Still got a tight chest, and some pains / heat in my lungs. Sats still around 97 / 98. Still moderately elevated heart rate. Still no cough.

@speedster thanks that’s good advice for us all, cheers.

Thanks speedster. Mines about 14 per min. If things get worse I’ll call someone. Not sure there is anything they can do unless you need o2. Given clean bill of health last weekend at a&e and I don’t feel particularly worse, just not better. So don’t want to call them if not necessary..

@Clink – one thing I did was buy an oxygen saturation tester for peace of mind. 20 quid from Argos next day delivery. So I know I’m OK and not to panic.

A colleague with pretty bad asthma has just recovered and is back at work after just over three weeks (pretty sick for 2, resting for the last week) so try not to worry!

I’m at coming up to two weeks of the shortness of breath / tight chest and what’s weird is at times I feel fine on myself but have the breath shortness, at other times I’ll suddenly get ‘ill’ (hot, rosy cheeked, heart rate rises, skin kind of crawling, chest aches and pains, feel rough and odd) and as soon as that happens, I can breathe big full breaths again. Then later I feel ok again but the tight chest comes back.

Really odd. So I’m wondering if that’s all my immune system being weird. T1red, any thoughts? Seeing as it’s been 3 weeks altogether I imagine I’ve dodged the lung failure response, but I’d like it to bugger off now! Hope I can fight it off this week.

Thought I’d add my experience. Flu-ish feelings 2 weeks ago, sore throat and possible fever, exhaustion. Noticably no cough. Felt better, fever went but developed into tight chest / shortness of breath the following week. This steadly got worse up to last weekend where I had two days of intense nausea, chest and stomach pains alongside badly feeling I couldn’t breathe. Made worse by the fear I believe. Called 111 who suggested 999. Ambulance out in 5 mins and taken in. O2 / ekg / bloods / chest x-ray all ok

Sent home 8 hours later with no test ( as not admitted) with painkillers and Valium. Rest and self isolate, told fair chance Covid but can’t be sure said the doc. Go back if breathing worsens.

Since then feel ok in myself but chest remains painful at times and breathing remains short. This comes and goes. Resting heart rate according to Fitbit elevated to 67 (usually sits at 55) those past two weeks. Often sitting at plus 70 when in bed, which is high for me. No high temp. Blood saturation 95+ which is good.

Hoping this is residual chest inflammation and it will mend over time. Scary stuff.

And yes you can use it to pump the tyre up afterwards. There’s a switch to either fill the tank or pump into the tyre

We’ve not yet failed to seat a tyre with my lifeline, even my 2.6 butchers. Can 100% recommend.

When setting mine up we initially had problems. It was a new giant trance frame. Turns out there is more than one mech hanger standard and I had the wrong one sent with the frame. Correct one bought and it was easy to set up after that.

I love mine! Good everywhere and doesn’t feel slow

Whys that ? Because it’s not BPW/Afan/somewhere else ? What could they do that would improve it for you ?

I’m not sure really. I like most types of riding including sdw xc so it’s not about it not being super hard or anything, I just always find it a bit unsatisfying. Maybe how busy it is combined with being fairly flat. There are a couple of nice sections but even tank traps I just don’t ‘get’ somehow (never makes me smile)

A vast chunk of it is flat, cruising along the downs link. Take it easy, keep eating and you’ll be fine. Worst case you’ll push up the last hill, but then it’s a nice dh and a cruise along to the finish. I believe in you!

I’ve got a Giant Trance (140mm) with a 160mm fork with lockout and a super-deluxe that locks out. Lightish wheels, eagle drivetrain, 66.5 degree head angle. It’s awesome uphill and down and would do what you want. I’m selling frame though as I just bought an Aeris AM which will be even awesomer (I also have an XC bike).

Oh dear, didn’t realize it would be contentious. Tbf I think it was the blue plus he looked faster than me so fair play to him… ;-)

I agree that whites level is the best trail there. Compact but lots of fun. I even like the climb.

I’ve been considering selling my small mk1 Cotic Solaris in that duck egg blue. It’s a looker but has always been a bit small for me (I’m 5’7)

Nice build with DT swiss xc wheels, fox factory fork and xt drivetrain, slx brakes. PM me if interested.

Well that was…wet!  Didn’t beat the weather and took a soaking.  Fun though and very pleased to have finished.

Me too.  Probably should have trained more…

I quite like mine.  They fit well (I’m a 7 UK size and went 42 which was perfect). Previously had AM7 with the flap covering the laces which were better in the wet (protected my feet for longer) , but these ones seem to dry quickly.

I don’t think they are quite as grippy as the older compound on the previous model and I’ve lost my feet once or twice.  Still pretty good though.

Exercise is shit for weight loss really.  Humans are really efficient.  Eat less too!

I’m finding my recovery times have got a lot worse since I hit 40 something. Nutrition helps me I think.  Forgot to eat for a few hours after a ride the other week and felt awful the whole of the next day.

I’m signed up for this after failing to get fit for the SDW on Saturday.  From the sound of it my Solaris will be perfect.

    Internet opinions.

Electronic music equipment (for which I have zero talent, a bit like bikes in that regard)

Stop it you filthy enablers!  I don’t need to replace my mk1…

But… Hypothetically, I wonder if I’d fit a small or a medium?  I’m 5’7 on a good day and female.  My other Solaris is a small but I’ve always felt it too small.  These are so different though.

+1 on the log cabins.  https://www.cadairviewlodge.co.uk often have midweek deals , 5 nights for £250.

And yes the cycle route takes you into the back of the forest, halfway round the MBR trail.  Bit of a hill on the way back though.

I had similar problems with my new giant trance frame and an eagle mech.  Turned out there is more than one mech  hanger ‘standard’ and my frame had been supplied with a Shimano direct mount hanger which put the SRAM mech out of position.  Ordered a replacement hanger from giant and the problem was solved.

Not sure if this is your problem but worth bearing in mind.

Giant Trance 2 is excellent and last years model can be had for peanuts.

nothing personal but I wish people would stop saying things like ‘it comes with a Pike!’ like it’s the second coming of God or something. I **** hated mine and would go out of my way to find a bike equipped with something (anything) else!

EDIT you’re right though, cost-wise that bike is great value

Just fitted mine (with misgivings having also read the other thread) so happy to hear some success stories.

    Will report back.

Agree with AgentDagnamit. A bruise is one thing but you may well have a proper hematoma and you can really mess things up by exercising it before it’s healed.

I know this becuase I cooked my thigh muscle July 1st in a crash. 12 weeks later still get pain. It may well be just a bruise but if it’s large and very swollen, take care of it (RICE) and maybe get it checked because it’s not worth long term complications.

Mine has arrived and can double confirm the travel spacers are included. Also looks like the ambiguous answer to the question on CRC has gone so I guess there was confusion there.

Lovely looking forks – wasn’t expecting them to look so good for some reason. Can’t wait to try them.

    cheers simonhuscroft,

I’ve just ordered the CRC one too so fingers crossed it will work OK.

Ooh great news that they come with the spacers (and stickers!)

I’m excited too :D Anyone have the tool kit to do the travel adjust and can confirm it works? It gets poorly reviewed on CR with people saying the cassette tool thingy doesn’t fit…

    Thanks for the heads-up roverpig

These are down to £349 today. I’ve just ordered some so will see if the spacers are supplied or not.

Looks like you can get them as a separate kit anyway for around £20.
