councilof10, I went straight into shooting compound 😀 (never had a go with recurve) not scary at all, but I never dry fired mine !!! although I did see it happen a few times. I did come from rifle shooting background so that may have helped.
I must admit some archers never liked it when I said things like arrow flirting, point and shoot, pull it back till it stops and shoot the dam thing 😆 .
I never bothered with the keep pulling and relese then hand behind your head follow through type thing, it had stops for a reason pull it back till it stopped then hit the trigger, simple. I know im bad 😯 but it worked

I used to flirt arrows with a compound bow national level too, packed up about 4 years ago to much time needed for training & competitions and my body & head just had enough, sticking to playing on my bikes and a bit of photoing

I have the sony a6000 + 16-55 and 55-210 kit lenses (i didnt go for the new version as im not a massive video user) Its a cracking little camera for the days when I dont want to carry my big camera canon 7d+ lenses or when I need more than my canon g12. Yes the quality isnt quite upto ‘the posh’lenses but its definatly good quality and easy enough to drive (you can get better lenses) several of the chaps at the camera club have gone over to mirrorless systems crop & full frame, I cant fault mine, the only improvement I went with was to put a wrist strap on it, I removed the eye piece rubber so i could fit it into my pocket better (it fits it to a very small bag with the other lens too) I got a spare battery just incase as its one of those constant dranage type ones but have never needed to swap over during shooting (aprox 250 shots one day) 😀

I have a small defy and love it easy to ride & comfortable( I had a medium scott speedster before and hated it, my body felt as if it had been thrashed after every ride)look for the more relaxed geometry type bikes, make sure frame is not to big

I had a choice of Pines or Cannock (i was told both good, I was going with someone who worked at go ape) we went to the Cannock one as it had longer zip wires, (and we could go for a ride after, I ride Pines a lot)
I was a brill day, dont wear your best clothes they will get dirty, I found some bits hard work but it’s definitely fun, my poor knees don’t like kneeling on hard surfaces so that was a bit hard work and my arms ached i should have let the harness take the strain but my instinct was to hold on for dear life !
Pines one was very busy today

scandal42 mine snapped in the same place (under the o ring) 🙁 I managed to repaired it 🙂 superglued the top bit back on then a bit of epoxy glue around the joint, let it dry then put o ring back on.
I also leave the bottom attached now just in case, no leaks 🙂

Derwent Bowmen meet at Darley Bridge, so the-muffin-man im thinking you must be localish, if so there are a few clubs about but in this area Derwent has the best facilities by far, If you go onto http://www.derbyshirearchers.com/links.html that gives you a list of clubs, some are better than others.
Clubs normally run a couple of beginners courses a year Derwents is soon http://derwentbowmen.co.uk/wp1/beginners-course/, but you dont have to join at that club, all the kit will be provided and normally for a short time after you join so you can decide if you do like it before you start spending money also people at clubs upgrade so there is always gook kit for sale.

I got the black tape 10mm wide ( black bike ) and just stuck 4 x 2″ strips on my rims both sides, put a couple of strips on the cranks and some on the frame and forks, works really well 🙂 http://www.moglo.co.uk/moglo_reflective_tape.htm

Yes as said above they can last along time I had 2 male ( brothers from the same batch ) not a good idea normally as they can fight, they lasted years so it is one thing to think of when getting them ie what will I be doing in 10-15 years ! one was 14yrs the other 18yrs ( there mum got to 22yrs ! )
Very easy to look after, put some hay in the little rack every day, fresh water every day if you put a bowl in they will tip it over ! I had a metal bowl that dropped into a holder on the side of the cage, water bottles with a nozzle thing that fit to the outside of the cage will be nibbled within seconds so it needs a metal holder, chinchilla food pellets again in a metal bowl in a holder on the side of the cage, they can have a treat now and again but dont over do it little bit of apple, a raisin every now and again.
2 pine wooden boxes small hole at the front and a removable lid( for cleaning out) so the could hide in them, one on the bottom of the cage one on the top shelfthis one fastened down.
The cage I made had was 1″ square weld-mesh it was about 750mm x 750 mm base the hight was 1300mm ish it had 3 pine shelves and a bigger mesh one, if you look at a cage the base has a extra bit on the bottom this is so you can slide a plastic tray or painted wooden tray of sawdust or shavings in, if cleaned out weekly they dont smell I used to scoop the shavings from their ‘pee area’ ( yes they peed in one area of the cage ) and put fresh shavings down part way through the week.
Roses tin ( other sweet tins too ) with fine sand put this in the cage for about a hour every day ( or on the floor with lots of paper ) this is what they bath in fantastic to watch 😆 start brushing them young as sometimes they dont like it one of mine hated being brushed so he only got brushed when he was sheding his fur dont be worried if you see big tufts of fur as for each folical there is 50 ish hairs so they sometimes look a bit scruffy
They are nocturnal but will come out and play anytime if they dont want to play they wont, they can do nibbling ( mine had a chunk of breze block and plumice stone to keep their teeth down ) so if you let them out be warned ! chins chew everything its their mission in life 🙂 so plastic things are a no-no in the cage and the wooden thing will need replacing every now and again.
Hope this helps a little 🙂

I went on a 1 to 1 for 2 hrs with Graham from Sherwood mountain bike instruction, I really enjoyed it lots of tweeked skills and new ones, I felt any more than 3 hours would be too much for my head / body to cope with (its a girl thing), its xc orientated too some of my friends ( girls and boys ) have been to see him too and got lots out of it 🙂 http://www.sherwoodmountainbikeinstruction.co.uk/courses the run courses at sherwood pines

I never got into drinking, it always tasted nasty, even in food I just can’t eat it, I think the bad reactions ( very sick/ bad head ) to the alcohol put me off for life, Jan 2002 was the last time I slipped up and didnt get my own drink, I wanted a lemonade some chump got me a lemonade with wine I only had a few sips it had me chucking up for Great Britain and a very bad head the next day

I love mine ( KS LEV ) you can be whizzing as fast as your little legs will go and just drop it a bit for those steep or bumpy bits when you need bike moving around room 😀 then just pop it back up, (I made a little waterproof tube thing that hangs under the seat and covers the seat post to keep the wet/mud off it)
