louise are my faves. Bed the pads in properly and they last an age, dn't and gone in less than one ride. Modulation the bet, FAFstuff at the best, bleeding is a pain but took them to LBS this time.
One of the best buys you can get :D

Aspet is very good saw the tour there a few years back, pryactif again brilliant company bit further down the road from luchon. I would recommend having a go by yourself book a gite and follow some of the VTT and trails it is both fascinating and frustrating but brill. AQR are really really good as I said before.

where are you thinkning as it is a longe range, been to

Basque country/Biarittz, good mixture of stuff perhaps we did not find the best trails but now has a company think they will be featured in the singletrack next edition. Good moutains with ability to ride to beach and swim, when we did this trip family was young

Luchon area, can highly recommend AQR and there are some great road climbs as well. Going 2010 for a week, yeah. High mountains lush singletrack good maps and lift if required

Pryenees orientales rode this prior to the company altitude adventures opened up, stunning area and great singletrack.

Prades area fab fab fab, last big moutain with great trails and friendly local club see vtt prades or prades 66 for trails.

We tend to take a map and ride where we think is best so a bit hit and miss, used AQR for guiding tremendous peopel, quality and guiding.

Other areas Ax le therme and Foix.

Personally the pryenees are better than the alps, i just like the vibe more.

    Enjoy

Thanks for the replies, we have had dogs before and have been without one for 16 months, we line 5 mins walk from fields and moors so not bad and 400 yards from a park.
Intresting as we took him to puppy class last night far far more intrested in humans than dogs……….very wary and then snappy and then literally bored of them.
Plays with toys for ages happily, on the moors really good bar grouse freaking him out.
Exercise is a good point as getting the right level seems hard as he flys on the downs and trudges the ups, currently 30 min in the morning, 30mins play at lunch and then upto 45 mins moor/field walk with some days as more of a saunter than a walk.
Training wise possibly the easiest we have ever had, really eager to learn and very receptive.
but loves to try and chase cars, got over nipping us but still likes to 'soft chew' in play, when running tries to bite/nips legs and veers in front almost to trip you up…gotta work on that…..gets beaten up by the cat!

Been a few times agreed that it has some good flowy bits and one little steep climb, but the logs are the worst outside NF at grizedale still have the mental scars from that one…………I think gisburn woodwork far better but llandegla has some good sections, compared to scotland very tame.

Had one as when i was growing up, fierce temper, attacked and harmed several burglars over the decade, needed lots of exercise they are a working dog, totally devoted to my mum but good with us, coat wise went to be groomed…in the 70s basically shaved usually by the guy who cut our hair…………..so coat wise really easy, seem to remember the sensitive skin. Great little dogs but need exercise and a firm hand to keep them in check.

Got a 205 and just had to send it togarmin for a new internals as the LED was not showing would not reset and so on
£48 to have a new unit and be refurbished awaiting its return. I used a geko most of last year and found that to be a s good as the 205 or better by had trouble uploading info. Like the 205 for ease of use and info is enough for me, 305 seems to be a bit better in spec.

BD……nearly….add in consumerism, male repression, socitial norms subjegating the natural world and we are getting somewhere! :D
Intresting point though it can be argued all gangster films are homo-erotic and deal with sexual repression?!? 8O

    CAnnot think of the title
Viggo Mortensen/Vincent Cassell in London russian gangs, fight scene in sauna…..David Lynch film………………?????

you are talking italy right……..if so appenines, siblini national park are less than 1 hr away italian driving, serious mountains with some great trails real undiscovered singletrack, big climbs and poor maps :D. :? Stayed in Sulmona region and L'Aqulia sadly devasted by earthquakes but great mountain range, used shepards paths in the Abruzzo region, so in the Marche region there should be the same. I think Clorophilia was filmed there agreed that the cost is flat and boring but the regions of Marche and Abruzzo regularly host Giro d'italia races as mountain stages.
    Take the mountain bike.

    Long good friday…..bob hoskins/helen mirren……
    Get carter
    Sexy Beast
the cook, the thief his wife and her lover

lock stock is a poor attempt at a film poor characters poor acting poor story poor direction and spawned minions of nethanderal loving mockneys. all the above are true films with often Shakespearen qualities.
