Can you have both
I looked into it and the clear answer was No. The constraint is the MPAN, you only have one per property and that’s been used up on the FIT. When you go to apply for your SEG on the 2nd/new array it’ll get rejected for that reason.
I heard whisper of someone somehow getting a 2nd MPAN to get round this but couldn’t see how that was feasible. I decided I couldn’t drive payback on a 2nd array regardless so just dropped it
villageidiotdanFree Memberand ICE
Strange, it seems all over the place – my renewal a fortnight back on a PHEV was maybe £30 more (£530) and then shopping around went down to £350 like for like
villageidiotdanFree Membermakes my PHEV the worst combo out there!
I have long established that, much like France, us PHEV owners are there to unite all others in their disgust for us :)
villageidiotdanFree MemberDoesn’t look like it
I think FunkyDunc was talking about the Luton car park. The answer is yes, moderately new, opened in 2019.
villageidiotdanFree MemberThey’re an interesting line up. I think many people who haven’t been in a Leaf underestimate how big it is inside so I don’t see them as unfair size wise (maybe quality but that’s a different argument). No idea on those bigger/more expensive vehicles, nearest I’d get to one is perhaps being allowed to clean it lol
I wonder how that research came up with ~20% and whether it was taking the heaviest/largest battery variant.
1villageidiotdanFree MemberFire in car park at Stavanger
Ooo, off topic but I do like Stavanger, you’re very fortunate to live in such a part of the world
villageidiotdanFree Member@simon_g. Ah yes, another counter point I’d not considered (cheap to run so lets go large). Yes, my bro somehow makes a Nissan Leaf 2015 work for his trips from Berlin to UK and we both have EV-mopeds so are very much in the same thinking re: direction of EVs should be smaller in both scale and battery.
@SirHC. Yes, not inconceivable that it’s an attempt to steer away from that subject. I can’t say around here that I notice that – the roads have always been utter bobbins, I had a lovely little Smart Roadster coupe that turned out to have wheels made of cheese, had to sell it as it couldnt handle the state of the roads and that’s 5, no 10, no 15yrs backvillageidiotdanFree MemberI’m not in the place I usually am fitness wise. I blame a full golf membership so will be rolling that down to associate member next year.
So Autumn for me is getting on my bike this AM to remind myself how much I enjoy my own little pootle in the woods just in time to not be able to rid in them again until April at best! Never have liked my gravel bike (heavy, steal, no fun) so going to get it ready and use on the many gravel tracks we have around here (West Berkshire) – it either earns it’s place in the shed or it goes
villageidiotdanFree MemberHey, on the thread about the Luton car park fire EVs were touched on. Not looking to start that argument but more on the rhetoric i’ve had from a couple of mates about the weight of EVs doing more damage to roads than ICE.
Seems there’s been a bit of research showing on average around 20% extra weight in small, medium and large categories so accepting that on face value I wonder if there’s other factors to consider?
I went looking for the obvious one but couldn’t find any research – which is that for whatever reason I assume when moving to an EV you downscale (i.e for me it would be moving from a SUV to something like a leaf). Is that a reasonable assumption?
What else? – fuel leaks/fumes damaging the surfaces? EVs being driven more conservatively than ICE due to range constraints and general chilled vibe of an EV?
villageidiotdanFree MemberIt is interesting that the point even comes up, I wonder if before ICE you’d have petrol drivers suggesting it was diesel? (too young to know if there was that divide, honest).
On subject of propaganda, it’s similar to the “EV is so heavy they cause way more damage to roads”
villageidiotdanFree MemberIt should have been an EV
How about that? – then that keeps everyone happy! /s
villageidiotdanFree Memberjoined the airfyryer brigade
@Drac. Oooh, which one’s that pls? The Ninja 9.6 dual basket? Could you share a link regardless pls – I’m weighing up replacing my busy microwave with an air fryer instead, anyone care to chip in if that’s a really bad idea pls?villageidiotdanFree MemberSorry to be slow on the reply, busy week at work. Still looking but it’s been great to get some ideas so thank you
villageidiotdanFree MemberDancing round a roast chicken and a bottle of whisky whilst off your tits on coke?
Lol, reference acknowledged – made me laugh
villageidiotdanFree MemberHaha, will do, thanks both. That’s the place that at a glance on Airbnb the accom felt very dated but in fairness I have only been looking on Airbnb so will try sunweb, vrbo and local tourist office options. Anywhere else I should be looking? – used to love Abritel.fr but they got hoovered up by Vrbo
villageidiotdanFree Member@NBT. Ironically yes, that’s why I’m on the search again, I’d booked Morillon months back but they just cancelled having sold up :(. Good shout on Flaine, will see what’s about
@tuboflard. Good call, did Verbier last time around. Feel like the guys want something new so will look at La Chanel and Nendaz, appreciatedvillageidiotdanFree MemberNow I don’t know whether the replacement microwave should just be a bog standard one and we get an air fryer too. I feel I’ve suitably missed the craze
villageidiotdanFree Member@OllyTheOp! So, other than winning Thread of the Year – what’s your decision as I’m keen to know which direction you went and how it turns out (sorry, yes, I know this is peoples lives but no reason we can’t get some entertainment ad it unfolds!)
villageidiotdanFree MemberThanks btw all that answered my “ski resort near GVA”. 2 of the guys have thrown is “ski in/out” as an essential. I’m kind of inclined to agree but limits our options. I’ve rented a 9seater van as there’s 6 of us with bags so other than not wanting to drive for hours we’re pretty free to go where we want.
I did look at Italy but every time I look at the properties I always come away thinking they’re pricy and likely to still have a 80yr old nonna sitting in the corner!
I’m really trying to avoid Avoriaz as I love the place and am there for 10 days with my fam but that’s the kind of thing I’m looking for. Myabe I have to drive to the 3 valleys
villageidiotdanFree MemberYeah, it just blew up last week and haven’t got the money to replace it this month. Missing it, may need to do the cost saving calculation for Mrs Idiot to sanction the spend. It had airfry in it too, used it a couple of times and it was distinctly “meh” so unsure if that’s airfrying for you or just a poor example of one.
villageidiotdanFree MemberUseful thread, hadn’t thought about kiln dried being worth the extra, although in our main lounge i’ve always been very pleased with how slowly our burner chews through a seasoned log if it’s on a trickle setting.
We have one in our snug and while it’s pretty inefficient we don’t really use it enough to give us the payback to consider replacing. Is it an easy job just to replace it yourself? – or is there some kind of regs to say that when you replace the burner the flume/chimney needs to be bought up to spec?
Any other ways of improving efficiency for the O,p, whats people’s experience of the little 3 blade windmills on top of a wood burner?
villageidiotdanFree MemberNo. Best case is it’s just rumours and there’s nothing going on.
Fair point. Then he can raise it to HR who can send out a strongly worded email about the damage of false gossip
villageidiotdanFree MemberYup, +1 for chvck approach. No accusation, no request for clarification or the truth. Best case he admits and you set the ultimatum that he tells his wife/your friend before you do. Worst case you are still in the “just rumours, nothing confirmed to me” and your mate gets a kick in the arse to sort his s%£* out
villageidiotdanFree MemberHave a look at obtaining a local number from a SIP provider like SIPgate and then using a SIP app (Google to find the best rated one).
So essentially you’re committing to renting a voip number with a call plan for a monthly fee. When someone phones that local number it will ring on the app on your phone whether you are. You can, if you can be bothered, also buy a Voip phone to connect to your router so that you have a “land-line”. We had this for my mother in law who wouldn’t have been able to get the idea of her land-line ringng on her mobile
villageidiotdanFree MemberHmm, just had my accom out of Geneva cancelled on me for January.
Not tied to a resort but kind of looking for close transfer from Geneva as its only a long weekend – what do people recommend pls?
Quite interested in the thread above about lower towns with a funi but the group has quite a wife spread of wealthy and, erm, me :)
villageidiotdanFree MemberThey have an Emu out back
I honest thought was one of the mechanics was an Emo and in some way that was what you looked for in a LBS
villageidiotdanFree Member@Dickyboy. Yeah, that’s always my thought on a car’s 0-60, the sort of acceleration on a 15yr old commuter motorbike
villageidiotdanFree Member@Flaperon. The FiT scheme is now closed to new applications. Existing FiT schemes have a contract to be paid for 25 years so the government have no say over the matter.
@sharkbait. It’s a fair point, I couldn’t get payback to work on either a battery or a new array so no risk here.villageidiotdanFree MemberWinrya, I’m in a similar position to yourself. I couldn’t caculate a reasonable payback on the battery but did look at my FiT administrators T&Cs and see a clause saying that I must notify [i.e. the key being not “ask”] them if I add a battery. Your call if you do, as I’m sure plenty apply the logic of let sleeping dogs lie but my view is that they have no right to say no and I wouldn’t want to get kicked off FiT on a technicality.
Are you sure you have enough excess to warrant both the solar divertor and a battery? – sorry to ask as I appreciate everyone’s situation is different but I haven’t
villageidiotdanFree MemberDoes a moped with the two wheels up front class as a trike? – as they’re about the same level of cool!
4villageidiotdanFree MemberI’m pleased as the more unappealing they make prime, the less people will have it and it introduces a nice barrier when people look to buy from them. That’s my hope/logic at least.
I used to be on hotukdeals alot, but it’s basically hotamazondeals
villageidiotdanFree Member…We’re on a little lane of 7 houses with some space at the entrance that I was thinking I’d use to put 6 plastic tubs to encourage community recycling (i.e. Stuff that can’t be kerb recycled) but not sure my neighbours immediately opposite would appreciate it.
Haven’t done much more than think about it mind you
villageidiotdanFree MemberBerkshire.
Black wheelie,
I compost at home so green wheelie is for my non-kerb plastics that I drive a skip bag at a time down to a container.
2 x green buckets. One got paper, one for glass.
1 x green bag for tin and kerbside plastic (bottles only). That’s the one I struggle with: I think that’s the delineation but need to check. Some neighbours just chuck any old plastic in.
Unofficial 3 x white pots. Crisps packets, soft plastics and plastic bottle tops that I recycle off my own back.
No eco warrior, just guilt for generating more than we should
villageidiotdanFree Member@B A Nana, why do you want to switch off Tracker pls? I assume because you feel the rates are going to rise and want to lock in a fixed deal?
villageidiotdanFree Memberthink it’s ok to lump paedophiles in with people that are LGBTQ+
I mention it because of how ludicrous it is. I think there’s enough instances already on this thread of people assuming that something said in jest is serious. I’m not sure I could make it any clearer that it wasn’t a view I agree with
villageidiotdanFree MemberI think it is very close to the SVR?
The Octopus Inteligent daily and per kw rate is pretty much 10% more than their std variable rate so that does need to be factored in if you can’t move usage away from peak.
If I were making a fair comparison I’d be tempted to compare it to the historically 30% less than their tracker rate offers , apportioning the capital outlay/opportunity cost/inflation on any solar/battery/EV investment. I appreciate that’s hard but without it the “haha it costs me 1p/mile you ICE suckers” really is meritless. Just my view
villageidiotdanFree MemberI’d appreciate it if we could all be inclusive and use the appropriate term for the sexual orientation: MAPs (Minor Attracted Persons). LGBTQ+M!
I joke but that was genuinely an angle people were trying to use at one time to legitimise this. And I agree with the poster above, there most certainly isn’t 100% of males that find 16/17/18 Yr old girls attractive – I’ve always found it a good benchmark that I’ve not quite let go of all my morals
