Lovely build. I am surprised it got such nice small details.

genesis equilibrium may fit the bill and there are deals on these around.

I think you can get both disc and other mount.

I have a dc37 on a bike similar to the vaya and its fine and relatively good looking. At the price I would recommend it.

pryally – ‘I much prefer my pickenflick to my tripster – if you prefer a tall front end maybe the tripster would suit you better. It also depends on the use for the bike, mudguards/racks etc ‘

I am intrigued to know why, does it ride much better? I have a ti burls and compared to a kaffenback its nicer to ride, but that could also be down to a carbon fork.

cheers, you are right, got confused with the supernova.

Monkeyfudger can that rear light be used with a shimano hub and B&M IQ?

I thought it could only be used with an equivalent front?

Great looking bike especially with the silver finishing kit. How fat can you run with tires?

I am not sure spending money on the kaffenback will help. However. Kinesis tripster may.:-)

I had a kaffenback and a change of wheelset made a huge difference to the feel of the bike. However, I don’t think its going to get you where you want to get to.

If you dont have a requirement for mudguards and discs (and I did) – then I would use the summer bike or get the PX London road or something, which should be a lot lighter and feel nipper.

The genesis range is quite nice as well, and run more road based geometry so will feel nicer.

Just to echo what Peter said. Decent wheels made a huge difference to my kaffenback.

However I also rode an older 725 CDF and it did feel springer. I would recommend test rides.

My Croix de Fer, about an hour ago.

There is something elegant about a plain black bike with those tubes. What is the frame bag and can it carry much?

    Genesis Fortitude maybe?

I’ve found a 29er in bog standard guise to be fine. Though I rarely use it for road duties given a choice.
The biggest downside was not being able to hunker down on long stretches or into headwinds.
Used XC hardpack tyres and locked suspension.
Bar ends would be a useful addition.
Used it a lot for winter road night rides and sportives.
    might audax it next year.

Hi – isnt the wind a problem on night rides and sportives?

Not the same bike, but I had a px kaffenback 2. I changed the OEM wheels (deore hubs and mach 820 rims) for a set of Hope/Archteypes. Everything else remained the same, tires, tubes etc.

The bike was transformed from something dead and wooden to something much more lively. Net cost to change was around £150 but worth every penny.

I prefer the red as well, that looks pretty nondescript, but it could be the lighting.

Peter – glad you got sorted. I just cant seem to get fitted properly on genesis bikes without going up a size or 2. Ironically on a test ride I liked a 60cm CDF.

Your bike does look nice, almost makes me want to get a rack for mine 🙂

I find the genesis sizing quite weird and generally run small. So I would consider getting a size up, depending on how high you wanted the bars

Out of curiosity, can I use a shim and a 27.2 seat post as I need the setback?
