    2012.

This isn’t just a bad film, it’s actually very annoying.
I can remember getting mad watching it.

Momentarily losing temper and brushing a chin with a finger are not really compatible statements. I’m not criticizing your Dad, we all get cross with kids and most of us have probably overstepped the line but best you (both) are completely honest about what happens, otherwise you risk sounding like you don’t accept what he has done.

My son is very honest and so is my father, both their statements tallied up, that’s why the police didn’t pursue the matter.

Will your son not be at school? Could you arrange wrap around care, nursery or childminder to help out whilst you are at work? Obviously more difficult if you work shifts, might be difficult to arrange for short term only and certainly an expense but perhaps an option all the same.

The days the my son’s mother is intending to leave him with her partner are Friday to Monday, he also has a dental appointment on the Friday after school. I could try and arrange childcare but this would be undoubtedly at my own expense which I can’t afford.

This probably isn’t the case but … well better safe than sorry.

Are you 100% certain she won’t try and take the child away… (does she have a passport for him)

No, she doesn’t have his passport, she isn’t intending to take him with her. The whole point of this is that she’s booked a holiday on the assumption that I will sort out the childcare whilst she is away. This wouldn’t have been a problem had she not made the phonecall to the SS which I think was malicious,(it wouldn’t be the first time).

My parents would have been able to look after my son whilst I was at work, now they can’t.

I cannot take time off work and I do not think that she should be able to leave my son with a third party.

Surely my son’s welfare and my contract of employment are more important than her holiday.

This was my first year at the Ard Rock, was given a Marathon entry by someone who couldn’t make it so I really have no room to complain.

However, the first thing that annoyed me was that the camping pitches weren’t on a first come first served basis, when I was directed onto the field I was told to go in a line which I wasn’t really happy with, I asked to go on the perimeter but was told I couldn’t even though there was [plenty of room which was filled shortly after I set up my tent. I ended up having to endure two nights next to the noisiest bunch of tw4ts I’ve ever had the displeasure of sharing a campsite with. That said, that could have happened anywhere on the site and the lesson I’ve learned is if you want to camp with your mates, you must arrive together.

Secondly, the distance of the Marathon was much shorter than advertised, this meant me stopping for food at about 28 miles, thinking I had another 10 miles to do when in fact it was only another 3, I reckon I could have knocked 30 minutes off my time had I known how much shorter it was going to be. I did enjoy the course though.

Food and drink wasn’t an issue as I’m a seasoned camper and went fully loaded with my own stuff.

The marshalls did a great job and maybe their payments should increase in line with ticket prices.

A good event which I enjoyed and will be returning to.

Coniston Hall campsite is decent and fairly cheap, riding nearby includes Walna scar road , Dunnerdale and Grizedale.

Side farm campsite in Patterdale will give you a good base for Helvellyn and the High street loop.

Hollows Farm in Borrowdale is a perfect base for the Borrowdale bash and Whinnlatter forest.

Bays brown campsite in Chapel stile is a good base for loads of riding around Elterwater and the Langdales.

All these sites are good and the riding is great.

rode with free ride in august. fantastic. word of caution their enduro rides are very hard core and their all mountain rides can be like afan on steroids. great fun but technical. well worth it

Hmmm, I’m not into big jumps of any kind but don’t mind rocky/technical steep descents, I’ve been told there is room on one of their Freeride/Enduro days, should I be scared

I pity anyone who is wheelchair bound but surely they should accept that there are certain things they’ll never be able to do and certain places they’ll never be able to go.

So, I attended my speed awareness course and I have to say, I found it quite enjoyable. I learnt a few things too. I’m £100 out of pocket but I would’ve been anyway, plus 3 points.
I was surprised to see that the biggest percentage of people on our course were middle to pension age, hardly any boy racers and a fairly equal mix of men and women too.

I would recommend people go on the course if they’re given the opportunity

You had the kid, they come with responsibilities and costs.
If you weren’t ready to bear them why’d you do it?
It isn’t as if this is a surprise.
We had a great holiday in 2011 after GCSEs, finally out of the peak demand.

    Too many assumptions here.
    1. I didn’t plan ‘the kid’, my ex did.
    2. It was a surprise.
    3. A holiday in a school break isn’t always more expensive due to peak demand. I once paid top dollar for a holiday in October and when I got to the destination, the hotel was dead and nearly everything was closed down.

My little lad did it in his own time. He started on a balance bike and enjoyed that. To get him on his pedal bike, I removed the pedals so he could still use it as a balance bike to get him started.
I put the pedals back on and he didn’t want to know so I didn’t pressure him, then two days ago, right out of the blue, something just clicked and he started pedalling it, by himself with out any instruction from me. He’s four and a half. I was well chuffed

If you have an open page on Facebook, you will always get hangers on, people who have no intention of riding with you and a few trolls.
Our club recently had a clearout of people who weren’t paid up members and our fb group is now closed. New requests are vetted before being accepted as there are some that have no obvious mountainbiking interest. We even have to turn down bits of hot totty too.

I’ve just had a job done on my garage which involved a bit of tile/block cutting and some pebbledashing.
An hour or so after it was finished my neighbour came out and started sweeping up the tiny amount of pebbledashing which had landed on his drive although he left his own pebbledashing that had been falling off his own wall over the months. It was like he was saying “it’s ok, I’ll clean up your builders mess”
I also offered to wash his car, an offer which he declined before proceeding to wash it himself.
Some neighbours can be really annoying, don’t be one of these. Let it go. :-)

The point of these courses is to point out and/or remind people that just a few mph over the limit in pedestrain/urban areas makes a HUGE difference to the injuries sustained in the event of an accident and also increases the likelihood of it happening

If that’s the case, I shouldn’t be going on the course.
I was caught in an rural area where I hardly see any pedestrians.
The road I was speeding on is the A591 travelling west to the Lake district past the village of Ings. It’s a large open road and where 40mph does feel slow.
That’s no excuse mind, I travel to the lakes a lot and was aware of the speed limit in this area but for some unknown reason, I was caught out on this particular day, maybe it was because I was eager to get riding as my time was limited.

I’m hoping this course can explain why, since a 20mph speed limit was enforced on the busy road on which I live, that sees the pedestrian traffic of four different schools, has there never been a speed camera to catch out some of the drivers that fly down the street at twice that speed. Even the sign that lit up with either a smiley or sad face, depending on your speed was taken down after only a couple of months
I think I will be disappointed though, as someone has already pointed out on this thread, there’s no room for discussion. So I might as well do my ‘whinging’ on here. :-) :-(

I picked up 3 points now expired. Told insurance and there was no increase. Insurance told me that most companies expect 3 points now, so it didn’t load it. Something to consider before wasting a days holiday.

I won’t be wasting a days holiday, I’ve booked an afternoon course which I’ll be doing after my early(430am-12pm)shift. Just hope I don’t fall asleep during the course or worse still,
while I’m driving there or back

    Brilliant work.

    Ask advice on the Internet.
    Get unanimous advice.
    Ignore advice.

I don’t think the course is for you, take the points.

Great advice from you but I will ignore it as I’m in the process of booking a course, thanks anyway.

Thanks, I’ve spoken to a few lads at work regarding this.
One said he did the course and wish he’d taken the points.8 hours of his life he won’t get back.
Another said his sons insurance premiums went up even though he took the course and never got the points, the insurance company found out somehow.

The fine is £100 and the course fee is £95 but factor in a 70 mile round trip in a Trannie van and I’m going to be more out of pocket taking the course.

I’ve ridden both Tenerife and Lanzarote.

Darran at Lavatrax Tenerife was good although it’s more descending than XC but he might do some XC days too.

For more XC get in touch with Gavin at Evolution bikes, Lanzarote.

Both of them good guys and they also hire out bikes. so you can also do your own thing.
