Just to add, Burls which do a custom ti for around the £1250 for frame and forks.

Cielo Rosso, who used to advertise for about £700 for a custom ti.

I know someone who had one done, so if you need more information drop me a line (email in profile) and I will find out more.

Bike for life, its depends on you I guess. I tend to get bored so everything for me is short lived. However friends of mine buy one thing and keep it forever, so for them its usually bike for life.

That salsa looks lovely. But in terms of touring bikes I think spa offer great vfm.

For Ti there is also Burls.

Does it have to be Rourke? Saffron frameworks had some nice bikes as well.

I am sorry I missed this. But if you are doing one over the xmas break I would love to come!

GT grade although hydro disc maybe difficult at that budget.

Its not small but I have the lezyne lights (the older superdrive – so anything above 600 lumens I guess) and I feel it really works in the daytime. Enough that when I am riding on the LHS people stuck in their cars move to the right.

On the rear, the rear is good as well but I think you can get better.

The other alternative which I like, but don’t have, but should be similar are the cateye volt, its a very sleek design.

Deejayen, you are right the demo are an off grey, which I think is now a standard colour.

Ad is up anyway, lol so hopefully I have priced it fairly.

Stevied, Thanks, I wasn’t sure if ex-demo would be an issue or not.

Thanks helpful, what I really want to know is what I need to price it reasonably without having to resort to ebay.

Ac282 how do you manage 5 days?

I am lucky in that we have showers and a changing room at work. I do get ready the night before and at the moment put all the clothes on the radiator!

When I don’t ride in and then see all the cyclists in London, that’s when I wish I was back on my bike!

Maybe I just need to HTFU lol

I was hoping I would sleep better but it does not always work that way.

Sometimes I am amazed that despite having a tiring ride I just cant fall asleep.

The worse part of the commute is the sheer number of lights and traffic. About a third of the journey is into C London, which is OK in the mornings but seem to be gridlocked in the evening.

Cheers all. Its a long day about 12 hours by the time I leave home and get back. Work is not physically taxing but more mentally draining.

TBH I sometimes feel like a bit of wimp, not doing a full weeks mileage, maybe this is all I can hope to achieve for now.

I thought my endurance was supposed to improve as I got older but it sure does not feel that way!

    Thanks for that.

To be honest by the time I get to the weekend I can’t manage much more than a 25 mile circuit.

Depends on the length of the ride but for my 1.5hour commute in just use thick roubaix leg warmers

Swerve or the M&S cycling chinos

Thanks for the review, the weight thing did bother me, but then I think an equivalent Trek domane or spesh roubaix is about the same weight.

+1 To West wittering. Its a bit of a drive from W London (I drove from Ruislip) but the beach is very nice. Also if you pack a bbq, chairs, tent etc you can make a really day of it.

I thought about the nc700 but prices are still high and I am sure sure it would work well for me, giving the speed cams and amount of filtering.

May work for the OP though! 🙂

To be honest part of me just cannot get my head around the whole seating position, but I am going to go out on a test ride

I am in the same boat, 34rt commute, basically filtering and average speed cams all the way.

While a bike is fun I just don’t see the point. However prices vary significantly and I have no idea what to get.

Out of curiosity is a lighter bike that much more fun to ride than something heavier ? I have a similar dilemma without the budget or C2W scheme but wonder about getting something less sensible – no Dynamo or discs but need guards!

Only did a 40km road ride but felt a lot more tired than expected. Managed to watch the tdy, which was fun.

I would send the barfly mounts, having got an out front one. I think k edge have slightly changed the design as earlier ones had issues with the garmin mount (in case you buy second hand)

I dont have much standover and over the last year or so it has not been a problem (although I only ride on bridleways at best). However I do tilt the bike getting on and off!

Had one done last year. Moved my seat a lot more forward and slightly down. Big improvement as my shoulder pain decreased enough for me to do a couple of 100km rides.

Are these designed to be run with a short or long stem. My current bike has a 570mm vtt and I run with a 100mm stem and very short reach bars.

I am torn between the 55.5 and 57, but like the bars high, so like the stack of the former – any recommendations on what size to go for?

Also with the slack head angle, do they feel slow to steer?

The other app to try is buddify. I must confess I started this a few days ago but am struggling to find any sort of calm. I think I need to preserve.

I am sorry for your loss, I lost my father about a year ago.

I don’t have any mates I can call upon but then I would feel I was imposing if I did, so maybe it’s more about me. However I am totally with the poster who said quality, not quantity. I cling onto the belief (probably naively) then when I need someone hopefully whoever that person will just come along.

What about the ps bish bash bosh, seems to be an ATR carbon equivalent. Not sure about the frame set only deal though.

What weight are your builds coming in at?

I have something similar to this but a burls ti, but with guards, dyno wheel etc it weighs about 14kg, the builds here seem much lighter and I am wondering what I am doing wrong

    cheers

Another aldi fan but I use the sky gloves. If it’s really bad I use my winter motorcycling gloves.

Raceblades work quite well or you could also try Portland design works for full coverage.

    Kinesis ATR?

Specialized AWOL (although I am not sure if they still do them)

James (Evans are the distributor) do some nice bikes as well.
