love both, mtb historically but got road bike last year and so easy to go out front door for 60 mile ride and be back indoors quicker then driving an hour each way for 20 mile ride so sometimes a no brainer if time is short. road cycling maximises hours in day for mileage but mtb more out and out fun

use a quality de coke agent 1-2 times a year(forte recommended by MOT stations), will help stop egr coking + use decent fuel cheap ones have very little detergent in.

what i find strange is that most bike shops have good mechanics yet front of shop really poor how does that work

so do we all buy petrol just in case something goes wrong?? most parts are electronic now on all cars so jsut as much chance of going wrong ie fly by wire throttle, air flow control, injectors-controls etc etc

defo use quality diesel not supermarket stuff on modern ones though

agree some of the drongos in local shop are just out of school, know sweet fa about anything let alone bikes, try to tell me how i should set my bike up when they arnt even allowed to touch an allen key let alone use one

i had a mad dog jump onto 1st section of summer lightning today and run the way i was going(luckily) was hilarious, couldnt catch him sooo fast

had a 1.6 petrol did 42 average where i drive, got a diesel 1.4 tdci 65+ average and 20 a year tax as opposed to 150 600+ a year saving overall

my only experience with asking women out biking is that you end up traveling miles to do a ride that is a 3rd of your normal distanceand you feel cheated that you didnt break a sweat and you end up cleaner their bike for them.

apologies to all women who ride long distances and clean their own bike

personally need to do 100-130 a week to think about being fit from cycling

this might be contentious but without reading all of the posts here has anyone thought of the extra fumes created by cars doing 20. i saw a program / report last year that actually suggested 20 in urban areas would drastically increase standing fumes as they dont disperse as easily as well as obviously cars do not running as efficiently at 20 then 30.
personally enforcing 30 would be a massive improvement just to start with and making sure people cross at lights not when they want to which would help cyclists as well i’ll think all you commuters would agree

totally agree i’m nearly back where i started but you never know till you try, if you dont try your have that niggling doubt in the back of you mind that keeps you awake at night (or is that just me)
