Red Lodge Cafe is supposed to be good… The last remaining one from when the A11 was bypassed from the village.

Actually in tears… wife looking at me gone out.

Not laughed that well for a long time… perhaps it is only funny to people who have reared goats… or maybe i’m just weird.

My inner raging biker would have wanted to storm down the outside of the line of traffic as you did… sooo satisfying.

But experience (sounds like you have had more experience than me) should have made you take the reasonable course of losing 30 seconds off your journey time and not falling victim to the ‘expected’ side swipe.

Whilst out on a bike I try to think like a lazy, fat, distracted, agressive motorist whenever I can. Also sometimes ‘would I do this in a car or on a a motorbike?’ helps too…

Sorry if it doesn’t sound very sympathetic, glad you’re not badly hurt.

‘In a Heartbeat’ by John Murphy as used in 28 days later…

Not the original though – may be a remix from a more recent film as suggested by trail rat.

Sticking stuff up your Japs eye? We’ve all done it haven’t we?

    No.

    Just No.

Give them to your local school / college.

Especially if they are the solid Pentax units of old. There are many photography students who can’t get enough hands on time on with a real SLR.

If you genuinely are not bothered too much about what you get for them then this will give you a warm feeling inside too.

Donated my old Prakticas to a school and whenever I feel like I should have kept them for posterity I just remind myself how often I actually used them…

theotherjonv is winning by some margin at the moment in the lol stakes.

    😛

Genuinely no pun intended – if I was more awake I could have written those in though I suppose…

    Of course beans…

What else? Tomatoes? They make the consistency of the mopping up juice too runny for my liking.

Oh, and black pud too (as well as the obvious components)

Not familiar with this ‘Doddy’ chap…

Could anyone give me a brief summary of why he scores so highly on the ****ometer?

Teachers are the new miners, haven’t you heard?
You get to blame someone else and ignore your own responsibility for the fact that your child is unable to read, communicate effectively or behave in public.

    +1

    Well said.

I assume you meant to replace the word ‘Teachers’ with ‘Parents’?

My ’93 IFT (with more recent groupset upgrade) recently took me to el’an back…

Interesting that although the frame was offered with suspension forks, the use of 100mm travel makes it feel like a chopper…

Clearly before Marin had come to terms with suspension corrected geometry.

Don’t rule out the more recognised brands… just because a label is mainstream doesn’t mean it’s pish.

Nobody has mentioned Glenmorangie or Glenlivet yet – they do some nice aged malts.

    For me I like different extremes for different moods / occasions;
Laphroaig, plenty of speysides, all the way through to ‘easier drinkers’ – usually something in a triangular bottle.

Everyone should have a range of tastes in the quiver…

So you were behind them? All the time? Come on, you were just pretending to be out of breath…

Bet you spent ages looking at their ‘shoes’

You can do a whole bunch of great stuff from Gwern gof Isaf. Otherwise wildcamp like flatfish said – there are some nice spots in the Ogwen area, a little forum trawling will probably get you grid references too.

    Have fun. 🙂

There is a very important issue at stake here…

    I’m not vegemitist but…

“Don’t be ridiculous Vegemite is Marmites superior on all fronts. “

This is blasphemy and you will surely go to hell billyblackheart.

I feel the need to insert a 😉 here in order to make it obvious that I am joking… newbie and all that.

Who said there would be very little surface impact?

If you read the article it tells you how big the above ground compound will be… just in case you are confused by area measurements – it’s not 100m x 100m

    😉

Motorhome over Campervan every time… We have tried both for multi week trips as well as single night stopovers and now have a Motorhome.

For the simple reasons that (as other people have already stated) you need space to move around each other when it’s rubbish weather outside and
It’s nice to have a bathroom and not have to take tha portaloo out from under the seat and find somewhere private to take it.

We have just about the smallest motorhome we could find – 17ft long with overcab bed, and it is really comfy for two adults. Reckon we could use it in more or less the same way with up to two nippers in there too…

Does the starter motor solenoid ‘click’?

Could be that the starter is jammed in the ‘engaged’ position – this happened to me on my French car.

Put it in gear and rock it back / forwards a couple of times, then try again.

    If it’s the Halfrauds run scheme then there are a couple of things to note;

Bike shops that are not Halfrauds are charged an admin fee to use ‘their’ vouchers – the bike shop will inevitably have to pass this cost on to you as an initial outlay (so they don’t lose money on the deal).
The Halfrauds scheme seems to incur a higher ‘admin fee’ than the other schemes (unless it was just the bike shop I used taking liberties)
You will not get your Halfrauds ‘freebies’ (a percentage of the overall value of the bike purchased) if you do not get a bike from Halfords 😐

However, it’s a good alternative to getting a bike on tick and the best bit is that it denies the taxman of a small amount of your wage.

    Small pleasures.

Ooh, my zolatone framed Palisades…. We used to dream of suspension forks on our paper round money…

My mate had a Girvin flexstem and our CDT projects all revolved around trying to create suspension for our fully rigid bikes…

    Where’s my pipe and slippers?

Fiat 500 Diesel – that sounds pretty modern and comfy to me.
And you’re getting 60mpg, stay put and suck it up I reckon…
Buy a new car and you don’t know what you’re getting – if it ain’t broke and all that..

    Sorry to be so boring…

For my part I commuted 80 miles a day (round trip)for three years from Buxton to Burton in a C1 and it was always more than adequate – returned better than book mpg all the time…
