I bought some deores for my IH sunday which I will be taking to Whistler also. Im probably being a cheapskate but I think they will be good enough. For 65 quid for the set they were a bargain!

I’ve had my spitfire since Oct. Only thing that’s starting to go as far as I’m aware are the CC shock bushings, there’s a little play when you lift the bike up. But I’m leaving it for now.

Keith at banshee said most of the problems with bearings wearing quickly was because people try to clean them too much. He said he just waits for mud to dry and brushes it off, which is good because my bike is rarely never clean.

Im a bit out of the loop these days, Id say an old pearl export will be fairly cheap and a good kit. They take a beating (ha!) and still last.

Seeing pics of drums has me all nostalgic from 6 or 7 years back. I may have to dig some photos of my kits 🙂

blacks might feel a bit rough, but you will be fine on that bike.

I follow the fireroad that runs alongside the official climb. I dont mind the fireroad climb to be honest. 1st part is steep loose stuff. So while I can get up it, I normally push up this small part as it wastes too much energy for me.

I think Ive managed 5 climbs before and Im about average fitness.

Having said that, I did 4 this weekend and was finished on the last run! 🙂

I go there fairly often. You will be fine on the hardtail. The blacks are a bit rougher than the rest so might be hard work but still do-able.

Full face is a personal choice, lots of people wear them there and lots just wear normal trail lids.

If you have one Id take it as there is no reason not to if your uplifting. If not you will be fine with normal lid.

    Have fun!

I did hear somewhere that the climach-x final descent is closed due to forest operations just fyi.

Nice, same as mine. Raw in my opinion is the best colour they do. 🙂

Still haven’t got the db inline feeling perfect. In fact it may actually be loosing air so its something to potentially keep an eye on also.

    Enjoy!

Maybe contact Ison distribution to see if they could send a demo bike to your dealer?

edit: just read your post properly, nvm.

Mine are both open all the time, for one very good reason. I am guaranteed to leave them in climb mode for descending. Every time.

Overclockers always been good for me. Good overclocked MB bundles also.

and most importantly, very good customer service.

I don’t have any experience in selling/bike shops though 🙁

Id happily be a lift operator, I think. The reason a resort could be tempting as they can offer accommodation with a job (not for free obviously) so that would be a lot easier, probably one of the smaller places ie not Whistler. A friend of mine has mentioned Kelowna,Vernon, Nelson and Invermere as good places.

@whatnobeer – mind if I send you a few emails? needs some questions answered!

Are you sharing accommodation with anyone? Is it possible to live on your own with a minimum wage paid job?

@bearbackbiking – currently a warehouse worker. Not exactly a dream job but I never really had an idea of one really.

I mean I have no set place of where to go and work/live, I just figured a resort would be the easiest to combine everything. Although maybe not the living part after what has been said!

I know someone who is currently living in Victoria, but Im not sure thats the best place to go.

I bought a used DH bike a few months back (IH sunday) for the purpose of a holiday next year which will be 2 weeks in a bike park. Was told by nearly everyone that it will be more forgiving in the bike park for 2 weeks.

I will admit though that I haven’t managed to get out on it enough so far, which is bad because it still feels very different to my trail bike so I need to be comfortable on it by next summer.

Because it didn’t cost too much, Im not too bothered if it doesn’t get used a lot though.

    so, yes get one.

Im looking at the IEC program, which entitles you to live and work in Canada for 1 year. Oh yeah I realize that the lift accessed biking is a no go in winter, I just meant XC stuff lower down the mountains.

I just figured a job in a resort would be easiest to come by. BC is so huge its difficult to know where to start looking!

Got one in the wardrobe somewhere, will see if I can find it later! I mean I’m 25 now, but wore one when I was 12-17 or thereabouts.

Yes I was extremely cool and wore a denim jacket over my school uniform. Metal power.

I remember when I started the line I was feeling tired so should have stopped to rest for a few mins but I didn’t, thus the mtb biking gods punished me and my poor skillz.

A470 is good because it has different size tables, some I could clear and some I couldn’t. Great to practice on though.

They have definitely re done that kicker you’re on about too.

@bitterlemon – your rune is sweet mate, love that colour. Crash wasn’t too bad, just a bit sore. Main thing is nothing broken so can keep riding!

pedlad – pics or it doesn’t exist. 😛

@chiefgrooveguru – so do you not run anything to protect and just leave as is?

I was at BPW on sat, I actually crashed pretty damn hard on the jump line, rebound set too high, bucked off on the down slope, that one hurt alot. It reminded me I need to dial in the inline shock a little!

I saw another guy on an orange rune. I gave him the nod of approval 😉

Anbody created something to protect the linkage from mud? Or what are you guys cleaning the linkage with? If there is 1 bad point, its that the bearings are completely exposed to the welsh weather 🙂

I’ve been on paypal for years, haven’t sold much, but had people send money no problem. Maybe because its over a certain amount?

The more I think about it, what a ridiculous system they’ve put in place. 1 or 2 days maybe, but 21?! Im currently selling a frame but its made me think twice now about how I want payment if its going to be 21 days for before receiving money.

I didn’t sell it on ebay, it was on here. And they just paid via PayPal. So there’s no feedback to be given?

The demo one I rode was the stealth. Its really nice, but I just preferred the raw one.

out of interest, what makes you like the mint green one over the others? I dont really like it myself, everyone’s tastes are different though. 🙂

I have them, the rear hub bearings from new were absolute shite. About 2 months riding and they were done. Replaced in June and still going so your probably right about the grease.

Just built it about 2 weeks ago. Superb. Probably should ditch 2.5 dual plys but Im too lazy.

Only thing with the cane creek shock is that I’m not someone who likes to mess around with loads of settings to get it perfect. So at the moment it feels ok at stock settings. I liked the raw colour best this year, I was very lucky to get it though as there are hardly any in the country (due next year) which my LBS was going to have as a demo bike but they said I could have it. 😀

    Anyway:

Climb switch does stiffen things up for me, but I leave it fully open now mostly because I always forget and leave it in climb mode. the same with fork lockouts so I almost always leave it open.

As for my inline, I checked that the LSR was still actually working and its all good. The shock feels ok at the moment in more or less the stock banshee tune so going to leave it there for a bit.

bit late with this, but got it built up last week. Needs a few adjustments but its amazing.

Apologies for the terrible phone pic!

I bought a Heckler about 6 months ago, best bike I’ve owned, it’s just rapid, although slightly scary because you can just chuck it about like a big BMX. Afan is my local trail centre, and I’ve yet to see another one, and I ride there a lot. Plus the bike is simple, I’ve had no problems mechanically, it just works and is very, very good fun.

Your not the only one  I ride there quite a lot on my heckler, up until last week when I bought a new frame.

Heckler was nice and lively, but after sitting on a few different bikes it was too short for me and my back would ache after a while.

the downside now is its taking a little adjustment to get used to a slightly bigger bike!

I wouldn’t say SC are stupidly expensive frames, its about the going rate for most of the big companies. (excluding the direct order ones)

I contacted cane creek and they said just make sure you tell them what’s happened when it next goes in for a service. other than that, ride it. So I will. 🙂

    Rick – what’s this about a recall?
