I’m in. Struggled with post Covid fatigue most of the year and drinking isn’t helping at all.

I’d like to start back on learning piano. Finish my open uni course and not mess it up. Finally learn javascript. Cycle the King Alfred’s way (Covid depending). Try recording some music rather than just messing around.

Plus one an iPad or alesis sr16. It really depends what genre of music it is though
The 808,909 style etc are amazing but limited in sound pallet and won’t sound like a real drum kit, or even new order who I think used an oberheim. If he’s making techno or hip hop they are fantastic though. If it’s more a drum backing track type to sound like oasis he’s after maybe not. Something that can play back samples or has a lot of onboard sounds will give him best bang for buck and be more flexible.

Currently on storm control rear and hillbilly front, after previous thread on here. Good so far.

Same as funk and davros. Got sick end March and still not 100%.

Can ride but have lost my power on hills and have to walk some (heart races badly otherwise) if I overdo it it breaks me.

I’d suggest taking things gently and ease back.

Plus 1 for the thinkpads. I moved from Macbooks as I didn’t like the thin keyboards on the new ones and really rate the thinkpad. Dual booting linux and Win 10 and it’s brilliant.

You can use an authentication app for 2fa with paypal. I use google authenticator . No issues and no phone call required.

Edit: of course in order to set this up you need to be able to log in in the first place. But for those that can I recommend it

Any updates over time on it’s performance? Trying to choose between bikes with this and pike or 36. I’m light and every pike I’ve ever ridden has felt too harsh so leaning toward this but a bit nervous of all the reviews too. I need it to feel plush at speed on trail centre rocky trails, mostly.

Don’t have kids but plus 1 to the Liv bikes. Decent small bikes I really like mine can often be had cheap too.

Try a what tyre thread? Failing that mention any of the following words in the title: fat bike single speed steel is real bimble gravel gnarcore trump covid sausages ;-)

    Also, welcome to the forum

Cheap is why I usually end up with spec tyres. Not married to them though. I miss the Chunky Monkeys!

Yes mine have always leaked. Stans, GRID or the old controls. I just put up with it but it is a bit annoying.

Bumping an old thread but does anyone run hillbillies front AND rear for winter? Down south in the chalk. I’ve just bought a pair but I do also have a butcher, a purg and an old storm control I could use on the rear instead.

Looking for max confidence on sloppy roots and mud, e.g friston / stammer. Is the rolling resistance awful? They are last year’s 2.3 GRIDs if it matters (currently on sale for £19 at the spec concept store as a PSA)

I’m 5’7 and have just bought a medium as the small would be tiny for me. (Also on the cusp of sizes) Reach of the med is only 419mm, I think it would feel small for you and large would right?

Giant talon? Has rackmounts and dual bottle cages. Swap out the budget build kit.

Yeah, as per the other thread got it in march and had a long ‘recovery’. Thought things were ok come June but then over the last months the usual suspects – fatigue, sob, chest oddness / pain, sore muscles, pretty significant fitness loss and the most worrying thing, fast heart rate and odd rythms.

Reading oldagepredators post earlier was eerily familiar, following that to a tea (colds, then relapse etc etc)

It comes and goes and sometimes I’m fine. I can ride so I’m grateful. Heart and chest tests next week.

Not great in my experience. Remember a particularly freezing shower after a wet cold glentress ride :-/ that was the most miserable I’ve felt camping. Saying that the location is decent if you’re just there for a bit and stay away from the bar! Left the bikes out one night and got lucky by the sound.of it.

Now we stay at the glentress lodge campsite, might try the one in inners next time.

I’ve got the lifeline one from wiggle and it’s been flawless. Bargain too as it was only £35 when I got it 3 years ago. They’ve gone up a bit!

If it’s the ones chainreaction were selling cheap recently then I believe it’s ispec b (I bought a set and went through the same learning curve)

Bit easier for me as turns out my older deore brakes have ispec b connectors and you just screw the mech in. Pretty neat really.

    Good luck!

I’m pretty much back to normal now, at work and able to ride and getting up some of the south downs hills with Strava PRs. No longer seem to be getting the fatigued spells. Feel well and mentally fine. I’m still being careful to rest in between and have days I do nothing, and I’d say my lung capacity feels a little odd (would be interested in a ct scan). The odd elevated heart in bed like once a fortnight.

It’s the quality (read speed) of the processer. Which translates to how fast it can compute. An underpowered processor can struggle with things like virtual instruments in daws, and that coupled with the amount of ram can lead to issues with clicks and pops from the audio, and limited number of tracks. That said, that’s really only relevant for someone wanting to use lots of virtual instruments with low latency. For someone starting out mostly just recording some loops and and the odd synth, it’s much less of an issue and something cheaper would suffice imo.

I guess it depends on budget and how much you want something she might grow into vs something just to get her started.

Plus one that the deore 4 pots are actually very good. At least I’ve just had a new pair and I really rate them so far and a bargain to boot.

So Sram have fixed this in later models? Anyone know when? I’d like to know if I buy a new set of REs, will they will come with the fixed lever?

From software to something healthcare related like adult nursing or some other allied health profession. I regret not going for medicine when I was in my 20s and now I’m in my 40s it’s too late for that, but other things in the area appeal to me.

In fact I’m considering this change even without being made redundant.
