Thanks for the replies, didn’t fancy riding with a loaded pack of water on my back so thats good maybe a spare litre in the camel as an emergency.

I’ve mainly been riding the SDW but its fine I’m sure I’ll close my eyes, hopefully get a ride in Saturday too, 3 of us riding so I’m sure it will be fun regardless.

Yes same here, Well I think if the tap doesn’t fix it then hopefully the lifetime warranty kicks in 🙂

They won’t let me buy the rear triangle on its own.

Yes I have the same thing, well something very similar, the threads look old, I’ve been asked to get it tapped “The thread is 1mm and would be a M10 tap.” – I have zero idea how this will really help but been too busy to get it sorted.

I assume yours is carbon too? Mines a 2015

My HR is almost the same, although not quite as bad. Had another that did the same thing and a side knob got so bad it made a hole. 1) Replace or 2) Eek it out and throw away when you switch to a winter tyre. Just remember a spare tube 😉

I think it is great thank you have the confidence to post message here how you feel, its very brave and shows that you are trying to keep sane for want of a better word.

I can’t relate to your exact situation but I have put myself through some awkward times and they were fundamentally self imposed so your situation is VERY different but hopefully a few things that might help.

    1) Try to create a list of things you want to improve / work on, lumping everything into one massive pot of despair just adds to your burden you feel. Break them down, you can’t deal with everything in one go – thats not fair to impose that on yourself
    2) Try to find one (or more) positive things a day, however small.
    3) Exercise – no excuse find yourself some time, get some endorphins going – it will help however small its a start – I’d imagine 90%+ of us on here would go a little batshit if we didn’t ride. You owe it to yourself (please). I do appreciate it might be hard to get the motivation but do it early in the day so life doesn’t get in the way.
    4) You need to deal with your debt situation, there are a number of options available and its none of my business how much debt you are in but clearly it bothers you, it is something there is help for. Beware of scams and any questions post back here or message me if thats possible.

Its so hard to know what else to say, you can chip away at this. There are lots of things you can try but to start you need to find a way just to give yourself some peace in your head (hence the list) and please don’t be too hard on yourself the fact you post here shows you want things to change, however hard that might seem right now.

My thoughts are with you matey – don’t be silent.

    What make are you getting?

Not an animal behaviourist but we’ve had 3 dogs from 8-10 week old puppies over the last 15 years.

Socialising super important, might be tricky with other dogs but noises, objects, being left alone, toilet training (try not to use the p!ss mats they sell in shops) all so important to get right. Even if you can’t do the dog socialising get the other bits right and you can work on the dog socialising stuff at a later date.

Routine is often talked about but we’ve always been careful not to create 6:30 walk, food at 7:30 it doesn’t take long for that routine to sink in and their expectations get rigid (harder to change). We’d always feed our children first (pecking order in the house) children sometimes give the food to the dogs etc.

Oh and get a crate – its not only handy for you but a safe space for your dog too.

    Sorry I’ll stop waffling now!!!

    Good luck & enjoy 🙂

The more protection the better – full face or a convertible. I have a Leatt something or other for long rides up, but if just bombing down FF no question.

Thats what I’d like to do, it has so many uses, wife is using it as an office on the drive at the mo :-). Another choice is to adjust the loan once things settle down, I haven’t got to panic and sell it today but need to make sure I don’t dig a financial hole. I suppose I could use it as a delivery van! I’ll take a look at the Caddy – thanks

I find the trans athlete thing fascinating (much to my wife’s dismay!)

Father of 4, 3 girls and a boy.

1 girl of our girls certainly no older than 4 was adamant she was a boy without a willy (she is nearly 12 now). She cry’s if put near a dress, physically effects her. She loves her shorts and T shirt and that’s that. We don’t mind. She is who she is. However, she doesn’t say she’s a boy anymore, long hair earrings arguably typical girl appearance. If she was in some progressive Canadian / US home transitioning seems to be a thing.

The point being I couldn’t care less about someone being trans, eldest daughters friend has decided to be called a boys name as opposed to her girls name. Who cares?

Robert Miller (I’m not trying to dead name him, he exists in race results) was a fantastic cyclist. Can you imagine the mess he’d have made of women’s cycling at the time? He wasn’t a muscular man but he was technically a man.

I listened to the Strava podcast on McKinnon and I found it interesting but I do not think she should be competing with Women. As a man she was I imagine an ok athlete. I don’t think she woke up and thought I know I’ll become a woman to win, best not confuse the trans part, almost without question her body had distinct hormone advantages growing up. She can’t help that it is biological.

Particularly in strength based sports it’s scary. If your child is a female contact sport athlete do you fancy them competing for an Olympic place again a “man”.

Should trans people be able to compete, YES absolutely. We have para sports (in which people do try to get in the most suitable category of disability to give them an advantage in that class so not perfect!)

Flip it around a girl / woman who identifies as a boy / man is great at cyclist, world class in fact. How will they cope in the male field. Badly! Is hat fair? Absolutely not either.

My business partner is Canadian and his 17yo daughter is so progressive, which is her right. She skates at a decent level and ask the question how would she feel if a trans skater came in and busting moves only a “man” can do and win, she was dead against it. Not surprisingly.

Anyone being trans must be tough mentally, I can’t imagine how it must feel. And their “right” to compete as the person they feel they are is perfectly understandable, but if we all did what we feel was our “right” the world would be more ****ed than it is.

Find a way for any trans person to compete as fairly as possible, takes out the personal attacks they get and some court in the first place!

Sootyandjim has got it spot on in my opinion.

Had a puff once and absolutely hated it, so do not have an experience myself. But I have seen friends children get seriously into it and scary to see.

At his age a bit every now and then isn’t ideal but tell him to stop he of course is very unlikely to do that. His brain has alot of development to go through, this is one of the reason he shouldn’t be abusing it.

Every case will be different but if he is a fundamentally a good lad try to carefully steer him, we all do stupid sh!t in our life so we shouldn’t judge too much we often all turn out basically OK.

One thing to remember is the a confidence feedback loop (this applies to all of us, driving, riding our bikes, drinking you name it) Misplaced belief (drinking is fine) > behave negatively (drink way too much and drive home) > experience no consequences (no accident, didn’t get caught felt in control) > reinforced belief (that wasn’t a problem). Round and around you go until if goes bat sh!t wrong. So a puff here and there can morph into something a whole lot more serious.

Best of luck, maybe buy him a new bike and taking him riding lots he won’t have time to smoke 😉

I’m training to be a driving instructor and absolutely they shouldn’t be paying unless there was some contract they signed up for (and if that was a clause shouldn’t have used them that person for teaching).

If she was on her test the instructor had to have been happy with the standard of her driving to allow her to use the car.

The car is a tool, it isn’t a pride and joy purchase.

Thats interesting, the radio clips of this make it sound very different.

How did she get in there?

Personally if she wants to make her point good luck to her but on that basis she assumes the risk she will be removed one way or another. Shame it will maybe distract from the actual point she was trying achieve.

Hey ho I’m off for a bike ride 🙂

Ok what am I missing, they aren’t called “Sick” they are “Sick Bicycle Co” aren’t they?

They are a registered limited company, and there are plenty of companies using the word “sick” in their Ltd.

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/search?q=Sick

And Sick Corp Ltd has common Directors!

I’m no expert but I think it sounds very fishy, some tin pot spanish components company surely do not own the right to use the word “sick” in a company name.

    So what’s the real story?
