    Thanks for the replies all.

ahsat – just been discussing the name of the forum over dinner with SO and the distraction it lends to the space for women to discuss things and share knowledge, and totally it has been a has been a advocate for change and inclusion in MTB. SO has been riding since the early 1990’s and daughters through the late 90’s onwards and it shall we say, has been, and remains a interesting journey for them as women in mountain biking.

John 1984 – thanks for the picture – helpful.

Cheers re mtbc, and she goes in there and has a intense dislike for the name…as do my daughter’s…Juliana seems to be leading the way
Bird seems to be large but will revisit same with transition.
Yeti is probably more than she want to pay but a brand I have owned a few of.

Let’s leave the canyons out of this on the grounds that the suspension is more xc racer then xc fells and moors.

G8 plus or the g5? Mainly wanted for camera.
    What would you recommend?

It is a blended repair, the seller is not anyone we know, frame is full suspension.

I still say no , as price is highish but it is from a boutique brand who no longer make bikes.

We just bought a appoint version and whilst ok the buffalo is surprisingly better cut, alpkit will be returned and a buffalo ordered.
I have two Montane extreme jackets going in classifieds soon, large barely used but too small for me and xl which is new which is too large….

As BWD says different compounds and as always with BWD a really knowledge and informative insight, I stopped using traditional hiking or alpine boots as I do nothing now needing crampons and found for wet moors and fells that I was not gaining anything apart from not enough grip, pretty much using Adidas terras Skywalker’s for everything, grippy on rock and lugs for wet grass and high enough for misplaced bog steps.

Black diamond not alpkit… several failed on us.

Get a stainless steel rather than aluminium….
    A) we all know steel is real
    B) it does give a better taste

We tend use a medium dark roast rather than a espresso.

Went with a DT Swiss set up (350 front and 240 rear with 36 t ratchet upgrade) on 30mm rims…I am no longer a fan of 19 or 21 mm rim …..total cost just slightly more than hope pro 4 rear wheel.

30 mm rims and agree, DT Swiss but going to upgrade 18t to 36t.

Hopefully the user name gives it away but ex Dally owner here, ours loved riding walking running and eating any rotten carcass going….well eating…. waiting on a litter to be born on 9th November for our next one hopefully.
Ours have been great biking dogs but it was a learnt behaviour after first one was
    A) run over after cutting in front of the bike….alll ran behind the bike after
    B) got lost chasing something…..he was devastated being lost.
Brodie looks brilliant! Good luck and enjoy

I would suggest look at the cut, a lot of jackets are shorter for a climbing harness or for skiing, if you are walking to the pub a slightly longer cut I would suggest is better simply as the rain with not drench your jeans around your pockets or zipper.
Can recommend the decathlon option if it fits, used mine for walking and mountain bike.

PS I got a regatta waterproof coat (5,000 mm) with a fleece lined for 19.99 in gaynor sports couple of years back – just as a cheap jacket to throw on after biking – survived two years of abuse, waterproof warm and looks good as a black parka can!

For years I had a pair of raichle goretex walking boots mid cut, so just below the ankle, way better in waterproof Ness, pedal grip and walking grip than any 5.10 I have owned, worn with merino wool socks so warm.
Just bought some dolomite boots from rock and run to try, in orange not the ones above, tried some keen ventures briefly as the outr split quickly from riding and found the sole compound to hard for the pins on the pedal.
Hate sealskin socks, that filled with water and I almost froze , hate them but tried a second pair of knee-length ones still got a bag of water and in addition felt like the top were cutting my legs off.

Five tens have been shocking forme (impacts, guides, freeride including s leatherpair rs with primaloft) they all have taken steps to dry, soles are crap in mud. Ideabeing let the water drain out but never seemed to work!

    stooge fat bike

I have a stooge ti fat bike, adore it when fit and Hale, handles brilliantly, set some descent times for me on it, makes me laugh and on a trial centre is really capable.
Downside well the attention….and witty roadie jokes… It handles rock gardens well but it still fatigue you over a day.
Speed on the road get the tyres rolling and it is fine – running a 30t front and 10- 42 rear, always nice to overtake a roadie and see them speed up PAST you

Love it and makes me smile.

Same as molgrips had a Fisher cake, bought mainly on the recommendation of a STW review and was a replacement for a stolen bike so limited option….. horrible thing, horrid descender horrendous climber.
Sold it for a Maverick ml7.5 off a review by Mike Ferrentino and it was ace if fugly.

Hated Fisher bikes but Gary had some interesting ideas

Wouldn’t it just be rather boring? Have you considered taking up road cycling?

Well…..no….due to my neck and back being FUBAR but still wanting to ride and try something so I can cycle more than once every ten days, road bikes aggravate my conditions beyond belief but thanks for making me contemplate my options.

Cheers for the replies and insight
