i couldn’t care if someone doesn’t actually want to buy what i’m selling once they have seen pics but it would be nice to know one way or the other. people soon get annoyed when they think they get gazumped on a item. i always give them a day or so.

manners cost nought where i come from.

i was thinking of getting middle ring only(as i spend most time in that) but wasn't sure if it would feel odd running 2 types of rings on same chainset if you see what i mean. i've started running a 28t cassette and have noticed one knee aching a bit etc

from what i know from a mate who runs an old school road boy shop in london most of the money made is repairs as repairs dont require loads of money to be tied up waiting to be sold. he has always said there is money to be made in having a repair only shop with just consumables for sale especially if your any good at the repair side.

you may want to look at the city in guilds certificate (bike doctor i think run it) as i have heard it may become recognised as a more professional qualification as it is government affiliated/regulated i believe.

if you are basically saying that pumping lever a couple of times makes brakes work better then it is prob air trapped / seals in lever damaged or worn so they are not pushing fluid correctly to activate pistons. non returning pistons can also be air trapped as there will be less vacuum effect to pull back pistons.

one test is to take wheel out put large screwdriver between pads pull lever and hold. if you can push pads back with screwdriver to any extent while holding brake on then prob air.

make sure you use fluid that isnt too old and should be left to stand for a few hours so no air bubbles in it.

hmm cheers billyboy you sound like me always tweaking for perfection if its ever to be found??? one day and many frames later i'll get there.

i think i'll prob. try for a 2nd hand ti 456 to start with (and money wise) to dip toe in titanium water if i like it then move up if i need to or go back to steel which is fave at mo in my book. but i'll change my mind by the morning, well it is a mountain bikers prerogative after all.
