Good question am I enjoying my riding…………

no I feel stagnated, underskilled and slow

no just coming back from injury due to poor technique and trying to get fit

yes had a week in france riding :D

jhw great i will try that re jumping……spds wreck what is left of me knees.

been on one skills day a 1 to 2 so that was tremendous, easy when you are there on some more tech harder when you are by yourself

all of above but add fell running, the down bits are akin to moutain biking especially if you are with real fell runners, legs and arms whirling really good fun.

not a bike story but guy broke into neighbours car,10.45 sat night 01 ford focus, i politely went out and ask him what he was doing………..he took his head out of the window and told me where to go and carried on…………..long story short….scuffle, bit of a chase, scuffle aprehended him, police came eventually I was right royally told off in front of the thief……….local bobby took me on one side and said should not have done it but well done. Told off by neighbours and wife, guy got community service. Intrestingly as the chase unfurled we passed a few people who did not help one bit and i am shouting thief and all.
I was embarressed/damaged male pride that in the first scuffle when i hit him he got up……he was angry I broke his mobile phone and ripped his tracksuit.
all in all I would do it again

Maverick ML8.sorry but I looked at the canfields, great price but was not sure on the sizing had a yeti asr sl never really liked it, not over impressed with its climbing nor descending especially as it weighed 24/25lbs, and I am hoping to get my ml8 into the 28/29lb range with nothing too silly or expensive. Suspension wise the ML8 is the best climbing bike i have owned it will literally winch its way to the top of any climb, all its energy seems to go forward, downhill great for me solid stable and supple but I am not a downhiller in fact incompedent is the best description but i try. Cannot comment on the mojo but they look fab yet seem expensive.
Mavs are unloved and fugly to some for me it does the job, dirt described it as a fantastic forest bike, bargin price at the moment.

reading this with intrest as I look at weight loss for rider and bike for the summer enduros but this is last 2 years experience, 10 mile course with a 4 mile climb and then 2 x 1 mile steep climbs, rider weight 13.5 stone(currently 14.5)body fat about 18% maybe a bit more all using a garmin gps. bikes all times within one week of each other

    24lb yeti asl 2.1 racing ralph time 1hr 03m 28

    28 maverick 2.3/2.1 maxxis ignators 1 hr 03 05

35 lb turner rfx horst link 2.35 blue groove/2.25 maxxis advatages 1.03.35

Rider condition 35 lb bike rough, left a lung somewhere, 24 breathing and okay 28lbs good

point for me yeti was nervy on the downs or i was……..turner made loads of time on the downs stuck in on the climb, maverick great compromise.

Lesson for me I am not the greatest or quickest rider especially on the downs so a bit more weight helped, target weight for me is 28/29lb with out getting silly with the money.

Light strong cheap choose 2 still is the motto.

not really the surly was about the best followed by the Nike limited ed lance one. Ground effect are great but are a combination mix.
Walking the dog though I use a …as recommended by MBUK…M and S white granddad one….i would not ride in it
Mind you try TK MAxx..they often have some deals if you are lucky ir cotswolds

i have had several merino wool tops, the worst was HOwies a dire piece of tea towel, endura and konas both turned to felt, 1 x nike shrunk so now fits the cat, 1 x nike brilliant 1 x surly great but suddenly started with holes, 2 x groundeffect from last century possibly the best but a poly wool mix
    BUT
ask yourself why you want wool….if you a sweater they will be sodden within a mile they will stay warm if you are moving, no smell but you still get the salt stains…..nice……… personally as a sweat bucket i will not bother again, sticking to man made and keep washing them! :D

lol at the car analogy……he is a vw golf gt tdi driver, so I suppose the bike needs to reflect that……practical but with a bit of grunt!

He is not a fashion victim but is bored of the beard and sandals tag, his driver is the bike will last him a decade and so a boutique brand will last longer……….i am unconvienced, nothing to do where the bike is made all bikes can fail guessing it is the support one gets that is the differnce, Turners seem great but ellsworth patchy, giant seem good.
So is all down to the marketing hype?
